everytime i see that flag raising atop Mt. Suribachi...... chills, it's undescribable. every Marine ive talked to says the same thing. at graduation, my one friend cried, and the drill instructor noticed, and the DI said "you feel it dont you? that's what we're here for" it makes my 103 days untill bootcamp pass even slower.
@snipinggod29 Don't even think about the time you're waiting. Just keep that PT going and live up life while you can. Once you get to boot camp the first week there you're just gonna hate life. It'll pass once you get the groove of it. Eventually you'll get out of boot camp and wanna do it again EVERY DAY

Russia is pretty much a conscripted force. Sure they go through hazing (you can prolly find vids around here somewhere) which is down right brutal at some points. But define powerful.

@McCollum2009 I went to boot camp in San diego and the Paradise Island Marines always had trouble with the hills when they got to the fleet and were stationed in the west coast. We're all brothers though we just like to bust each otheres balls. Good luck. No sand flees but be ready for them hills when you go up north to Camp Pendleton. They will make you wish you were in Paradise Island

Thirteen weeks of boot camp, not training in general. Royal Marine basic is thirty-two weeks, yes. After your thirteen weeks of Marine boot, you go off to your MOS school to learn more technical skills - combat tactics, techniques, and maneuvers. You learn on the fireteam, squad, platoon, and company level. So, it evens out to about 30 weeks or so.

@McCollum2009 I went to boot camp in San diego and the Paradise Island Marines always had trouble with the hills when they got to the fleet and were stationed in the west coast. We're all brothers though we just like to bust each otheres balls. Good luck. No sand flees but be ready for them hills when you go up north to Camp Pendleton. They will make you wish you were in Paradise Island

Uh, bootcamp is not as hard as climbing something like THAT. But it is pretty hellish. Not all of it, but a good portion of it. 75% at least. Remember, it's not really Hell if you like some of it.

@lipjan I don't believe in stupid questions, but I would declare that the closest thing to a stupid question as one could get. Though, I'm not trying to be mean, but I must state that now. Marine Corps boot camp is the most grueling training in the U.S. Military (on a regular military basis) and in some cases, the world. No civilian organization has come close to how grueling their training is or ever has been.
Mind games, sleep deprivation, constant physical activity, yelling, that's boot camp

you probably have a pretty skewed vision of the army if you're a ~~**badass future marine**~~. when i was in the DEP and boot camp, i heard a lot of shit about the army (ie: you get 'stress cards' in army boot camp) that i later found out were flat out untrue.

JMFPilot the RM is a great bunch...but the U.S Marines have defeated them in combat.
the U.S Marines have never retreated in Combat the Royal Marines have.
I have watched vids and read a bit about the RM's training.
Truth is it's about the same as the USMC just a bit longer and combines classes that USMC would get after bootcamp.
in the RM basic training you can have posters and pictures around your bunk.
in the USMC that would be a dream to have a picture at bootcamp lol.

Also, take into consideration, the reason why there are 60,000+ USMC.....is because the USA its like 20x the size of theUK. This you have to take into consideration.
Besides, the RM are part of the Royal Navy, where as in the US Army, Air Foce, Navy + marines are all seperate.

40,000 reserve, all as of 2009. they just passed a bill to expand the Corps a
funny thing is there is a waiting list for ppl wanting Marine Infantry lol. that hasn't happened in a very long time. but yes the USMC is the smallest Branch in the U.S Military. U.S Coast Guard is part of the military but not the Department of Defense. or else they would be the smallest numbering 45k

@TUFFGUNN I believe your facts are incorrect. Besides, Royal Marines and U.S. Marines are allies and should respect each other (as they do) equally. Thirteen weeks of boot camp, not training in general. Royal Marine basic is thirty-two weeks, yes. After your thirteen weeks of Marine boot, you go off to your MOS school to learn more technical skills - combat tactics, techniques, and maneuvers. You learn on the fireteam, squad, platoon, and company level. So, it evens out to about 30 weeks or so.
