I love how Death Note can cause such a massive debate sort of thing on Light's morals and intentions and it really makes us think. It's awesome. I am not pro Kira, but I like Light 'Imagay'. Which probably makes no sense since they are the same person but it makes sense in my mind.

I believe light started out with good intentions but as the death note took over all he became concerned about winning it no longer mattered who he killed as long as he was viewed as a god
Light WAS not evil. His intentions were noble but his procedure was not. The power he had made him currupt as the rotten people he wanted dead. It made him no different to a killer. He should hae understodd that the Law has its flaws If I had the death note (if it were real) I wouldn't do that. I know God will judge them -- us -- sometime.
One problem with that, he wanted to take matters in his own hands. God is what he was claiming to be. Expecting God to solve your troubles is never the answer. If Gos exists I cannot say, i'm not gonna make a debate whether or not God exists. However action must be taken. Do as what seems fit in your eyes. Which is exactly what Light was doing.
Yes, that is true. We cannot expect God to solve all of our problems. But still, Light's action was wrong. Killing criminals makes him also a criminal.
We cannot take all the darkness and replace them with light. The world wouldn't be balanced.
So, just allow the criminals to walk? Let them get away with the crimes they've commited? The justice system isn't always go to the favor of the victim. In this case Light wanted to become the essence of justice.
But what right does Light have to judge? How is killing criminals going to change the world? Sure, on the surface it appears that crime has decreased, but is it because people actually changed or is it out of fear? When Light died, crime went back to normal, which proves that Light's method of killing criminals--from petty to hardcore--was an ultimate failure. Light wanted to be a Dictator--how is a Dictatorship justice? Everyone deserves a fair trial, not an instant punishment from a bored teen
Perhaps Light never had the right to judge, but he was given a great opportunity. The ability to kill anyone he chooses, letting that chance slip by him would have been regretful. Living a life of what would've been then what will be is always the wrong choice. As I said he probably had no right to judge, his intentions were to purify the world from evil. He wanted to lead the world in a direction of his image. Don't recall the crime going to normal so I cant argue with that.
Everyone has the power to kill, so does that mean that those that do not murder waste a great opportunity and should regret not murdering those that could have been easily murdered? Light's intentions has never been to purify the world of evil, like he made his followers believe. If Light truly cared about the world, he would have done things to prevent crime before and after being in possesion of the DN, but instead he was more interested in becoming a god more so than helping mankind.
You can't possibly compare the gift to kill someone with the capability to kill.Those that murder are usually in cold blood, and their intentions are highly different, most of the time they will go through the murder. If they will regret it that's another story. Light would regret it because he would lose the opportunity to change the world in his image. I understand where both of you are coming from, you're points are both valid and well....some not so valid. Light Yagami was a murderer, no matter which way it is turned. Killing someone after they did a crime does nothing to prevent the crime or change people's morals. Light also killed those that already served their debt, how is it Just of him to kill them? Again and again I'l say that if Light cared about the world, he would have been doing things to help people drift away from crime before and while he held possession of the DN. He did not. Why do you think its Just to have the death penalty given out without trial or chance to prove ones innoccence?
True,killing someone after they commited a crime doesn't change what happened. However it ensures you that individual can no longer do another crime. Their morals may change due to fear, people who commit crimes the first time around often do it again. DH awakened his mind to the possibilties that could be done. He never liked crime before he just felt unable to do anything. It's the same trial you speak of that allows criminals to walk free, trials arent what you'd say fair now are they?
Ah, but if you feel that a criminal should be given the ultimate penalty--death--then my name would have been written down 6 years ago for shoplifting. I was a foolish teenager, but I've paid back my debt and my morals changed, not because I feared punishment, but because I felt deep remorse for my actions. I believe in the 6th Amendment--it may give the guilty the chance to walk, but it also gives man the chance to prove his innocence, and that one life is worth saving.
Well know, the way I see it theirs an exception to every rule. You can't tell me when they caught you that you didn't feel scared. Light kills those he knows that have committed a crime, he doesn't assume. So he won't be killing anyone guilty unless for some bizarre case the man he killed was framed for his crime. If someone is stupid enough to do a crime while Kira is around then I say they deserve to die. However I believe some people are capable of redemption such as yourself.
@AustraRyo The reasons we all don't kill is we know we have limited power, and that means ppl will obstruct us from keep going on with our cleansing. With the Note, Light can kill with impunity. That in itself is POWER. He wasn't interested in being a god worshiped by all, but just someone who has a godly power, to rebuild the world. He couldn't prevent crime b4 he had the book because his power was limited, and such efforts would be greatly taxing if he does it in the conventional way.
Having Light as justice means having to live in fear of letting others know your name which makes you a bit special as a person.

We're just humans. We can't judge our own kind. We don't know how the criminals became criminals and why they are. It's true that this justice we have isn't perfect. Yea Light was doing the right thing... Human beings who are commiting crimes such as drugs or killing people or whattever , are just placed in jail... Maybe it's not nice there but that is not enough for what they've done. They will be left out later and they will kill people again... Also, it's not only crimes... It's bullying at school or anything else... Kids who are bullied by others may have a psychological trauma ... Or something like that... Maybe that kid would become a great scientist..

I've been a victim of bullying and I will not want to have any of them killed. Yeah, they were a jack ass, but what will I gain for them to die? Killing criminals does not solve the problem. The same kind of fear that SHOULD, for many religions to enforce morals (whatever that may be). You are aware that this isn't a love song right? The only thing considered love in it is that the English version of the song that t.A.T.u is singing is Show Me Love, other than that it's Mein Herz Brennt by Rammstein, which I'm fairly sure is not a love song.

It's from the special Death Note anime movie where they merged the episodes together, following the story up to Ls death and adding a new ending scene where Light gloats over his grave as the god of the new world.

Light WAS not evil. His intentions were noble but his procedure was not. The power he had made him currupt as the rotten people he wanted dead. It made him no different to a killer. He should hae understodd that the Law has its flaws If I had the death note (if it were real) I wouldn't do that. I know God will judge them -- us -- sometime.

One problem with that, he wanted to take matters in his own hands. God is what he was claiming to be. Expecting God to solve your troubles is never the answer. If Gos exists I cannot say, i'm not gonna make a debate whether or not God exists. However action must be taken. Do as what seems fit in your eyes. Which is exactly what Light was doing.

Yes, that is true. We cannot expect God to solve all of our problems. But still, Light's action was wrong. Killing criminals makes him also a criminal.
We cannot take all the darkness and replace them with light. The world wouldn't be balanced.

So, just allow the criminals to walk? Let them get away with the crimes they've commited? The justice system isn't always go to the favor of the victim. In this case Light wanted to become the essence of justice.

But what right does Light have to judge? How is killing criminals going to change the world? Sure, on the surface it appears that crime has decreased, but is it because people actually changed or is it out of fear? When Light died, crime went back to normal, which proves that Light's method of killing criminals--from petty to hardcore--was an ultimate failure. Light wanted to be a Dictator--how is a Dictatorship justice? Everyone deserves a fair trial, not an instant punishment from a bored teen

Perhaps Light never had the right to judge, but he was given a great opportunity. The ability to kill anyone he chooses, letting that chance slip by him would have been regretful. Living a life of what would've been then what will be is always the wrong choice. As I said he probably had no right to judge, his intentions were to purify the world from evil. He wanted to lead the world in a direction of his image. Don't recall the crime going to normal so I cant argue with that.

Everyone has the power to kill, so does that mean that those that do not murder waste a great opportunity and should regret not murdering those that could have been easily murdered? Light's intentions has never been to purify the world of evil, like he made his followers believe. If Light truly cared about the world, he would have done things to prevent crime before and after being in possesion of the DN, but instead he was more interested in becoming a god more so than helping mankind.

You can't possibly compare the gift to kill someone with the capability to kill.Those that murder are usually in cold blood, and their intentions are highly different, most of the time they will go through the murder. If they will regret it that's another story. Light would regret it because he would lose the opportunity to change the world in his image. I suppose preventing a girl to get raped isn't preventing a crime? He wanted to purify the world, doesn't the essence of justice mean anyting?

The fact that for the past few days such a deep topic has been covered in the comments of my video...its interesting to say the least. I understand where both of you are coming from, you're points are both valid and well....some not so valid. Light Yagami was a murderer, no matter which way it is turned. He allowed the power of the Death Note, which he picked up by mere happenstance, to corrupt him. 'Ultimate power corrupts absolutely'.

It started out in his mind as an opportunity to do good, Justice. However it turned into a game to him. A manipulation of humans as pawns. Light became no better then the criminals he killed.

Killing someone after they did a crime does nothing to prevent the crime or change people's morals. Light also killed those that already served their debt, how is it Just of him to kill them? Again and again I'l say that if Light cared about the world, he would have been doing things to help people drift away from crime before and while he held possession of the DN. He did not. Why do you think its Just to have the death penalty given out without trial or chance to prove ones innoccence?

True,killing someone after they commited a crime doesn't change what happened. However it ensures you that individual can no longer do another crime. Their morals may change due to fear, people who commit crimes the first time around often do it again. DH awakened his mind to the possibilties that could be done. He never liked crime before he just felt unable to do anything. It's the same trial you speak of that allows criminals to walk free, trials arent what you'd say fair now are they?

Ah, but if you feel that a criminal should be given the ultimate penalty--death--then my name would have been written down 6 years ago for shoplifting. I was a foolish teenager, but I've paid back my debt and my morals changed, not because I feared punishment, but because I felt deep remorse for my actions. I believe in the 6th Amendment--it may give the guilty the chance to walk, but it also gives man the chance to prove his innocence, and that one life is worth saving.

Well know, the way I see it theirs an exception to every rule. You can't tell me when they caught you that you didn't feel scared. Light kills those he knows that have committed a crime, he doesn't assume. So he won't be killing anyone guilty unless for some bizarre case the man he killed was framed for his crime. If someone is stupid enough to do a crime while Kira is around then I say they deserve to die. However I believe some people are capable of redemption such as yourself.

@AustraRyo The reasons we all don't kill is we know we have limited power, and that means ppl will obstruct us from keep going on with our cleansing. With the Note, Light can kill with impunity. That in itself is POWER. He wasn't interested in being a god worshiped by all, but just someone who has a godly power, to rebuild the world. He couldn't prevent crime b4 he had the book because his power was limited, and such efforts would be greatly taxing if he does it in the conventional way.

@AustraRyo Light has no "right" to judge, but u must realize, "rights" are a stupid manmade concept that has no clout in the world beyond modern law. On top of that, It is meaningless without enforcement. One may complain SOME criminals didn't change, but you forget many crimes are from normal ppl acting unusually erratically. DN makes ppl think a second time, and light criminals to rescind from their ways. The IMPORTANT thing is, whether by fear or not, less crime = less hurt.

We're just humans. We can't judge our own kind. We don't know how the criminals became criminals and why they are. It's true that this justice we have isn't perfect. It has flaws, everything is flawed. The law we have, technical and wrong it may be, is the thing that could organize us on this Earth. Without it we would be in chaos. Like i have said the world cannot be balanced without dark.

Yea Light was doing the right thing... Human beings who are commiting crimes such as drugs or killing people or whattever , are just placed in jail... Maybe it's not nice there but that is not enough for what they've done. They will be left out later and they will kill people again... Also, it's not only crimes... It's bullying at school or anything else... Kids who are bullied by others may have a psychological trauma ... Or something like that... Maybe that kid would become a great scientist..

I've been a victim of bullying and I will not want to have any of them killed. Yeah, they were a jack ass, but what will I gain for them to die? Killing criminals does not solve the problem. If Light really wanted to make a difference, he would be trying to prevent crime, such as making after school activities for kids, helping the homeless get jobs, getting the mentally unwell on meds, etc., but instead he mercilessly gave everyone the ulitmate punishment. That doesn't sound Just to me at all.

I don't know what u get from their deaths... but they decrease the self-confidence of the person bullied, they make him believe that he is useless, while he may be someone exceptionaly smart ... The sadness invoked by their deeds may have many other effects.. i guess i can't explain cuz i don't have the proper vocabulary to do so... :\ but I think u can understand, since u do not seem to be a retard like many people in youtube... :)

@AustraRyo it wasn't the fact that he killed that was really doing the job of making the world a better place to live. It was the fear induced in the people. The same kind of fear that SHOULD, for many religions to enforce morals (whatever that may be). But the power of some Divine Watcher wanes when people seem to be getting off the hook, or retribution being gray. So here we have universal fear of Death keeping people in line.
