I don't get why so many people care about what we call Pluto. Calm down people, it's still the same hunk of rock and ice you loved before. It's not like it's gonna pack its bags and move away while giving the solar system the finger.
@aroblesCG Just the fact that we grew up knowing Pluto as a planet, people seem to feel deceived or cheated; while at the same time it's not really that important to know whether Pluto is a planet or not. I just think they made a huge deal out of it at a time when our problems are way bigger than categorizing another speck of dust in our solar system, giving way to science doubters to say: "Aha! I knew science was fake!".
What the hell? Invite one of the greatest of our species on the planet onto the show and write them a crummy scenes with crummy lines! Shame on you TV writers, SSSSSSSHHHHHHAAAAAMMMMEEEEE
Why don't people like this show? It's bringing scientific awareness to people in the form of comedy. People that would otherwise not educate themselves in scientific matters can now learn at least some things about science. Neil Tyson being on the show just shows his commitment to bringing scientific education to the world; he was willing to step way outside of his normal role.
@MrBullAdam The fact that the characters are so exaggerated makes it funny for me and I imagine for many others as well. It all depends on who's watching it i guess.
Yes, you have great validity in this nightmare...This show is an abomination to intelligent humor and to combine that with the genius of this man is just a disgrace.
@Swe3ets wow writing that in all caps makes you think, people are gonna focus and listen to you more. niceee. There's a word for that these days, i think it's called being an attention whore. Now regarding your comment, nah Dr. Neil Tyson isn't the devil.. he's just someone who doesn't believe in bronze-age-sheep-hearder tales of the unknown. Have a great one :).
@matheusliradacosta Good riddance, moron. This show has more comedy in 5 minutes then most bullshit on television nowadays. Also, that's why this show is one of the highest rated comedies atm. Now go watch Workaholics, faggot.
@matheusliradacosta Nope. I honestly feel sorry for you're uninteresting life.. which is why you can't see the humor in anything. But I see you're a completely unoriginal moron who can't come up with his own responses so I'm out until someone can get on my level. Like I said keep watching Workaholics. Peace out morons.
@nutinurmacaroni Don't be such a chimp. All these shows are formulaic and boring. You're on such a high level because you can watch a TV show about "smart" people making predictable jokes about "smart" things like relativity? Do you even understand what that is? How about you go read some Kafka, Camus, Sartre, go watch Mr. Show, or Kids in the Hall. That is truly subversive comedy with bite, not this safe-n-sound comedy where you get to leave feeling the same way about life.
@scientrophic I'm done continuing to feed you morons. My final words are stop coming to videos of shit you don't like to treat people who are fans of it like shit. Peace.
@nutinurmacaroni There's no need to insult. I think this show is stupid and predictable. I went to school for neuroscience, but didn't slack and did my time in physics, math, and chemistry. I'm not stupid. But if you look at the topics they reference, and the depth at which they reference them, it's clear they're targeting an audience with a passing understanding of these subjects who want to feel smart for watching. Mr. Show would be an example of a truly subversive intelligent comedy show.
@stupidfool91 Thank you. It seems a lot of people don't get it. I know real scientists and real nerds, and none of them watch this, because they are living it, and these stupid caricatures are uninteresting.
@Neueregel It now has a cult following. You must understand that sense of humor is not "one size fits all", and what you may find funny might not be funny to the person next to you. I think it is just awesome that a science-based sitcom has become so popular, since it may engender more interest in that area of study.
@kadene2 Something being "funny" is overrated. As William Blake said, "Excessive joy, weeps". People watching sitcoms "need" to laugh as a means of escapism, because their lives are inherently sad. As for the show, I haven't yet watched more than 1 episode, so I will not further judge it.
Wow i just lost a little respect for him. The fact that this show is popular tells me Americans are just getting dumber and dumber and that laugh tracks make people think old jokes are still funny.
@InKa4484 Yet, amazingly, much of the scientific community likes the show. They get the science right, it's respected enough that it can get scientists the caliber of Tyson and George Smoot (Nobel Laureate) and to have an article in Science magazine about it.
So, you can keep your opinion on who is getting dumber, I'll side with the PhD's...
I thought this video was going to be Tyson giving a brief explanation of how the big bang theory happened :( I guess I should pay more attention to thumbnails before I click the title.
Neil knows how to "sell" himself. And I mean this in a positive way. He knows how to reach people and make science interesting and understandable, like Dawkins and Michu Kaku.
@toverkleet Can thank Carl Sagan. Both men are great, though. And I think, if Sagan lived still, he'd be on TBBT like Neil. Hell, the two of them probably would've been in roles like this for a couple episodes.
Dude is an idiot and Dr Tyson should have slapped him. Its not like Pluto is nonexistent now. Its the same as it ever was only now we know its not alone and we even have a better definition for 'planet'.
@Al3xX420 Fine - then I need to bash some show that my favorite artist/writer/whatever was just because I don't like it. This is what smart people do, right?
@crieiessacontaagora No, what smart people do is analyze. I don't like how Sheldon holds a grudge against Dr. Tyson just because Pluto is no longer considered a planet. Sheldon isn't stupid. He would know that the only thing that has changed is we have increased our knowledge of Pluto and the outer solar system.
@Al3xX420 I'll understand if you're a professional criticizer, who do that for a living. If you ain't, then sorry, but you're not doing it right. You need to analize what's good for you - if Big Bang Theory is placed at the "bad shelf" of your head, just don't waste your time on it. I know that you got a "good shelf" there, so pick an option of many in this shelf, debate and analyze as much as you want.
@crieiessacontaagora Here's why I made my snide comment about the show. Now's the tough part... to actually think and not make generalized insults.. THE SHOW IS SHIT!!!! lol.... No, but really, the commenters on youtube that tell the haters "Go find something you love and stop hurting my feelings" are pathetic. I HAVE found something I love. When I run across bad art, I try to point out the difference between quality and crap. If anyone is hurt by it enough to respond all butt-hurt, that is sad.
@tpstrat14 Then you clearly didn't understood what I said (or just didn't read it). I'm not sad "butthurt" for what you said. I'm sad to see so many people wasting their time on something that they don't like. If it makes you happy to go on something that you don't like and keep commenting on it, I only can see you as a Youtube troll. But again, that makes you so happy? Go on then.
@crieiessacontaagora "If it makes you happy to go on something that you don't like and keep commenting on it, I can only see you as a youtube troll". Right back at you. This show is shit. If you don't like my opinion, then stop commenting on it.
I think the big bang theory is a great sitcom. That being said I hate sitcoms. But its probably good that we have at least one sitcom where not every premise has to do with Sex, and socially awkward stupid humor, and cheesy jokes set up miles away.
Granted being a sitcom the humor in Big bang theory is still incredibly childish. But at least it does far surpass its competitors. And brings people who normally wouldn't know anything about science to at least hearing about it.
@GhostInTheShell29 Big Bang theory is the media corporations capitalizing on an increasing body of college-educated people who have no idea why they got a college education, let alone one in math and science. This show makes them feel smart because they recognize the references but don't need to think deeply about them. As far as exposing science, it drops names and does little more while depicting gross stereotypes of smart people. Like the rest of TV, it's extraneous at best. Peace.
@aryelli Comedy? Look at this again and tell me how many times you really laugh at this rubbish. Be careful or ou're going to entertain yourself straight to death. With entertainment, you give an inch and you will give a mile. If this is just a joke, then what isn't? What do you take seriously in life? You don't take yourself seriously enough, otherwise you wouldn't willingly put off living your real life to swallow this stupid poison. I think you're better than that.
@mehico33 LOL, and proud of it. All I've heard is: Chill out, You take yourself too seriously, or It's only a joke. How about someone actually address what I said: 1) this show is so unfunny the best thing people can say about it is that it doesn't suck, 2) it's pathetic that people settle for "doesn't suck" because it's "smart," and 3) it's pseudo-intellectual marketing at educated people who don't actually know the references. BTW, I'm not targeting you, just explaining myself. Peace!
@scientrophic No worries im a neil tyson fan and dont actually watch the show. You dont seem to realise the very basic fact that all entertainment value is rooted in personal preferance/opinion. That fact that you expect to be argued with/refuted is pathetic. Obviously the only possible responses to "this show is unfunny" could be "I agree" or "yes it is". Its not some deep philosophical question... so chill out. Im not attracted to blondes, you might be, I wouldnt say blondes are ugly though
@mehico33 I like Dr. Tyson as well. I don't expect to be refuted, but all I've heard is "You're uptight," or in other words, ad hominem attacks, so how can I respond to that? The show is written according to the holy directive of media corporations, which is to market, write, and advertise to specific demographics and perpetuate the cancer of consumerism. Valid responses to that, my original statement, should not include personal attacks aimed at silencing rather than dealing with claims.
@mehico33 Moreover, considering how creative and naturally social 99% of human beings are by evolution, it's sad to think that most of America is indoors staring at a tube that offers up stupid representations of reality (i.e. this show), increasing their chances of Alzheimer's from sheer disuse of their brains (fact). Life is outside, in other people. So many other ACTivities (not PASSIVities) are "entertaining," why would someone choose this? Because it's culturally encouraged from birth.
@scientrophic Thats an interesting assertion, surely culture has cultivated couch potatoeism, but encouraged? I dont see it. Its just a product of our success as a species that we devote large percentages of our time to vice and leisure. It is said that comfort is self destructive, that masturbation/contentedness may prevent one from "bettering" themselves however all purposes are subjective, do you not value what freedom you have? Why encroach on others?
@mehico33 America is a nation with an obesity/cancer/diabetes/heart disease epidemic. Our children our being outperformed by third world countries. Our culture is officially approaching total consumption. The average American cannot generate his own culture and knows next to nothing about his cultural history. He refers to cultural authorities and dispensaries for his culture. Our individual behavior is heavily determined by culture, and a hollow culture of consumption creates hollow people.
@scientrophic Ok, night man... jsut one little thing: what's wrong with your little children being "outperformed by third world countries"? I assume that they live in the same world and should compete at the same level with kids from richer countries (supposedly. A bird told me the other day that Europe is crashing and U.S. economy hangs by a thread controlled by Chinese people...). May I have misread?
@crieiessacontaagora Nothing really, but social mobility is almost a myth in this country, and I worry about how many and what kinds of jobs will exist in this country for people who have poor educations because they're more concerned with the latest the Drake release and Street Fighter IV; consumption. I used to work with inner city kids at a charter school, and got to see what sorts of things occupied their minds in class. Lots of background noise.
@scientrophic Oh well, so the usual Americans don't do lots of background noise nor listen to Drake nor play Street Fighter... as well, people who came from outside always had "poor education" in their country of origin... sorry sir, but that was just... non-humanist and stereotypical. Poor thinking in all always.
@crieiessacontaagora I'm not sure what you mean, but I think you misunderstood me. I'm no nationalist. There is lots of global inequity. Americans entertain a standard living on the backs of poor people around the world. It's not right. The point I was making is that if a developing country can educate its children with its stretched resources, and America can't with all its resources, why? I think that it is the culture America is passing on to its children, or the culture it isn't passing on.
@scientrophic LOL, now that I've checked, I saw many of my grammar mistakes, sorry for that. Like when I tried to say "Poor thinking in all ways" but whatever, I was very tired when I said that. So I'll assume I was wrong about your point view :)
@mehico33 I'm not encroaching on others. I'm telling them the truth. Heavy television viewing increases one's chances of getting Alzheimer's. It's make people fat, stupid, and complacent. I believe in live and let live, but there are real consequences, on an individual and societal level, of the how our culture has atrophied. Culture matters, and our rich American culture has been quartered and bastardized by media corporations. We had Stevie Wonder. Now we have Lil' Wayne. Something is wrong.
@scientrophic I'm seeing that you're a humanitarian. Awesome. But again, Youtube was not made for it. You're actually speaking to yourself (and to those who have the patience to follow you, me included), but the people you're supposed to reach, are not. Btw, I agree with what you said.
@crieiessacontaagora You know, I know you're right. I was supposed to work on music before i went to bed, then I got some dumb email about someone responding to this stuff. Even if people aren't responding, some are reading, and thinking. I was one of those people. Even if I am talking to myself, I'm benefiting from it because I don't treat these comment things as trash. It gets me thinking. I went a good month without going on one of these stupid rants. All right, good night... lol.
@scientrophic well then you should say books are a waste of time books. fiction books i mean. because that is also just a story trying to represent life or create a nice image and a movie or tv is pretty much a book that you dont need to read. so you should not only blame tv but books as well
@anessone Good point. I try to avoid books unless they contain information or insights I might need. When you read the great fictions, you start to realize they they're all talking about the same thing - life. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's sad, but inevitably, they're talking about things you could be living yourself. Books and storytelling have utility in education and cultural development, but they are not a substitute for life. They are still consumption.
@scientrophic yeah well and you are saying you dont laugh at thsi show i dont either but there are probably people that like this type of humor and what the fuck are you doing on youtube. why arent you doing ACTIVITIES or watching an educational video on youtube.
@crieiessacontaagora That doesn't make sense. I don't watch it. It's important to talk about these things. If I don't say anything, then there is no informed opposition to the established authority, and people on the fence go on thinking that this show is OK because TV is good and the majority of people who watch this say it's good, when it is cultural garbage. Culture controls people's behavior, so mindless culture promotes mindless behavior. Look deeply at our society and tell me it's OK.
@scientrophic Looking deeply at our society, I realize that people like to tight up at their groups to hate on something that they don't like - while they could search for things that they do like. I'm actually trying to help you. There's right places for trying to change people's mind about whatever, and it's certainly not Youtube. The more time you waste here, the less you waste on something that might be interesting for you.
You don't find the line "Is that the guy you were telling me about?" to hold a gushing waterfall of comedic value that makes you want to laugh forever and ever? How could you be so humorless?!?! You probably like things that are actually funny, like when South Park pretends that Cartman has been such a bad kid that he actually owes Santa presents for Christmas. Or maybe when Stan's dad hires an actor to act like Stan's future self and pretend to be a drug addict in order to scare Stan straight?
@tpstrat14 I like South Park as well as many other comedy shows that the vast majority of people don't like. But please, I insist for you to read my comments directed to other people here. I just think you are taking way too far for a regular show.
Pluto ain't a planet! The problem is that kids don't grow up drawing the moons of Jupiter, the Kuiper belt objects, asteroid belt and numerous other objects troughout the solar system. The sun and the rest of the planets is all what they think it belongs to our great backyard and once you kick something out, people get upset. I didn't, I was always open to science :D
did ANYONE else think that they WOULDN'T be watching a painfully unfunny clip of a painfully unfunny sitcom called "The Big Bang Theory"????????? Where's Dr. Tyson's thoughts on the actual big bang scientific theory?!?!?!?!?! goddam that pissed me off..... the horribly unfunny, unwitty, thoughtless, STUPID shows people will watch these days......
@ImACuteGeek .... why are you reading a comment of mine then?
Don't like it? Ignore it and move on with your life.......i bet you don't even know that the big bang theory was a scientific theory before it was a really horrible canned laughter TV sitcom
@tpstrat14 I've been fascinated by cosmology ever since I was little. Give me the option of playing with a barbie or a solar system model and I would have gone for the model every time. I also enjoy neurology, phycology, and a bit of biology. But that's beside the point.
You pretty much got Rick-Rolled when you saw this video; but there's no point in getting into an "All-Caps Rage". I just found your reaction a little over the top so I just told you to calm down. That's all.
@tpstrat14 Gee, no need for all that rage man. I thought that was a great way to introduce Dr. Tyson to a broader audience. People get curious(pluto?), google his name and voila, Dr. Tyson's lectures that will change their lives.
@nutinurmacaroni This show is witless, uninteresting, canned and most importantly BORING. If you like it, then you are all of those things. That's the bare truth, I'm sorry. If you want to be uninteresting, watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or the old Office episodes (with Steve Carell). Better yet, turn on some Trailer Park Boys or South Park. Even better yet, don't watch television at all!
"If you want to be uninteresting, watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"
I hope you meant "interesting," that is one of the funniest TV series in YEARS. Mind you, its gone down hill somewhat the last year or two, but how can you find a show that crazy "uninteresting."

@Neueregel
You need to watch it from the beginning to understand the characters, otherwise it might seem unfunny. Some episodes are pure gold.
ArmandoXIII 4 months ago 3
@ArmandoXIII Maybe, but I don't have the time to watch the full show. Can you please suggest any good seasons or episodes?
Neueregel 4 months ago
@Neueregel
Try the pilot episode, is a good start.
ArmandoXIII 4 months ago
@ArmandoXIII Pilot episode? Thanks!! I'll have that in mind
Neueregel 4 months ago
@Neueregel It now has a cult following. You must understand that sense of humor is not "one size fits all", and what you may find funny might not be funny to the person next to you. I think it is just awesome that a science-based sitcom has become so popular, since it may engender more interest in that area of study.
kadene2 4 months ago
@kadene2 Something being "funny" is overrated. As William Blake said, "Excessive joy, weeps". People watching sitcoms "need" to laugh as a means of escapism, because their lives are inherently sad. As for the show, I haven't yet watched more than 1 episode, so I will not further judge it.

Wow i just lost a little respect for him. The fact that this show is popular tells me Americans are just getting dumber and dumber and that laugh tracks make people think old jokes are still funny.
InKa4484 4 months ago
@InKa4484 Yet, amazingly, much of the scientific community likes the show. They get the science right, it's respected enough that it can get scientists the caliber of Tyson and George Smoot (Nobel Laureate) and to have an article in Science magazine about it.
So, you can keep your opinion on who is getting dumber, I'll side with the PhD's...

Al3xX420 5 months ago
@Al3xX420 Personal taste. If you don't find it funny then why are you watching it in the first place?
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago
@crieiessacontaagora Because it's a Youtube video with 'Neil deGrasse Tyson' and 'big bang theory' in the title.
Al3xX420 3 months ago
@Al3xX420 Fine - then I need to bash some show that my favorite artist/writer/whatever was just because I don't like it. This is what smart people do, right?
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago
@crieiessacontaagora No, what smart people do is analyze. I don't like how Sheldon holds a grudge against Dr. Tyson just because Pluto is no longer considered a planet. Sheldon isn't stupid. He would know that the only thing that has changed is we have increased our knowledge of Pluto and the outer solar system.
Al3xX420 3 months ago
@Al3xX420 I'll understand if you're a professional criticizer, who do that for a living. If you ain't, then sorry, but you're not doing it right. You need to analize what's good for you - if Big Bang Theory is placed at the "bad shelf" of your head, just don't waste your time on it. I know that you got a "good shelf" there, so pick an option of many in this shelf, debate and analyze as much as you want.
If you still do not understand... good luck.
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago
@crieiessacontaagora The only thing I don't understand is your shelf metaphor.
Al3xX420 3 months ago
@crieiessacontaagora Here's why I made my snide comment about the show. Now's the tough part... to actually think and not make generalized insults.. THE SHOW IS SHIT!!!! lol.... No, but really, the commenters on youtube that tell the haters "Go find something you love and stop hurting my feelings" are pathetic. I HAVE found something I love. When I run across bad art, I try to point out the difference between quality and crap. If anyone is hurt by it enough to respond all butt-hurt, that is sad.
tpstrat14 3 months ago
@tpstrat14 Then you clearly didn't understood what I said (or just didn't read it). I'm not sad "butthurt" for what you said. I'm sad to see so many people wasting their time on something that they don't like. If it makes you happy to go on something that you don't like and keep commenting on it, I only can see you as a Youtube troll. But again, that makes you so happy? Go on then.
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago
@crieiessacontaagora "If it makes you happy to go on something that you don't like and keep commenting on it, I can only see you as a youtube troll". Right back at you. This show is shit. If you don't like my opinion, then stop commenting on it.

I agree. This show is constantly awkward.
lkaruga 6 months ago
I think the big bang theory is a great sitcom. That being said I hate sitcoms. But its probably good that we have at least one sitcom where not every premise has to do with Sex, and socially awkward stupid humor, and cheesy jokes set up miles away.
Granted being a sitcom the humor in Big bang theory is still incredibly childish. But at least it does far surpass its competitors. And brings people who normally wouldn't know anything about science to at least hearing about it.
GhostInTheShell29 6 months ago
@GhostInTheShell29 Big Bang theory is the media corporations capitalizing on an increasing body of college-educated people who have no idea why they got a college education, let alone one in math and science. This show makes them feel smart because they recognize the references but don't need to think deeply about them. As far as exposing science, it drops names and does little more while depicting gross stereotypes of smart people. Like the rest of TV, it's extraneous at best. Peace.
scientrophic 6 months ago 3
@scientrophic dude its a sitcom as in situation comedy. as in their to entertain us and make us laugh. People like you take yourselve too seriously
aryelli 6 months ago
@aryelli Comedy? Look at this again and tell me how many times you really laugh at this rubbish. Be careful or ou're going to entertain yourself straight to death. With entertainment, you give an inch and you will give a mile. If this is just a joke, then what isn't? What do you take seriously in life? You don't take yourself seriously enough, otherwise you wouldn't willingly put off living your real life to swallow this stupid poison. I think you're better than that.
scientrophic 5 months ago
@scientrophic Lol youre one up tight mother fucker
mehico33 5 months ago
@mehico33 LOL, and proud of it. All I've heard is: Chill out, You take yourself too seriously, or It's only a joke. How about someone actually address what I said: 1) this show is so unfunny the best thing people can say about it is that it doesn't suck, 2) it's pathetic that people settle for "doesn't suck" because it's "smart," and 3) it's pseudo-intellectual marketing at educated people who don't actually know the references. BTW, I'm not targeting you, just explaining myself. Peace!
scientrophic 5 months ago
@scientrophic No worries im a neil tyson fan and dont actually watch the show. You dont seem to realise the very basic fact that all entertainment value is rooted in personal preferance/opinion. That fact that you expect to be argued with/refuted is pathetic. Obviously the only possible responses to "this show is unfunny" could be "I agree" or "yes it is". Its not some deep philosophical question... so chill out. Im not attracted to blondes, you might be, I wouldnt say blondes are ugly though
mehico33 5 months ago
@mehico33 I like Dr. Tyson as well. I don't expect to be refuted, but all I've heard is "You're uptight," or in other words, ad hominem attacks, so how can I respond to that? The show is written according to the holy directive of media corporations, which is to market, write, and advertise to specific demographics and perpetuate the cancer of consumerism. Valid responses to that, my original statement, should not include personal attacks aimed at silencing rather than dealing with claims.
scientrophic 5 months ago
@mehico33 Moreover, considering how creative and naturally social 99% of human beings are by evolution, it's sad to think that most of America is indoors staring at a tube that offers up stupid representations of reality (i.e. this show), increasing their chances of Alzheimer's from sheer disuse of their brains (fact). Life is outside, in other people. So many other ACTivities (not PASSIVities) are "entertaining," why would someone choose this? Because it's culturally encouraged from birth.
scientrophic 5 months ago
@scientrophic Thats an interesting assertion, surely culture has cultivated couch potatoeism, but encouraged? I dont see it. Its just a product of our success as a species that we devote large percentages of our time to vice and leisure. It is said that comfort is self destructive, that masturbation/contentedness may prevent one from "bettering" themselves however all purposes are subjective, do you not value what freedom you have? Why encroach on others?
mehico33 5 months ago 3
@mehico33 America is a nation with an obesity/cancer/diabetes/heart disease epidemic. Our children our being outperformed by third world countries. Our culture is officially approaching total consumption. The average American cannot generate his own culture and knows next to nothing about his cultural history. He refers to cultural authorities and dispensaries for his culture. Our individual behavior is heavily determined by culture, and a hollow culture of consumption creates hollow people.
scientrophic 3 months ago
@scientrophic Ok, night man... jsut one little thing: what's wrong with your little children being "outperformed by third world countries"? I assume that they live in the same world and should compete at the same level with kids from richer countries (supposedly. A bird told me the other day that Europe is crashing and U.S. economy hangs by a thread controlled by Chinese people...). May I have misread?
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago
@crieiessacontaagora Nothing really, but social mobility is almost a myth in this country, and I worry about how many and what kinds of jobs will exist in this country for people who have poor educations because they're more concerned with the latest the Drake release and Street Fighter IV; consumption. I used to work with inner city kids at a charter school, and got to see what sorts of things occupied their minds in class. Lots of background noise.
scientrophic 3 months ago
@scientrophic Oh well, so the usual Americans don't do lots of background noise nor listen to Drake nor play Street Fighter... as well, people who came from outside always had "poor education" in their country of origin... sorry sir, but that was just... non-humanist and stereotypical. Poor thinking in all always.
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago
@crieiessacontaagora I'm not sure what you mean, but I think you misunderstood me. I'm no nationalist. There is lots of global inequity. Americans entertain a standard living on the backs of poor people around the world. It's not right. The point I was making is that if a developing country can educate its children with its stretched resources, and America can't with all its resources, why? I think that it is the culture America is passing on to its children, or the culture it isn't passing on.
scientrophic 3 months ago
@scientrophic LOL, now that I've checked, I saw many of my grammar mistakes, sorry for that. Like when I tried to say "Poor thinking in all ways" but whatever, I was very tired when I said that. So I'll assume I was wrong about your point view :)
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago
@mehico33 I'm not encroaching on others. I'm telling them the truth. Heavy television viewing increases one's chances of getting Alzheimer's. It's make people fat, stupid, and complacent. I believe in live and let live, but there are real consequences, on an individual and societal level, of the how our culture has atrophied. Culture matters, and our rich American culture has been quartered and bastardized by media corporations. We had Stevie Wonder. Now we have Lil' Wayne. Something is wrong.
scientrophic 3 months ago
@scientrophic I'm seeing that you're a humanitarian. Awesome. But again, Youtube was not made for it. You're actually speaking to yourself (and to those who have the patience to follow you, me included), but the people you're supposed to reach, are not. Btw, I agree with what you said.
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago
@crieiessacontaagora You know, I know you're right. I was supposed to work on music before i went to bed, then I got some dumb email about someone responding to this stuff. Even if people aren't responding, some are reading, and thinking. I was one of those people. Even if I am talking to myself, I'm benefiting from it because I don't treat these comment things as trash. It gets me thinking. I went a good month without going on one of these stupid rants. All right, good night... lol.
scientrophic 3 months ago
@scientrophic well then you should say books are a waste of time books. fiction books i mean. because that is also just a story trying to represent life or create a nice image and a movie or tv is pretty much a book that you dont need to read. so you should not only blame tv but books as well
anessone 5 months ago
@anessone Good point. I try to avoid books unless they contain information or insights I might need. When you read the great fictions, you start to realize they they're all talking about the same thing - life. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's sad, but inevitably, they're talking about things you could be living yourself. Books and storytelling have utility in education and cultural development, but they are not a substitute for life. They are still consumption.
scientrophic 3 months ago
@scientrophic yeah well and you are saying you dont laugh at thsi show i dont either but there are probably people that like this type of humor and what the fuck are you doing on youtube. why arent you doing ACTIVITIES or watching an educational video on youtube.
anessone 3 months ago
@scientrophic "Mehico" is right. Don't like it, don't waste your time on it (watching nor arguing about). Otherwise, you'll just be hypocritical.
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago
@crieiessacontaagora That doesn't make sense. I don't watch it. It's important to talk about these things. If I don't say anything, then there is no informed opposition to the established authority, and people on the fence go on thinking that this show is OK because TV is good and the majority of people who watch this say it's good, when it is cultural garbage. Culture controls people's behavior, so mindless culture promotes mindless behavior. Look deeply at our society and tell me it's OK.
scientrophic 3 months ago
@scientrophic Looking deeply at our society, I realize that people like to tight up at their groups to hate on something that they don't like - while they could search for things that they do like. I'm actually trying to help you. There's right places for trying to change people's mind about whatever, and it's certainly not Youtube. The more time you waste here, the less you waste on something that might be interesting for you.
crieiessacontaagora 3 months ago

You don't find the line "Is that the guy you were telling me about?" to hold a gushing waterfall of comedic value that makes you want to laugh forever and ever? How could you be so humorless?!?! You probably like things that are actually funny, like when South Park pretends that Cartman has been such a bad kid that he actually owes Santa presents for Christmas. Or maybe when Stan's dad hires an actor to act like Stan's future self and pretend to be a drug addict in order to scare Stan straight?

@tpstrat14 I've been fascinated by cosmology ever since I was little. Give me the option of playing with a barbie or a solar system model and I would have gone for the model every time. I also enjoy neurology, phycology, and a bit of biology. But that's beside the point.
