Its a 99 civic si(canadian), with 119000 kms. Paint is excellent no rust. Paid 6000 cash. The si in canada comes with d16y8 and the si-r comes with the b16.

The only reason i got it is becaust my 03 gti 1.8t, modded hard, was totalled in a flood. Any one know why the vtec crossover in my d16y8 is not noticeble? though?

if you listen carfully the vtec actually crosses over at the normal RPM. that switch is just hook up to somthing that makes the car sound like that. its not a vtec switch.

Try cleaning the screans out in your vtec sullenoid (I can't spell) out, and using royal purple or some other type of really good synthetic oil. That should help, it did on my b16 hatch and my f22b1 CL.

i seem to be burning some oil to. not coming out of the exhaust and can smell it being burned but i will fill my car with oil and about 3-4 weeks later the oil is GONE, bone dry. i herd the vtec solinoid gasket and cam seal leaks alot on honda with vtec and high miles. but on your behalf, how do you clean the screens in the vtec solinoid? and did the results that you said to do make the vtec louder or more noticable? and what kind of oil like 10w30 or 5w30?

Just spray carb clean through the top of the sullenoid and let it dry out then put it back on. And I would say 5w30. And I would check the valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket too.

Yeah VTEC on a switch is pretty gay/ really ghetto way to do it. Swap motors, it isn't worth the trouble of putting VTEC on a car if the solenoid doesn't work properly. The d16y8 should have a VTEC head in the first place.
