I watched this the night before last and I nearly cried. My father died in April of this year, he was 24 yrs old in 1956 and took part in this revolution. Seeing the young actors playing as students (which he was) walking from the Bem Statue to the Parliament (he was there) made it all very real for me. RIP Schuller Ervin, 1932 - 2011

I'm very pleased to be Hungarian and because of this film, my soul is so happy.This is a sad story,the 56s year's happenings.I'd heard a lot about it,my grandmother lived that time,and she's still alive now.
It wasn't you who did this"munjaduna".There are many brave and honourable Russians like Zsukov,Kutuzov,Vasili Zajzev and many more, Stalin and his legacy were our enemies...the same with the nazy Germany:in spite of animals like Hitler,Goebbels,Himmler there were honourable warriors like Rommel and kindhearted people like Schindler...the only problem was that we dared to revolt against our Stalinist antidemocratic dictatorial government(Rákosi) you should have revolted against Stalin himself...
we managed to make the Russian garrison withdraw(without real army against Hungarian communist organs as well like ÁVÓ,it was similar the KGB) but the they returned with 2000 tanks and...with small arms and civil force...we had no chance...
schindler jószívű ember? haggyuk már a hollywoodi meséket.. az igazi schindler azért dolgoztatott zsidókat, mert olcsó munkaerő kellett neki és a zsidók épp jól jöttek neki. a háború után meg hőst csináltak belőle..
Hát, ezt nem tudom, hol olvastad, de talán nem ártana azokat a beszámolókat is elolvasni, amelyek azok az emberektől származnak, akik mindezt átélték...
I haven't seen the film yet, but I live in Budapest. It's an honor to live among such courageous people. I hope this film encourages those standing against tyranny in Belarus, North Korea and parts of Russia.
