@greg0716 I would say only if you needed to speed up the sample or increase the pitch. Normally I think most scratch a quartz lock on 33 or even slowed down...since its easier to cut up phrases and such when its moving past the needle slower.

I know a lot of guys using digital means (Serato Traktor Torq...) with tables that have huge pitch range will load the sample that was already pitched up an octave or so...so then can slow it down a LOT and still have it sound normal.
