  • DAT CATAPULT

  • Hooyah!!!

  • i use to be a aircraft director...but then i took an arrow in the knee.

  • @manuel32720011 fuck off you shit

  • @TheFsdd hey come on!!!! i typed that when it was in. i hate it as much as you now. lol.

  • Multi million $ shot awesome. God Bless America. (From the UK)

  • Gayest job in the fleet, yellow shirt!!!!

  • Where do you get a set of those flagger cones?

  • Damn...this brings back memories. I was on the old Oriskany CV-34 during its last cruise in '76...we had the old A-7 bomb barges...the Corsair II with VA-153...I was on that fuckin' deck everyday.

  • i want that job.

  • SUPER EXCELLENT - I was on CV64 - yes excellent video - thanks for posting.

The details all the way to the line up, nice work.

  • man that guy in the yellow is fast!!!

  • listening to the awesome sound of the Tomcat and then hearing the sound of the hornet, well, to put it lightly, is depressing

  • @wolfpackunr2 Dude, thats a legacy, its not the latest fad man. all about the E and F. Those things are monsters.

  • TELETUBBIES DANCE.... YEAH!!

  • I wanted to see him go down on the knee and do the kung fu looking finger point, GO STEAL SECOND !

  • Well that launch kinda puts to shame my little Piper Archer takeoffs at the airport. If there is one thing I wish I could do before I kick the bucket...it's get launched like that! I'd rather experience that than have the best sex with the hottest broad on earth.

  • How I miss working as an ABH. Not everyone can work on deck. Some are just rocks.

  • what kind of asvab score do i need to become a navy shooter?

  • @lukeluna99 A shooter is an Officer. The guy directing is an enlisted person. And ASVAB are not that high. But one has to have a head on str*8 to work the deck. Can not be a Gommer.

  • sweep forward, then back. Babies are pretty easy down in fly 2, try it up on cat 1 or 2 at night =)

  • thats sexy as shit...I ship out in 3 weeks, cant wait o be on a carrier

  • @dpecora86 .........dp, on behalf of all of America thank you for your service, be safe and have a safe return home. God bless and anchors away!!

  • theres just something working a long side aircraft that gives you a buzz a jog like no other.

  • Is aircraft director a good job in the navy? im joining and i want this job.

  • @350z350zify its a very good job, its very hard to get too though...

  • @350z350zify It takes a hard working person. It is looked down on by many. But they could not do the job. It is a small club. And as an ABH or AB. We take that job to hart. And dont put up with BS from a candy ass in the Navy. Who think they are better. Give it a shot. You will love the rush from the flight deck. Nothing like knowing you could get wack everyday of your life when at sea. In peace time or war. It's all the same to the flight deck crews.

  • @skeetcva34 found out i cant even join up anyways, medical DQ ):

  • TOO many menories....

  • I am a kid on Xmas eve when I see these things!

  • 0 - 60 in?

  • @TheNitronaught more like 180 in like 3 seconds dude thats wat i heard

  • @TheNitronaught very very fast

  • @TheNitronaught A blink of an eye. ;)

  • what if a plane wrong the line up?How can you push backward an fully load plane? You use a tractor?

  • @TakumiFujiwara80 no, a few people can push it back

  • thats one hell of a rollercoaster

  • I would love to have this job, but I have a question. I live in Belgium and I don't know if they do such things there as well as I don't know if you need to follow an entire millitairy drill. I don't have any conditions. So could I do this job?

  • Why is he wearing camoflage? I can plainly see him!

  • @ATBirdMan I can answer your question. I worked on the USS Constellation doing the same job. We used to wear the same trousers that the other services used because there was a very big supply. We were given surplus trousers at no cost. Some people would wear the standard issue dungaree trousers too. The dungaree's didn't hold up too well on the flight deck. The flight deck is a tough place to work and people would wear out their gear quickly. Hope that answers you question.

  • Captus15, what are you talking about?

  • Hold on here, Camo pants on a navy ship?

  • yup ab's wear that

  • Love fellow Navy airmen.

  • get your hands up and stop walking with the a/c lol

  • It makes me warm in my heart seeing all that kind people waving good-bye to the pilot.

  • V1FLY3...PO3 ABH CV60 79-82

  • I haven't lauched an aircraft from the flight deck in 30 years and it still gives me a "Hard On".

  • been 20 years for me and yea your right if i could i would go back

  • @Dogfish1960 haha so im guessing you put the hard on in quotations because it doesnt happen anymore? lol...fuck, I dont want to get old...jk. Thank you for your service sir.

  • @bradlyw420 It still happens, just not as often ... lol.

  • @Dogfish1960 Haha, well atleast you still get some use out of it...

  • They must get like 5-8Gs taking off.. Damn!

I love the sound of a Plane :D

  • no actually they dont go beyond 5 gs accelerating, calculate, 0-135 mph in 3 second approximately!

  • whats behind the plane

  • its the wall that keeps the jets engines thrust from pushing anything off the deck such as people aircraft etc

  • ohh thanks

  • blast deflector shield

  • ABH2 here from USS Ranger CV -61...I miss this....

  • Ahhh....the good old days!

    (CVN-70) Vet

  • this is F 18 Hornet

  • i thought video cameras werent allowed on the flight deck.....o well. nice vid!

  • They aren't...just hide it. Most people won't say anything but the safety guys are assholes.

  • This video would've been better if the aircraft was an F-14 Tomcat

  • damn shame they retired the Tomcat...now the f'ing Irianing's are snatching them all up can u believe that?

  • Yeah man I hear ya. But don't worry cuz Iran isn't getting any parts from the F-14D models, so they won't even come close to touching them. I am happy at least that one country is still flying them, in a way that means that the Tomcat still lives on.

  • Thats right...but hears the thing...TopGun was an outstanding movie (minus all the insecure homo comments by all the insecure men)...but i always imagine a part II, with Cruise and Kilmer as Admirals coming to the rescue the other...or one in the Atlantic the other in Pacific and the US is under attack (052309), with some young actors playing young and cocky Naval Aviator.....what you?

  • Haha you're right, Top Gun 2, the Later Years. Too bad there ever wont be a movie with the F-14 starring ever again....

  • I love Top Gun...

Think the Super Hornet would be a suitable replacement?

  • No. Not in a million years would the F/A-18 be a suitable replacement. Top Gun was meant for the F-14 and the F-14 only. If they did something on the F/A-18, the movie would make the producers look like shit compared to Top Gun. Top Gun was one of the best movies ever, and nothing can top it when it comes to aviation

  • Yeah but the F/A-18E is sooo sexy...not quite a Tomcat, but we don't have much option, do we?

  • well i just think that Top Gun should be a tomcat thing, not a hornet.

  • Times change...

  • yeah...especially since they used F-5s instead of migs. Ultra realistic.

  • @dimitri02 You again? Stop saying stuff about te F/A-18. IT SAVED THOUSANDS OF LIVES IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN!!

  • lets see, i commented on this video 5 months ago jackass. your comment makes you sound like a fag.....

  • and by the way, you make it sound like the F/A-18 was the only plane that saved lives, The B-52 did, the F-14's did with great precision and destruction, the B-1 as well as F-16's, A-10's, and F-15E's. dont forget the infantry as well. get the fuck outta here and hit the books retard =)

  • your right....all the planes you have listed played a critical roll.... what is sikorsky`s problem?

  • He thinks that the F/A-18 is better than the Tomcat including the ones listed and that its the only fighter that saw action.

  • sounds awesome, if only it could be like what your described

  • i didnt like working with the Tomcat! they were big and hard to chock and chain, pain in the butt!

  • was a stupid joke about the guy in green running in the front of the f-18

  • Thats your opinion, most people I talked with had fun with it and enjoyed because it was its last cruise with VF-213 and VF-31. It was all worth it, and the Tomcat will be missed.

  • surely this has to be the most dangerouse job on earth...with much respect to the Alaskan Crabmen and the Axe Men of WA ,OR. and MT.... any1? any1 any1?

  • I found a Mustang Survival flight deck vest on the beach in NC last weekend and "A/C Director" is stencilled on the back. Yogi Bear is written in magic marker in the reflective area and the initials LDH are written on the bottom. Could this have blown off the deck?

  • why do you guys wear the woodland camo on deck? i think it does look damn cool :)

  • single seaters?

  • anyone have an opinion on the best flight deck job?

  • Well, I'm sure the pilots have the most fun, but I was crash and salvage on the Eisenhower and we never did anything. There were a couple scares here and there but I fell asleep alot...hard to imagine you could pass out with jets like that at full power, but in those hot suits and cranials it's no problem...

  • so i just signed up to do ABH will this be what i will be doing?

  • you will be a blue shirt. chocking ang chaining. the only way to go beyond that is to prove urself. You can go to crash, or yellow. It isnt easy going to either of those, and depends if you are V-1 or V-3. V-3 just chocking and chaining in the hangar. V-1 chocking and chaining also but more of it with night ops. Oh and dont forget all the bullshit that comes with it. Have fun. AND PAY ATTENTION AT ALL TIMES. MOST Blue shirts are stupid and dont pay attention.

  • so how is it that i can prove myself ?

  • surely this has to be the most dangerouse job on earth...with much respect to the Alaskan Crabmen any1? any1 any1?

  • pretty damn close

  • yea and you would need lots of training to become a flight deck crew

  • Your right...what about night ops? do they place any type of reflective deck edge warning tape for those guys? so they won't walk over into the sea thanks Horne

  • Kind of but not really. There is barely any light but you learn your surroundings quickly. Not to mention there are nets that line the flight deck so if you stumble off odds are you'll fall into one of those.

  • hey pal learn to do the thriller dance.

  • I also was under the impression green shirts ran the show.. please confirm.. are they above or below yellow in terms of responsibility

  • What are you talking about? Shirt color only has to do with what someones job is, not their rank. The yellows are giving signals to the pilot and the green ones are performing maintainence

  • I know the color is job function, but I cannot see them taking some green, new recruit and making him an aircraft director. I was asking if you have to do certain other jobs before taking that position. Shirt color may have to do with the job but I'm sure most of these guys are all or close to the same rank. I thought the green shirt was the guy who had the final say. Aside from the air boss of course (Yellow shirt)

  • Once you're trained for a job that's pretty much your job for your career. The yellow shirt you see there directing the pilot is most likely an NCO with a lot of experience, but theres other yellow shirts under him that are right there assisting him and learning from him (one day they'll be doing the directing). Nobody performing an enlisted function in rainbow gear has "final say" on anything by the way. There's an officer somewhere there keeping everything in place.

  • So this is how it goes, i was an ABH on the kitty hawk (the ship in the video) i know this was a year ago but still to not correct you would be wrong. ABH=handler= Blue and yellow shirts. you must be a blue to be a yellow. 1.chock and chain. 2. tractor driver (tow birds). theses are blue shirts. after mastering that you become a yellow shirt, the director. ranging from E-3s and up. dont have to be high ranking. there 3 job titles that work the deck, ABH (blue/yellow), ABE (Green), ABF (purple)

  • @LynchM34 You know your stuff! There are a lot of other rates that work up there too...I was a PH (photographer) who worked on the Tomcat's recon system in the early/mid 80's. It's a tough job, something I would never even cnsider doing now that I'm older and wiser....it's for young carefree men (and women!).

  • @LynchM34 No, a yellow (director) doesn't have to be E-3 up, at least not in the USS Nimitz. The best blue shirt to ever walk the USS Nimitz flight deck was a guy nicknamed VG from fly 1, deployment 2005

  • @Kopihucky yellow shirt are in charge of aircraft movement on the flight deck. Green preform maintenance. Its the color of the pants denotes rank. Woodland Camo is enlisted crew men and Tan pants or desert camo are officers.

  • wonder how much fuel the pilot burned between 1:20 to launch.

  • do u have to be a blue shirt be4 u can be a yellow one?

  • yes

  • are men only allowed to be aircraft directors....?

  • women are allowed to be anything except SEALs and SWCCs

  • @AScann3rDarkly and submarines

  • Nope, i was a director on this ship, im a female, did it for 3 years it was awesome! there isnt that many females that work on the flight.. worked with the guy in the vid

  • What's that thing hanging out this one dude's ass?

  • looks like a radio

  • a radio ^^

  • Awesome video!!!

  • mitico!!!

  • VFA-192 World Famous

  • rock on air dept ,thats from air v4 uss enterprise cvn 65

  • I was a yellow shirt for 3 years. Loved it but man was the pay shitty. Back to civilan life. See yah!!

  • Go VFA 37 Bulls!

  • Total chaos on the deck with running around quick, I LOVE IT !!

  • Superb coordinated direction on the flight deck.

  • I was in V-1 Division Flight Deck on USS Saratoga long days & haard work

  • That was totally bitchin!!!

  • It's really noisy when aircrafts are takig off!

  • working on an aircraft carrier is the best duty in the navy. I'd do it again any day of the week.

  • now i'm puzzled, is flying off the deck better than seeing other doing it lol

  • that is awsum

  • God I miss workin up on deck so much. 18-21 hour work days baby wit no days off. That's what the F I'm talkin about!! F a 9-5. AB's run the flight deck, God bless America. lol.

  • that board is called a JBD or jet blast deflector, the name says it all

  • catapult?

  • hey, whatz the board behind the plane for

  • Its a JBD to stop the heat of the thrust from going waaayy behind the plane

  • Oops didnt see it was already answered... sorry about that

  • It's a jet blast deflector, it channels the exhaust up and away from people and equipment including other aircraft. that exhaust could blow one down the deck!

  • Brought back lots of memories of yellow shirt work V-1 Div., USS Saratoga CVA-60.

  • Great video. One of the most dangerous jobs in the world, performed to perfection by 19 & 20 year-old kids every day all over the world, 24/7/365, so we can sleep safely in our beds at night.

  • Right, I forgot that the whole world wants to conquer and invade the USA. What a piece and cheap crap, do you really buy it? Apart from this, the video itself is great.

  • Moron, they don't have to invade anymore, dumbsh1ts like you let them walk in. Don't suppose you noticed the extra clothing that guy was wearing, probably wet also. Not to mention, been up since 5am, not going to get off till at least 2am. You wouldn't last 5 minutes in his job. F*^k off and get a life.

  • Rippin' at full turbine!!!
