i like how they use animatronics and costumeing when they could. creates a better peoduct than pure CGI but some things you really have to CGI. i think where they did they did a good job though.

Yep. Pan, or the faun, was actually Dave Jones in a costume! HIs make-up took five hours to complete, and he actually didn't speak a word of Spanish! He played the Pale Man as well, aka "the creature with the sight-enabled jazz-hands!"

Yeah, I read that in a review of the movie. I messed up his name, though, it's Doug Jones. It's funny to read the cast list where there's a bunch of Spanish names and then in the middle of it all "DOUG JONES." XD

Doug Jones did speak the spanish, his voice was just dubbed over. He had to speak the old spanish right for the dubbing to look right/match up, you probably meant to infer this in your comment though.

...uh, no, I didn't mean to infer anything. Doug Jones does not "understnad" Spanish, that better? I know he spoke the language for the movie (even though he was dubbed over,) but he openly admits he didn't understand most of it! Just memorized the words. He was awesome (though I'm sure he was happy about not having to memorize any lines for the Pale Man's part. XD )

Here the effects are so subtle that you can hardly differentiate the real from the digital.
