I love how this is before katrina! I am born and raised here. I stayed for katrina and am still here. Its AMAZING how its came up so much but at the same time i miss the old waveland ms so much.. Seeing this made me miss it even more!
Before Katrina I lived in that neighborhood (Shoreline Park) before Sav-A-Center off of 603, ... I miss my hometown :( ... but at least I'm not far away like alot of people still are
God know i miss my home it will never be the same god bless the bay area thank you for the video rememberances it touches my heart to know we are not forgotten
I spent my childhood every summer there. I had family there. We wood stay for two weeks every summer. My family lived north of the tracks. I remember they would tell stories about Camiele. My great-great uncle made it out alive and so did his daughters. His sister would not survive from injuries. Only one house in the family still stands today. The same one that survived Camiel.I wish more people would realize not just Orleans was flooded, but Mississippi coast is no more.
Once I realized where I was, South on 603, passing Sav_A-Center, I started to cry. I had forgotten. Turing East on 90, then changing to South on Washington to the gulf, turn Right onto Beach Blvd., then inside the coffee shop/kayak store...then sit, look out the window and...remember........how it was..... oh God, thank you.
was in waveland last week to volunteer. stayed at a place on tabor st & would
drive -- cross the rr tracks -- to work on a house just n of beach blvd.
no shops at all on beach yet -- didnt even stop to think there'd been shops along there too
was just there 3 days & never'd even heard of waveland (hancock county) ms before then. beach & gulf were a paradise view, but knowing the monster lurked out there on the water was spooky too
I love this video but am too choked up right now. thank you. I had become so used to the devastation/destruction that I forgot how wonderful it was, before.
this is mostly of bay saint louis, next to waveland...i am nearly 2000 miles from my home...bay saint louis is my home...thank you for this it makes me feel good & homesick at the same time....
Wow. I was in Waveland last year with a mission trip trying to help out some of the people there. I am shocked to see the difference in what it looked like then and now. I had never been there before Katrina. I recognize some of those streets. Unbelievable. We are coming back there next week, I pray I see some differences.

This is sad. I will always remember the coast before the storm. Big E's is where we went floundering when I was young. I will always be a Bay Rat!
