@k2sexy4u I thnk that philosophy is all about any interpretation within being on the same page' Its like this' people dont know how to explain things that we all experience' now is that a parodox? or is it simply confusious saying that confusious is any metaphor for any human malady' any malady is within having a confusing relationship which doesnt make any sense' its a human thing' does a dog know its a dog/
I think it might be that Marx claiming it was offside is actually a reference to Marx turning 'Hegels philosophy on its head' by claiming that the material leads to ideas not the other away around thus why he was a materialist and hegel was an idealist .
@cp3shadow But that wasn't Marx idea, claiming that the material leads to ideas. It was actually Ludwig Feuerbach's Idea. He should have been playing, than Germany would have won because Feuerbach's way of playing is inspirational and new, wether Marx just stole his ideas. Once again you see that Luther isn't very versed in football (or philosophy...).
If you are interested in philosophy, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. Invite everyone you can reach to participate in the contest.
"The Germans are disputing it. Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx is claiming it was offside."
All philophy professors should test their students with this, if they laugh, that means that they get it. (I'm just not too sure about the part about Kant though)
@wasmachstdugern Well, regarding an actual soccer game, I'm not sure. If you mean in a metaphorical sense, it would make sense that a philosopher would "score" with those who thought like him ;)
Great goal. It's amazing what a bit of inspiration can do. I particularly like the ball from Heraclitus to Archimedes. It reminds me of Pele's pass to Carlos Alberto in the 1970 world cup final. Archimedes looks like a very good player.
The problem with philosophers, they ask the right questions, but they limit themselves to answers, that only make sense in the 'racinating portion' of their mind. Plato though, was great. The Greeks have more to offer than the Germans. I like Nietzsche though. German philosophers, sending too much time in their 'mind', seem to have pyschological problems. It probably would have helped them as men, if they did play soccer!
Actually, America has had its fair share of Philosophers. Both William James and Charles Peirce are examples of America's contribution to Philosophy. Though America's quantity of Philosophers hasn't been as high as Britain, for example, the quality is nearly proportional. If it weren't for those like Rorty it might even be higher. Then again, my best Philosophy prof is British...
There's also Plantinga, but its still nowhere near the number of philosophers in other regions. The fact that Greece had such a focus on philosophy thousands of years ago, and its largely ignored now, is disheartening.
Funny you should mention Plantinga; for about a week I was convinced his name would be spelled Plantinger because of my prof's british accent. Angus Menuge--great man really--he specializes in logic and the philosophy of mind.
Have you heard of the Pragmatists? If America was around the same time as the ancient Greeks with an established civilization then you would have as many famous Philosophers as any other culture or nation. You have to realize it was the Greeks who established Democracy over 2000 years ago.
the description for this is incorrect. it says "soccer" in Britain and most anywhere else except here, it's called football. why we call it soccer...i have no idea.
"..and the Germans are disputing it! Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely a priory adjunctive of non-naturalistic ethics. Kant, by the categorical imperative, is holding that it ontologically exists only in the imagination -- and Marx is claiming it was offside."
"Here's Marx; Lets see if he can put some light in this German attack- evidently not."
"The Germans are disputing it. Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx is claiming it was offside."
At the end the commentator notes that the Germans had triumphed against the English midfield trio of (Jeremy) Bentham, (John) Locke and (Thomas) Hobbes. That's why I asked about Mill and Russell. (Locke was Scottish by the way).
"and Marx just claims it was offside." So brilliant! I love that Martin Luther is the manager for the German team! St. Augustine and Thomas Aquinas as the linesmen! Great!
This ranks as one of the most intelligent, clever, and accurate pieces of humor I have ever seen. Nietzsche accuses the referee of having no free will...brilliant!
