  • What is this song about?

  • I miss you!

  • there are 14 abnormals in the world

  • @LightsOfShadows Yea.... i listen to each and every one of their songs, and when i heard the lyrics for tHAT song.

    i cried.,

i literally just bawled my eyes out.

No pain in the world could suffice to her death, and no one could help heal it.

  • No one can feel exactly what we feel but everyone can feel this song and throw this inside himself. We All have just one life here and we should watch out around us and look in to human heart with heart, gently till he is still alive. After we can still pray ...and live our life beautiful as we can.And after ...hope we will meet there all ...

  • This song reminds me of when i used to have depression,

    And i got insomnia,

And started hallucinating off of lack of sleep ♥

  • Every time i listen to this song i die a little on the inside because it pains me to see how those shit pop stars are more popular than this... THIS is music and Im the only fing person i know who listens to it... where is world going with music??

  • I have 340 favorite songs & growing every day/month. I want all of them played at my funeral. 42hours, yeha

  • I almost died from a concussion 3 weeks ago ........

  • The beggining of the song reminds me of the theme music of Dexter

  • this song put me in my zone(L) holly depressing comments

  • My only wish.....the only dream i wish to come true ti end my life, is for her to be broguht back to do it herself. The Irony is deserved, and i think it should be deserved.

  • @ShadowWocky so sad :(

  • @ShadowWocky Anna Lee is the name of a Dream Theater song :D

  • When i was only 10, (im 16 now, but the pain will live in my body forever) my best friend Anna Lee, she had fell a long distance down a cliff...it was my fault. i wasn't strong enough to pull her up. I loved her so much i asked her to be my wife, when i was only fucking 7 man!.....idk....idk if god didn't give me the strength to build it later on in life, or just to torture me with that haunting sound of my voice violently changing, and that bone snapping sound....

  • My 16-year-old best friend died. This song fits loss so well :/

  • My friend's sister died today of brain cancer. She was only in 9th grade, but has found eternal peace and happiness. Rest in peace Morgan.

  • just...exelent!!!

  • 4:25 - best dream theater part ever!

  • There is a gap of over an year between @arawzan's and @TheFacilidade's comments. I wonder where everyone had disappeared...?

  • this picture is awsome xd

  • 2:04 - 2:36 That is one of the most saddest, beautiful, vacant, cold riff I have ever heard.... It gives me the shivers every time.

  • @sourcegamer101 your comment reminded of their song ''vacant''

  • This song is about James LaBrie losing his mom. It goes along with Vacant from Train of Thought, which is about him slowly losing her to Alzheimers. Definitely one of the most emotional songs I've ever heard.

  • @goodygoody23 Actually Vacant is about his daughter... but yeah it's all the same idea.

  • @ilikechicken001 Ah really? I was misinformed then

  • reminds me of twin peaks

  • que buen tema

  • Best song ever

  • My girlfreind lets me yesterday night...and really i dont know why!!! all what i know that this song discride really what i feel !!!

  • @arawzan same conditions here

  • @BOOMERANGgr

and here, though it happened some time ago

  • Guys,i'm so sick and tired for all this Blá blá blá about MP leaving! I clicked on here just to relax and listen this amazing song called disappear, and i'm already caught with people discussing and changing insults, come on morons,MP is only taking some holyday, even cause TAMA is angry cause he has a contract with them,if MP don't record next cd with DT he's gonna pay a high price for break it! Relax and sorry for my poor english!

  • I can't listen to this song without imagining what it would sound like if Radiohead covered it. I miss these slower songs from DT, I hope they go back on that path somehow after Mike's departure..

  • No Portnoy didn't DT to play with Avenged Sevenfold..He just wanted a break and talk to the guys about it and they didnt want to break so they decided to go there seperate ways for now..Look up Eddie Trunk's web page and should find the interveiw he did with him over the phone lastnight it was very good..plus if you look on John Petrucci's forum he answers questions about it and its all really good...both items mentiond should clear up alot of BS being spread about Mike.

  • :( i can't believe MP wants to leave DT...it's so sad this situation...

  • This song will live with me as the day Mike Portnoy left DT and my grandmothers funeral......two very sad and heart breaking events in my life

  • @Sprocketboy84 Portnoy left?! OMG no! really? and why?

  • @lolnoobomgwtf Apparently he left to go play with Avenged Sevenfold.

  • @Kovaji No, he didn't leave for Avenged Sevenfold, he left because he felt he needed a break from Dream Theater, and he wanted to play with other bands he was a member of like Transatlantic. The next Dream Theater's album will be different from the others without Portnoy :/

  • @Kovaji

Apparently he tired to be everything in DT. I understand him very well.

  • @Kovaji Untrue. Portnoy persistently informs everyone that it was his own decision, and A7X didn't influence his decision whatsoever. In fact, he wanted to quit long before he even filled in for the Rev.

  • @Kovaji Untrue. Portnoy persistently informs his fans that A7X played no part in his decision to quit DT. In fact, he had wanted to quit long before A7X even asked him to fill in on drums. In fact, more than a whole year before.

  • @superevan07 Keep it mind that Portnoy didn't intent to quit either; he just wanted the band to take a break for a year or so, but Petrucci denied and the rest is history. Portnoy had burned himself out, and I find it sad :(

  • I loooove this song. it has a very eerie sound to it

  • so very melancholic

  • i love this song: days disappear, and my world keeps changing, nothing you say will help ease my pain,

  • @DREAMTHEATERCHICK the "a day like today my whole world has been changed" is my favorite part. actually it's the same as yours, but earlier in the song. It captures the essence of death better than any death metal song.

  • @FranLesPaul -i know, my fav bit of the song aswell.

  • I agree with some of the comments. LaBrie should write more of the lyrics and should have more say in the music. In fact, lately, Portnoy and Petrucci, (despite how awesome they are) should allow more input from the rest of the band, especially Labrie and Myung.

  • This song, together with Misunderstood and Space-Dye Vest , somehow gives me a same feeling about my life.....

    Beautiful...

  • Respond to this video... this song would be perfect for the theme tune for a silent hill game

  • WOW.... Blown away..... Intensely... emotionalll.... soo.. creatively composed...

  • Wonderfull! Wundervoll!

When your'e drunk, when your'e alone, when your'e desperate!

Let's get free from all the shit in this world. Just for 6 Minutes, but gaining power for 6666 Minutes more!

For all the dark nights on your PC, vote this!

  • This song has a very deep meaning to me, because not only do the lyrics perfectly sum up how I feel when I have to deal with the death of a loved one, but the music is also VERY well written to set a very distinct and strong mood, at least to me. Quite possibly my favorite song by Dream Theater

  • @ProgressiveEccentric Courtesy of Mr. Labrie, Portnoy and Petrucci should let him right the lyrics to abit more songs.

  • Mom...

  • @Nickolaars Let me guess. You want to make 13 very unlucky people disappear?

  • My grandfather died at 2:00 AM this morning. This song describes pretty much everything I'm going through. God I love Dream Theater.

  • @Slibdude i never knew my grandpa, you should remember all the good thigs you did together...

  • @DemonPuncher same... at least, not well.

  • I love this song...

I'm more into heavier stuff, but this is just beautiful

  • 4:28 always gives me goosebumps

  • wow, i can't believe they actually topped Space-dye vest

  • So I'm moving on I'll never forget as you lay there and watched me Accepting the end I knew you were scared You were strong I was trying I gave you my hand I said it's okay letting go time to leave here And I'll carry on The best that I can without you here beside me Let him come and take you home
  • the beginning is so depressing... also the verse reminds me of a radiohead song... don't you feel the same?

  • does this song have a 5/8 time signiture?

  • @Flailwielder Good ear. It has 6/8 in some spots too.

  • @Flailwielder you can hear it especially in the acoustic part

  • Piece from the sky , thanks :p .... The Univers dancing

  • The harp effect part love it

  • That intro gave me some wicked goosebumps... not a first for me with dream theater, but still... amazing band

  • What album is this?

  • @CanadianNoob17 Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence (disc 1)

  • @CanadianNoob17 six degrees of inner turbulence

  • Days disappear

    And my world keeps changing

    I feel you here

    And it keeps me sane..

  • any chance i can get that picture to use as my desktop? beautiful.

  • @tys519 I found the picture at interfacelift(.)com

Search under landscapes, should still be there.

  • @Kovaji thanks a lot man

  • days disappear...

  • This is one of those DT songs I kept skipping over. I don't really like the weird shit in this song. Finally I gave it a listen. Silly, I know - but it reminds me of the night we put my GF's (now wife's) dog to sleep. Her folks were away and she couldn't bear to be in the room with her. I couldn't let the dog die alone...so I gave her my hand...she was strong...

  • my fav of all time... the melody is simply hauting...

  • love this song, love this band, i really sad song

  • does this sog have a 5/8 time signiture?

  • @Flailwielder the beginning does

  • @Flailwielder then it goes into 6/8

  • This song always makes me cry...

  • i can hear tremolo

  • @emmanuelrodulfo i can hear perfection

  • Perfection..

  • this song is a masterpiece

  • @AllTheBreathingBE

I don't know think the suffering one dies. I think JLB himself is the suffering one and he sings that he is carrying on.

  • Yes it's about "death", but specifically this song's about a beloved one that dies, and the suffering one commits suicide, I think...

  • I don't know why people keep thinking about silly meanings in songs. This song, in my opinion, is simply about death.

  • Yep.

  • @Niamorg1007 On Mike Portnoy's forum, somebody posted a link to an interview with James LaBrie, and he said that this song was inspired by a young couple he saw in a mall that were walking together and appeared to be newlyweds who were in love. James said he thought, "What if one of them were to suddenly die? What would life be like for the other?" And thus you have one of the saddest songs ever written.

  • @shrederiffic2380 ohh, I see... Thanks alot for this information, very interesting. :)

But in my opinion this song can have lots of different meanings. And that makes it even darkest and saddest.

Anyways, thank you for 'correcting' me bro.

  • @shrederiffic2380 listen to this and "How to Disappear Completely" by Radiohead back to back. just make sure to have something happy to do afterwards :P

  • @Niamorg1007

I think that good songs (like dt makes them) manifest in how different the individual interpretations can be, without beeing false..

It's about death for you and this is good so!

It makes simply no sense to argue about the meanings, when everybody can find it's individual meaning...

  • @DrSoltberg Well , I guess my comment was quite stupid. You're totally right my friend. That's what make some Dream Theater songs so special. Lots of different meanings indeed... (except when the subject is obvious, like in Systematic Chaos, or Scenes from a Memory). But you're absolutly right. Everybody seems to have a different interpretation of this song.

  • @Niamorg1007

    Thank you :-)

  • @Niamorg1007 Yes, the song is about death. The man in the stories wife had cancer and did not survive. Its about my mom & dad.

  • @RangerDave This happened to you...?

  • @Niamorg1007 hmmm probably because there are other songs about death in band members families. A Change of season, the best of times, take away my pain, do your research.......

  • @Niamorg1007 hmmm and that is why it is one of my favourites

  • @Niamorg1007 It is about death, not "simply" death, but death nonetheless. It is specifically about James LaBrie dealing with his mother I believe.

  • @Niamorg1007 its about losing someone you love and gettting over it. the person 'disapeared' hence the name.

  • Beautiful song... simply beautiful.

  • everyone hate this songer but i love it !!!!!

  • What the hell? If you meant singer, then go suck on a lemon, hes a really good singer.

  • This song i refer it to the word... "GLOOMY"...agree?? the song is awesome..there's a QUIET POWER in it..

  • It's really painful for me to listen to this song. Brings back so many hurtful moments... But I can't help it, it's so beautiful...

  • I love this song so much.

  • I dont know why, but from 2:04 to 2:35 the song makes me think of some graveyard at night with corpses everywhere o.O

Anyway, i love this song. I think it's quite underrated...

  • i always think of some kind of scary movie when i listen to this lol.. its just the intro though

  • I always think of my mother who passed away five years ago when I hear this. I miss you, mom.

  • Dont worry, she watches over you.

  • quand dream theater fait dans l'émotion sans feu d'artifice, on obtient un titre mature...juste beau

  • I want to know the meaning of the song please

  • @Seargeras I think it is related to the inminent death of some special woman, like a mother or a wife. Look at the lyrics: "Blue sky, I'll meet you in the end." "Free...them...free the memories of you. Free me and rest 'til I'm with you." "Nothing you say, will help ease my pain" "She'd want me to move on" "This place I still belong..." "I feel you here and it keeps me sane." "And I'll carry on, the best that I can without you here beside me" "Let HIM come take you home". It's my opinion.Bye!
  • its about a man who is losing his wifeto cancer. Through the song he feels depressed and lost. But towards the end he feels free and realises he has to to leave her...The end piano/guitar riff represents that she has died and also that he will always remember her where ever he goes.. Glad i could help :) i didnt want to tell everyone the meaning because it could of put them off lol...if you listen to this song again with the meaning, its quite sad. :)

  • The song is about a couple LaBrie once saw in passing. He imagined how they would feel if one of them got a terminal disease and passed away, and that's what Disappear's about. (btw, it has nothing to do with vacant)

  • @SilentFox12345 yer vacant is about when his daughter had some kind of seizure and fell into a coma-like state. only for a brief period though- she's fine now! :D

  • if anyone is stupid enough not to understand, go hang yourself ;)

  • haha Lol

  • and i thought SDOIT was an awesome album before i heard this song!

SDOIT - best DT album out there, hands down

  • @Kynitt I don't know if it's the best, but it is FUCKING AMAZING!

  • aweb0 esto es musika

    n0 sus mamadas de reggayton

  • Yeah. I can't usually listen to an entire Dream Theater album, but they have some excellent songs.

  • @Kovaji that's right :) I would love to see them still with Kevin on keyboards

  • @kovaji

i wouldn't. jordan rudess is the greatest thing that ever happened to DT

  • @chaveznieves yer i think he has a more 'dynamic' input to the band. kevin moore was very soulful

  • @MulletMan3108

i disagree but thats life lol

  • great song great structure and very emotional

  • Sorry... you have replayed the message already.... you now... I'm almost blind!
