@norabudgie It's 290 miles from Calais to the Nurburgring. I don't know how far you are from Dover or what mpg your car does but the MG ZS used about 30 mpg normally although it dropped to about >10 mpg on the circuit and the tank emptied fast. Let's say £150 or thereabouts. Good luck!
@mattyprice4004 Hope you had fun. I've got a Porsche Turbo S now and took it to the ring last August (2011). The Grand Prix circuit was added to the Northern Loop for the day. Loads of track-day specials and ring-experts overtook me and yet I still cooked the tyres in two laps! Brilliant day even so. By the way, the guy holding the camera in this video had to be airlifted to hospital when he crashed his bike and nearly died there in 2010. Take it easy!!!!
i played this with the force feed back wheel in GT4 sooo many times. after we beat the game and got the wheel we would spend hours over and over and drinking lots of beer. my ex girl friend even finished a lap with the PTcruiser(she drives one in real life and actually proved her skills are hte same in real life as in GT4)
but i think i could at least finish my first lap in less then 15-20 min with a normal car. id say 3 months doing nothing but playing this track
@dbspaceoditty I've been playing GT5 and can lap at about twice my real-life speed depending on the car. Even with the feedback wheel, Gran Turismo doesn't give a realistic experience. Although it helps you remember the route, you don't get the terrifying feeling of your car and steering wheel going weightless on the brows of hills, just when you want to take a bend on the other side. Knowing you can re-start the game lap at no expense is very different to risking your car and body for real!
i went there last year in my MGB GT, and that corner when you dont know the track is a complete bitch the way it suddenly tightens up. Lots of fun though, and to those who say bad driving, id like to see you do it without shitting your pants!!
Your Mum told me you didn't have one. To think though, if I'd had 50p for a condom all those years ago you and your problems would never have happened!
@dsjxcx shut up you braindead arrogant bellend, your 1.0 Corsa isn't up to much either, I saw you in it the other day pulling handbrake turns in Morrisons carpark!!
Good old Adenaur forest catches another victim. You must resist aiming for the apex left on entry and stay wide right and slow, like the commentry though SHIT SHIT!!
Not bad lines for your third lap : ) ignore the forza experts, only when you get there can you find out what your ability really is. I have a guided lap for you check my vids
Hi mate, nice car :) I've got a mk2 ZS110 (don't laugh at me =[ ), it's my first car so I didn't want anything too poky. I'm probably gonna get abuse for this but your zed sounds a bit like a DB9 when you rev it, I likes. Is it a first-gen or facelift?
And I really wanna go round the 'ring at some point, best wait until I get a more powerful car, eh?
Thanks for the positive comments skaterkid901! That ZS 180 was built a few months before the final facelift so it didn't have the fancy vents on the wings.
I'm no expert at all, we were just a couple of mates who took the afternoon off work in Belgium and spent the afternoon / evening scaring ourselves at the Nurburgring. In my un-informed opinion, you don't need a powerful car to enjoy the experience. The less speed into the corners the better until they stop surprising you!
Joei2008 I don't know if you are a driver but driving your own real car in a track with other drivers too is very a difficult task so you cant be as aggresive as you might like from fear of damaging your car or other cars.
I dont think your "arse" is 300bhp, my MG ZS is at 200 BHP and I I have done is the exhaust and induction. Adding a super charger + some more mods would increate BHP quite alot. remeber that the FQ400 Has 400BHP out of a 2L turbo engine, this a 2.5L with Supper charger.
Thanks for the advice. We're going back to the Nurburgring for the second time tomorrow (24th April). I'll try to remember that tip, especially while we're waiting for the track to be cleared of wreckage from the latest video-game kids to have a go.
Man this video just invites comments! anyway learning the track in a game is safe for you and others the only thing it cant teach you is the altitude changes. Dont mock the gamers.
its adenauer forst, yeah, and its a famous place where loads of let me call it 'ring newbees' are going straight there. Lauda crashed a bit later on the track.
I'm itching to give my ZS a workout like that but it's a bit new and I'd hate to mangle it. How much do you pay to get on the ring, anyway? Is it like a day pass? Any tips on which is the quietest time of year/week/day? You looked like you had the whole track to yourself almost. Nice video.
Thanks. I think I paid 64 euros for four laps. That seemed the best deal. I'd heard weekends are almost hopeless now because of the traffic, and the very high number of crashes which close the track. I got there about 18:00 on a weekday in August. You can drive until it gets dark. Take it easy and you'll have great fun!
I didn't know about the bend on the brow of the hill at Adenauer Forst, so I approached all wrong (3:55). Maybe it doesn't look much on the video, but at the time I thought I was going over the kerb to whatever came next (grass as it happens). The brakes were pretty good on that car and saved the day. Glad I didn't have to post a spectacular smash instead!
Yeh i know what ya mean, i've been there a few times, first year i went.. me mate took his skyline and around there he powerslid and well got it wrong big time. and on the left hand corner.. he got it fully out of shape and ended in the wall LMAO (4:30)!! ill see if i can find the video of it.. Brave by me tho. kept on filming :D but it is truly one AWSOM track!! going bk nxt year..
That might be because I'm driving a real car on a real (notorious) track, so crashes work out a bit more expensive than playing video games! It's also good manners to let experienced drivers pass on the left side.
Thanks for watching my vid e3opian! Even in an ordinary MG it was a brilliant day out. You won't be disappointed, but watch out for that flippin' bend!
Haha... yea they sneak up on you. I ran a road course this past May (no video, my camera needs service) and spun off the course going over an uphill off-camber turn. I lift throttled and next thing I knew I was in the dirt!
I do have video up from a fun little back road in the mountains I visit. Check it out!
how much petrol did it cost to go there and back????

mstevie192 2 years ago
my advise is learn the track a litte before you go next time, i found playing GT4 for 6 months really helped my time's 8.15 in my supra tt.
suzuki17dt 2 years ago
played GT4 and been to the real nurburging.
While they are similar, they are nothing alike.
The camber and gradients on the 2 differ alot, using gt4 to prepare for the real thing..... i wouldn't advise
Personaly i advise taking a 2 day trip (like i did)
Day 1 learn the track and slowly build up speed.
Day 2 thrash the beast, see what times you can set.

I cant believe your not wearing a helmet! I know its not a requirement but 1/3 of all car driver deaths would be saved if they were wearing helmets.

On the vid it doesn't seem like a near-crash,
but I can imagine irl it did ;)
Btw: I like your attitude towards the ring. Too many newbees who bring their own ánd others life in danger by trying to set a new laprecord. Have fun

Sorry mate but Seeing as I have a ZS180 with induction and custom exhaust with decat...you dont get 200 bhp lol.
Cams and full intake/exhaust with mapping gets you 220bhp roughly.
There is no V6 with 300BHP in a ZS.
