You do relies traction and rear end setup plays a big role in running low numbers. A 900hp supra with proper setup will run 9's. I know a guy in my area has ran high 9's with only 700whp on a 67 and a built auto transmission. What size is the turbo on your friends supra. Remember the bigger the turbo the bigger the lag and this results in slower times. A precision 6765 can do 900hp and spools up quickly and with a build auto and a healthy rear end setup can result in low 9's.

Stage3dsm rz Supras are quick in stick form as well they do 0-100 in 4.9 seconds which is fast. And people tune 2jzs coz they are easy to tune and cheap. I have heard they can handle like 800hp on stock internals!
