  • Lt. George: Yes, jump in the old jalopy and... we can relive the old times!

Capt. Blackadder: What, dig a hole in the garden, fill it with water, and get your gamekeeper to shoot at us all day?

  • In 1914 british soldier s did not have tin helmets untill1916

  • I dod not understand? Did the soldiers build the foothold and then these strange "re-anctmenters" in there to pose in carnival uniform and to "feel cool"?

Do not understand this american amusements somehow. Don't make a sence to me.

  • @acb1511 They simply need to bring conscipt system back - this will soon beat the whole shit out of their brains.

  • you forgot about the increasing mud hole filled with men.

  • 0:33 that face.

  • My favorite WW1 plane is the Fokker E3. Second the Sopwith

  • That construction worker boss has the most annoy voice I think I've ever heard.

  • candr that was vague to be the least lol. It's a Short Magazine Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk. III

  • hmmm.... i don't think that even through the worst of the wars... britain never gave up hope... they had the courage to go out there and fight for our contrey... and win the wars.. in many stories there were some happy events.. like one christmas the germans and the british dropped there rifles and played a game of football on no mans land.. and shook hands with one another... it seems we are only remebering the worst of the actions.. but lets not forget the good ones as well

  • do you know what model of the enfield was used in ww1?

  • @trooperburger123 Lee-Enfield 0.303-inch rifle

  • If anything, this vid reflects the bureaucratic nonsense and over-bloated nature of modern day gov't than anything Historical..

  • All this technology for one trench?!? Dig a line in the ground set soldiers ur done...

  • @mangastudios1 The trenches were often a maze with multiple lines and all connecting with bomb proofs underground and zigzagging with interlocking fire from machine guns streching for miles and miles with tons of barbwire. They were nealry impossible sometimes to capture even with tons artillery support the defences where hardly broken.

  • 2:27 So for safety reasons they decided to build it shallow enough that you'd have to walk around in a crouch so as not to get your head shot off? With all the modern reinforcements you'd think they could've made it a foot or so deeper. For an authentic smell, there should have been a lot of rotten meat placed among the sandbags. Of course every cadet should've been given fleas and lice too. Perhaps having the odd rifle grenade dropping in now and then would've helped to allievate their boredom.

  • The old mans song... is this a genuine adaptation of Waltzing Matilda? where did you get it from?

  • @ActuallyDave91 Hi Dave The song in the film is based on 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda', as written and sung by Eric Bogle, but he gave me permission by email to adapt it myself to suit the British scenario, and have it sung by someone here. Thanks for taking the interest - Annette.

  • what a epic music XD

  • You can say what you want about the Americans but they substantially improved the English language. I understand almost nothing what these Brits are talking about!

  • Guys VOLUNTEERED for this?

  • @breezeman199 i would hav but im 13 so i dont think thay would hav let me

  • My great-graps fought in WWI. He was in the Canadian Corps. Glad to see someone remembering that awful war.

  • Cadets are so stupid, thinking they are so cool :L

  • i got freaked out when i pressed 1 and then pressed 2...... try it! its wierd

  • do we still use trench warfare?

  • if only history class was tought like this....... well a man can always dream

  • I have a friend that re-enacts the US 27th Division which was attached to The British Fourth Army; they use the older Lee-Enfield rifle which is authentic.

I have very mixed feelings about this re-enacting business; yes, it's great to bring "history to life" but I also don't like the idea of grown men playing at being soldiers; the monument showing all those dead young men is pretty awful.

  • nice gay music

  • @rcspeedboat lol fool

  • oviouse the reanacters arnt real soilders

  • Were is this trench replica, Is it open to the public nowardays?

  • You want to know what WW1 was really like?

Go into your backyard and dig a hole. Live in it for 6 months, then shoot yourself.

  • @randomlook don't forget you need to eat your own shoe laces and clothes, make friends with rats, then climb out of the trench and have your neighbor fire a machine gun at you as you charge undefended towards him. then simulate the stench of mud dirt and rotting corpses, only then will you have even a fraction of the idea of what it was like for both sides to battle in these trenches

  • @MAnnaconduit1 dont forget the incessant gnawing of lice, the dismembered bodies of your friends, the unceasing deafening noise of bombs the size of volkswagens; the screeching of dying horses and the miserable cries for water by the lads croaking in no mans land.

  • @BluesHonkey Or simply arrange yourself to the army and do it all istead of having strange fetish fantasies..

  • @randomlook I wish I had it that good :(

  • @randomlook dude most combatants were only on the front line for 2 weeks at a time

  • @experimentaljetset93 Who in the world told you that?

  • @randomlook Noooo=))

    That's what this looks like^^

    watch?v=5SpIp461brc

  • @randomlook And tell your gamekeeper to shoot at you all day.

    - Blackadder

  • what is this from

And a trench built to modern day oh and s standards.lol..

  • blanks still make shots and Im in the 2137 calgary highlanders cadet core

  • It makes you wonder, would the US civilian youth have done this for our WW2 and WW1 veterans? Would they have shown the respect to their elders like these young boys do? It seems that all the American youth does now-a-days is sit around staring at either a TV screen, a cellphone screen, or a computer screen while they tell their elders to 'piss-off'. I should know, I'm 17.

  • @muffinmanxxx321 Hell id do it in a heartbeat and some of my friends said theyd do it to

  • @muffinmanxxx321

Well probably not, seeing as in the BoB, there was only SEVEN usa pilots, out of a populace of 300 million. Whilst New zealand with only 1.6 milion, sent over a hundred.

Thus, the USA is to be blamed for it's laziness. as our Grandchild (we did make the USA afterall) they HAVE to help. And to not help against the Nazis was inexcusable. As well as the filthy Polish here. The Polish fought AGAINST us, they JOINED the austro-hungarian empire! who we were fighting!

  • @WolfytheWolf5667 Americans made the USA. When we dont go to war, we're lazy. When we go to war we're impirialist. We can't F'ing win.

  • @Redlabdaddy64: I agree 100%. Another idiotic thing I notice Europeans do is complain American war movies always make Americans look like the good guys. They also call us arrogant just for being proud of our country's accomplishments. I also love how the British claim we entered ww2 too late but never take in account how many thousands of American merchant marines died from u-boats in the Atlantic while supplying England with everything from food to oil from 1939 to 1941. D-bags, all of 'em.

  • @tomthefunky Americans should be proud of their forces, but unfortunately as a people your education level is very low and you give the impression to Europeans that you are thick. The intellectual level of your modern war movies is similar to a boys war commic. And you lap it up without any critique. That is what makes you look stupid.

  • @AndreHiltre There are many problems with our education system, but America was built by illiterates and people with virtually no education at all. As Bill Buckley famously said "I'd rather be governed by the first 500 names in the Boston phone book than by the faculty of Harvard University". And considering the average American has three times the wealth as the averge Englishman, well, your education argument is silly. Stupid people don't create the richest, most powerful nation in history.

  • @tomthefunky The USA isnt the most powerful nation in history. You have just demonstrated your bad education and possibly low IQ. Secondly, nations with uneducated population scan build powerful empires, as long as they have a small educated elite. Exampli gratia Chinese Empire, Roman Empire, Ottoman Empire. Illiterate uneducated masses serve as good foot soldiers for empire building. Ah yes, the US Army!

  • @AndreHiltre: If you only knew what the U.S is capable of militarily, you wouldn't talk such nonsense. And considering you live in a country who'd have a tough fight on your hands if the Falklands war were to break out again, I say your your dumber than I thought. Listen, you just go on bashing America all you want, but we are richer than you, stronger than you and better than you....at everything.

  • @tomthefunky You are so stupid that you dont even have the ability to read and absorb what someone else is saying. I never doubted that currently the USA has the most powful military, just as Britain did from the 1830's through to the 1920's. The Romans also had that once dumbo. This discussion was on education, not on temporary military superiority, and it is temporary, the Chinese are catching up fast and today they hold trillion sof US debt. What else is the uS better at??? List please.

  • @AndreHiltre: China? Once America learns to efficiently and cheaply convert the estimated 1 trillion barrels of shale oil we have in Colorado and Wyoming, we will become the world's biggest producer and supplier of oil in the world and our debts to China will be paid off in roughly five minutes. An economic boom will take place in America that will dwarf anything ever seen before in history.

It'll be a while, but you'll be under Sharia law by then. Oh, well...

  • @tomthefunky I feel a bit gilty debating with you. Like an adult trying to argue with a small child. Yes boy, Im sure once the US processes shale oil then the trillions of dollars of debt will be written off in... "five minutes". LOL! You still havent listed what the USA can beat GB in. Apart from the military, what is better?

  • @AndreHiltre: Labor productivity, computer industry, space exploration, science and technology, manufacturing ( I can't think of one thing your country exports to us besides actors and popstars) entrepreneurialism, automotive engineering, fuel and energy industry.

Laugh all you want but our untapped energy resources are fucking huge. Largest in the world. Just wait.

  • @tomthefunky Why didnt you reply to my question? What are you doing sitting at home at 5pm? Are you a school kid? Or unemployed?

  • @AndreHiltre: I did reply to your question. Nineteen hours ago. And it appears you wrote to me asking what I was doing home at 5PM? Except it wasn't 5PM here in the States when you wrote asking that question. It was more like 4AM. Does that explain what I was doing home?

  • @tomthefunky So you are sitting up at 4am! A bum! Get a job bum.

  • @AndreHiltre What? Get a job? Tell that to the animals who rampaged through your streets a few weeks ago. Tell that to the muslims who march through your streets calling for your deaths while collecting welfare.

Britons have become infantalized. You not only don't work, you don't even breed anymore. Your collapsing birth rates have ensured there won't be an adequate tax base to support your welfare state. In other words, your country is royally fucked. And you call Americans stupid? HA!!!

  • @tomthefunky Niggers always breed faster than Europeans. Same in America. Those animals that tore our streets apart are allowed to do that because the country is run by traitors and left wing scum. I'd like to end welfare completey. It goes against Dawinist theory. Success = Survival. Failure = Death. That is the way we evolved for the last few hundred thousand years, and in the last 40 years these cunts want to take nature int he other direction.

  • @AndreHiltre: Yeah, and your police looked like a bunch of faggots fighting back against those assholes. Great job. You have the nerve to call the US Army 'uneducated illiterate masses', when your security police demonstrated the weakest, most pathetic display of strength I've seen in my lifetime.

  • @tomthefunky The US army is made up mostly of ignorrant dummies. That's why they recruit in some of the most deprived areas. Ive met some US soldiers before who were on their way to foreign postings and I was stunned. They had no idea about the country they were going to, we talked about cuisine and they had only ever eaten convenience food their whole lives. None of them had ever left America before! But you are right about the British police. A bunch of faggot cowards, queers and wimps.

  • @AndreHiltre: That's why you are such a fool, Andre. America's strength has never been fully disclosed. You dumb cunts have no idea what we are capable of. Did you know the New York City Police Department has a fully functioning navy and airforce? Now fuck off and stop pretending you work on our level, chump.

  • @tomthefunky You are rambling again. Your comments were not tied to what was said before. You are just repeating yourself and not commenting on my observations. I think you are another one of these uneducated Americans who have never left the US.

You are a disgrace to your country.

  • @AndreHiltre: The U.S. Army is made up of well trained specialists. You know that. Stop pretending you don't. You are trying to insult me by insulting the the U.S. Army. You come across as pathetic.

  • @tomthefunky You come accross as angry, and not too bright. Anyway, no more arguing.

You are right about a few things. The British police need to sack all females, queers and wimps and recruit hard tough men who dont mind shooting to kill. We should have brought in the Paras to deal with those niggers running like savages on our streets. I think US law enforcement took a better stance in New Orleans when the coons ran wild.

  • @AndreHiltre By the way, I notice that you replied to my comment about two hours ago, that would be about 5pm New York time. What are you doing at home at 5pm? Just finished school? Or unemployed?

  • these were'nt air cadets where they?

  • 5:31 haha, place the ball in your palm and push hard.

  • All the trench was missing 1 thing.

    RATS!!!!!

  • The trenches were flooded because the british were too stubborn or too stupid to fall back to high ground like the Germans did. The british took and held on to the low ground causing substantial troubles for the men. On the other hand, the German soliders were high and dry. The Germans might have been defeated in the war, but they sure were smarter then their opponents.

  • @pillowbugg If the allies had fallen back to "high ground" of which there was very little, then the German army would not have come any further forward to engage. They already had control of a vast amount of Belgium and France and the natural resources that came with it. The allies (the stupid British and French) had to prosecute the war and attempt to eject the invader from French and Belgium territory and therefore were left with little choice.

  • It's good to see that people are remembering the First World War. It's a conflict that is often forgotten.

As the narrator said, not having people shooting at you makes the experience less authentic- in my opinion, it nullifies it. These cadets all would be dead by now- if you read anything about WWI, the German Snipers would have made life impossible for these boys. Those surviving would know to keep their heads down. They need to be at a WWI reenactment- there's shooting and trenches.

  • The uniforms are so clean. The faces so fresh and young. After the first engagement they would have been so much older and much more of mess.God bless those guys that actually went through this in so many forms. Its almost like if your time is here and that is what is needed well then your fortunate in some way but such a high price for so many.

  • is this an extra crappy version of the song Waltzing matilda just remade to suit the british not the original autralian song

  • my grannys brother died in pashendale ,

  • hmmm. is that period plywood?

  • I saw this on cable a couple of years ago. This is a very good program!

  • there is only 1 ww1 vetiran alive

  • is that guy out of breath>?

  • Though any war, I would imagine, would be terrifying, WWI for some reason sounds like it was one of the most horrific wars ever fought.

  • @DemonWarp65 stalemates mud and a crap load of trench warfare

  • r these cadets and shouldnt he be firing blanks

  • @TheNERFDUDE97

These were cadets and they weren't firing at all, I just put the sounds in

  • @annettelowe1 Most of the film of WW1 we see had the sounds put on. In fact WW1 was a very quiet war, almost silent.

  • @annettelowe1 what kind of cadets?

  • @annettelowe1 The Cadets should of been put through some sleep deprivation to get a real feel of how a true stand to feels like, minus putting there bayonets on there chins for fear of being shot for falling asleep.

  • @TheNERFDUDE97 There were no actual rounds in their rifles. Not even blanks. It was just sound effects.

  • @TheNERFDUDE97 actualy cadets are allowed to fire blanks if qualified im a cadet and i am qualified

  • @TheUltimatekill69 i no im a cadet i ment that they are ment to fire blanks

  • @TheNERFDUDE97 oh ok lol

  • 0:34 Not to be rude, but he looks like a retard

  • Was this the trench near La Blinerie?

  • @whowantsabighug

Yes, the Trench was built in the grounds of Samares Manor near La Blinerie

  • Listen carefully to what the gentleman says: "Build a trench under constraint of modern day health and safety regulations" - goes to show you just how crazy war was :P

  • great video would die for that experiense i have the Canadian WW1 infantry kit with non-proper uniform and don't have lee Enfield smle but getting close

  • Very nice! Are these trenches still around In Jersey?

Seem's pretty interesting stuff, I do WW2 reenacting, but im going to eventually do some WW1, hopefully before 2014!

  • whats the song @ 4:54 ? ive heard the australian version about the anzacs but ive never heard this 1 before

  • @meganisationlubracat Sorry I'm late replying to this, but you are correct about the song. Eric Bogle gave me permission to use the Australian song as a basis and to change the words to suit the different context.

  • @annettelowe1 British Cadets get to do this?

  • the trenches werent to small

  • Where did you get those guns?

    Please tell me

  • PLEASE WRITE BACK is it homemade?

  • i think a re enactment society of a highland regiment is needed, pipes and drums would knock the other groups out!

  • oooo so ur national gaurd

  • Uhh i think we'll film it... not sure..... we're going to construct the trenches and film us with fake weapons and then most likely we'll play airsoft in them and i think we'll film that but we're not entirely sure.... we want to make mortar cannons so we can fire smoke grenades on the field... haha

  • That all sounds good. I do hope it goes well for you all

  • i just find war films interresting coz they show what it was like and it helps me a lot in history xD xx

  • Hi there - I'm really glad you found the film interesting and helpful for your studies. In Jersey it is now in all the schools for when they are studying the 1st World War.

  • so there like the rotc?

  • not rlly

  • we do S.A.R., homeland, recon, disaster relief, Emergency Services.... etc.

  • Me and some guys from my US Airforce Auxilary Squadron are working on a reenactment......... it's great

  • Well done, Airman. Glad you are enjoying learning about past ways. Wonder if you will be making a film of it.

  • Those poor guys. If they come to the United States and do that here, they can use real pyrotechnics, blanks, and explosions. Those rifles are probably deactivated, which is a shame. I like the trench though, looks like a lot of hard work and effort was put into it.

  • Thanks for your comments - I expect the cadets would have been pleased to be able to use real pyrotechnics if they had had the chance. Glad you liked the trench work - it did look good.

  • @Mr2ndAmendment I think they're actually Denix replicas.

  • empanao

  • PR for the military!

  • there cadets

  • Their cadets? How? A Cadet is someone who is under the age of 16 that are learning to be in the navy, army, marines, air force. Not a part of the real forces

  • no not a part of the real forces thats right but at the start they have insignia that says c.c.f which in the uk stands for combined cadet force, cadets in the uk is a youth organisation that has a military empasis.

so there ya go thats how :-)
