I love the Union. The present, and the past Union. The South had no right to destroy the union between the states, however the North did not ever help the matter by killing the Confederate rights. . . .
And it was an extremely horrid fight that need not be fought. . . . I'm just happy it turned out the way it did -- I couldn't stand seeing colored men busting their backs for Caucasians like me. . . .
I love all you Americans out there. . . southern and northern. :D
I love ole confederate songs. SOme union songs to. But I think the union was hypocritical and corrupt. They denied the South freedom to trade with England which was a right by the founding fathers, They placed heavy taxes on the southern trade gave them bad pay for their goods and took away and obtained their land prior to the war. I dont support slavery or nothin slavery was on both sides not just the south. But my opinion is The Confederacy had the best reason to fight Deo Vindice DIXIE rules!
The Confederacy lost the war and won the peace. Ran up a cotten curtain until the early 1960's. Union men can echo Sherman's sentiment: "there are a class of men in the South who constitute the slave owning class. They must be exterminated."
pete, the song is about sons killing other mothers sons, the world is lacking diplomats, T E lawrence of arabia said, old men start wars, young men fight them, great song pete
Now, now...One of those soldiers was a Union boy (the one who shot his brother...) Having had as a great grandfather (Charles G.W. Macgill) a surgeon with Stonewall Jackson`s Brigade and another (Pennock Huey) a Union Colonel I see both sides pretty clearly.
God save the South
