I went there this August 2009 in a Volvo S80. The roads are very shaky with unexpected holes and bumps but the Russians are working on it, however slowly. The first half of the Murmansk - Norway stretch is good, but south of Murmansk it could be terrible. I was amazed how fast the Russians drove, though. They must have special suspension, or something. But the traffic in Mumansk is perfect even though it's heavy. Never seen such exemplary behaviour anywhere in Scandinavia.

насколько я помню ездил в 2007-ом летом по этой трассе М-18 "Кола" от Питера только первые километров 50 нормальное покрытие было, дальше полный пиздец, а в городе Лодейное поле такое месево, просто как будто дорог нет

What was the guy doing so far north in russia. There's not much up there but a port city and rain and cold.....

Norway is close, and stuff is cheap. Murmansk is fine to. Get a nice hotel, go buy stuff, night clubs are ok. And during summer its nice and warm to, believe it or not, even 30 celsius.

Its a cheap way to se a Russian city for sweedes/finns and norwegians. But yes, real deal Russia is Petersburg, Moscow, Sochi, Siberian cities. They are pretty nice. Murmansk gets a lot of damage due to all that winter. Still they do their best to keep it clean.

You mean stuff is cheap in russia? I know Norway isn't cheap except for houses. I've been to Sweden, and know they can have a wide variance of weather. Your countries are way better than russia thou.

Yes. In Murmansk its cheap, but Murmansk is also one of the cities in Russia with poorest population, it may look like its about to change though.. But still, things are much cheaper in Murmansk, than in Moscow/St.Petersburg. Moscow is the most expencive city in the world 6 years on a row now..

I was driwing a hawy loaded toyota dyna from murmansk to kirkenes. But there is also good parts on the road. It will newer be the same jumping in a normal car.But driwe carfuly,if u see skidmarks in front of u-there is a big bump. Dont try these roads in a vw carawelle it is simply not built fore rads like this.

I realy dont know,you must reamember that i was driwing an old toyota dyna and a litle owerloded. Hwit a normal car it is not so bad.
