  • What did you do to your hair? I noticed it's in a different style... And plants are not sentient (lack brain, neurons, etc. and all basic parts needed for the organism to be able to achieve sentience).

  • There is also newer book about similar subject but I'm not sure it's been translated into English (yet). It's by German scientists and filmmakers (there is also movie by same name) and it's called Kluge Pflanzen (Smart or Clever Plants) by Volker Arzt. It tells about research that showed that plants do have something that plays a role of nervous system, muscles and even brain, they can communicate and seem to have some primitive consciousness.

Thank you very much for your comment and Thank you too for this information, it is very much appreciated ♥

I shall look into the book and film you mention.

    Thank you again ♥

  • A lot of science here! NOT... How can plats feel pain or emotion without a brain or sensory neurones. Someone didn't go to school

  • @2eddc

Thank you for your comment ♥

I can appreciate that plants have a very different physiology from animals, but I feel that this does not exclude them from feeling emotions or pain. Just because their biological structure differs from mammals does not mean that the structure they do have is incapable of feeling pain.

People used to justify fishing by saying that fish could not feel pain until they learned differently. I feel that plants are indeed sentient beings ♥

  • Have you considered broader issues? Like, say, that fruit trees generally require rich soil which is not adequately replenished by returning fruit peel, pith, and other material after eating?

This effectively means that if you're a fruitarian, you take-take-take food and don't contribute to giving anything back to the soil that sustains the fruit trees you require for food. Seed dispersion or not, it's not really a fair give/take.

Is this less important than the issues you're discussing?

  • @Lakkhesis1976

Thank you for your comment ♥

It sounds like you are concerned about fruit trees needing a lot of nutrients.

I think we can enrich our fruit trees by using our own green compost, and rock dust and zeolite. I think also fruit trees are part of the balance of nature and the microbes, worms and other small creatures that live in the undisturbed soil under the trees are all part of soil health and balance.

I feel all trees are very valuable to soil health and structure.

  • Very lovely video Anne! Thank you for sharing your beautiful thoughts with the world. <3

  • Anne, you look beautiful. I love your inspiration.

I'd be interested in reading about this topic at 30bananasaday, vegsource etc if there's anything on it.

  • @natureasintended

Thank you for your comment ♥

I have not found much discussion on plants having feelings on these forums.

I think there may be some threads on 30Bananasaday.

I think it is sometimes challenging discussing this because the statement of plants feeling pain is often used by meat eaters against vegans.

So I felt a need for this video; by talking about plants having feelings, I am not attacking anyone, just expressing how I feel about plants and animals.

    Love and Peaches XX♥

  • @fruitbatanne dear Anne, it's clear you're not attacking anyone. I know you're much loved in this community as well. I'm interested in reading more on the subject, as I am all things LFRV. Love and peaches back <3

I think the Secret Life of Plants is a very interesting book, I read it many years ago, and it had a profound effect on my life.

As I became aware that the plants around me had their own consciousness, I feel my mind and soul were opened up to other ideas and possibilities.

It is sometimes difficult though, to express this belief without people feeling that they are being judged for eating plants, which is not at all my intention.

  • Very nice video Anne.It sounds a lot like your beautiful book The Path to Paradise which was one of mine and Michael's favorite books. I think Michael labeled himself a FRUITARIAN bc of your video that you made a while back and your book. It made so much sense..of course we both still have tons of salads in our diet, but the main source of calories would be our beloved fruit! Thanks for making it sound so simple:)

And look forward to seeeing you at this year's Woodstock Fruit Festival ♥♥♥

  • Thank you for this Anne. You brought up a lot of good points that I've never even thought of. I've heard the "plants have feelings too" argument and have always laughed it off. Your explanation was easy to understand and very compassionate. I'm not ready to be fruitarian as I am still struggling with staying 811RV as it is, but being fruitarian has earned a lot more respect for me from this video and I'm sure it's something I will give more thought as 811 gets easier for me.

  • Agree 100% with what you mentioned in the video. However, can the entire human population be fed on a pure fruitarian diet ? Also, there have been some people who have been able to survive only on sunlight without eating any food. Just google - "Hira Ratan Manek". Would you be willing to give up on eating fruits in that case ? Happy 2012 !

  • @madhurpatel

    Thank you for your comment.

Fruit production is one of the most efficient way of producing food. For example one acre of Banana plants can produce up to 24,000lbs of food per year; one acre of land used for beef production provides only 150lbs of food per year.

So in terms of feeding people, eating fruit will produce more food per acre than almost anything else.

If I could live on sunlight, I would be happy to do so; I do sun-gaze.

    Wishing you a Beautiful 2012 XX♥♥

  • @fruitbatanne Thanks for your response. I'm a vegan, FYI. I am wondering if there are any stats that more quantity of fruits can be produced on a given amount of land than say other veggie foods like grains, vegetables, etc. If not, I am happy to be a vegan especially when there are a billion people going hungry to bed everyday.

  • @madhurpatel

Thank you for your comment ♥

Tree crops tend to more efficient than veggie crops because they do not need to be planted each year, and as the tree gets older (up to a point) the yield increases yearly. Also, the soil underneath the trees is left undisturbed, and this provides a wonderful environment for all the microbes, small creatures and fungi.

Annual crops can cause more destruction to small creatures and the environment.

    Love and Peaches,

    from Anne XX♥♥

  • @madhurpatel

I think the crop causing the lease destruction to the planet would be an organic tree crop. But the eating of veggies and grains is, I feel, far less destructive and causes less death and suffering than eating animal flesh.

Great to hear you are a vegan ♥

    Love and Peaches,

    from Anne XX♥

  • @fruitbatanne - Dear Anne, I do agree with what you said. If veganism is about minimizing harm to Earth and other Earthlings, everyone must eventually aspire to become a fruitarian. I do not know if I will ever become 100% fruitarian, but will definitely include more fruits in my diet.

Cheerful new year and loads of <3

  • @madhurpatel Can the entire population eat a pure fruit diet? It doesn't matter. Most people don't want a pure fruit diet so worrying if there is enough for them has nothing to do with supplying yourself with optimum nutrition. if you have the opportunity to have an all fruit diet accept it as a gift that someone wants you to have. Survive on sunlight without eating food? Let's concentrate on incorporating the energy of the fruit for a while before jumping off into the esoteric.

  • oh my god, Anne, you look SEXY girl!

  • There are so few people who have lived a pure fruitarian diet, as you have for 20+ yrs, that any thoughts or experiences you can share are very important. The Ethics of the fruitarian diet is one of its most appealing aspects and is the main reason I am personally attracted to it. I hope you continue to make videos and share your ideas, insights, and knowlegde about this way of eating with us. You are an incredible inspiration--a light shining in the darkness. ♥♥♥

  • Love ya, but one can eat plants without killing them. Trimming plants can actually keep them healthy and vital. I grow greens in my home and can enjoy basil leaves, as one example, without killing the plant.

  • @purewonka

Thank you for your comment ♥ I agree we can eat plants without killing them, and we can treat the plants we grow with love and kindness. But my personal belief is that there is no advantage to the plant in having its leaves eaten or removed. That is why plants put toxins in their leaves so that not too many of them are eaten. Tapirs who eat large amounts of leaves also eat clay to help remove the toxins they have ingested from the leaves.

Fruit, however, is designed to be eaten!

  • @fruitbatanne If I could figure out a way to not eat greens and maintain my health I would do it. My dietary experiments in 100% fruit eating have not gone well. I don't eat nearly the quantity of greens suggested in the 811 diet, but I do eat them. Thanks for the answer. I appreciate your point of view.

  • @purewonka

Thank you for your reply ♥

I do not think greens are a 'bad' food, and I hope not to judge other people's dietary choices. I think many people need greens due to their individual needs and the poor quality of a lot of commercially-grown fruit.

But along my own journey, I have become more aware that every diet causes suffering and death to some extent, and no diet is 'perfect'; I guess, we all need to do the best we can given our cicumstances.

    Love and Peaches XX♥

  • @purewonka

I am not saying that people should not eat plants, I believe everyone needs to make their own dietary choices based on their own needs and ethics.

But because some people eat plants that does not mean plants cannot feel pain; in the same way that carnivores eat animals, and the animals feel pain.

Wishing you a Beautiful Day ♥

    Love and Peaches,

  • @fruitbatanne Whatever plants feel, I think it's pretty likely that they feel like super mega rockstars when they are being incorporated into someone who is pursuing self cultivation and spiritual growth.

  • @butternmayo

Thank you for your comment ♥

Personally, I feel that plants prefer not to be eaten whatever the status or level of enlightenment of the eater.

Because they do not want to be eaten, they incorporate various toxins in their leaves.

I do not think it is 'wrong' to eat plants, I just believe they, like everyother living entity, prefer to live than be eaten.

    Love and Peaches XX.

  • @butternmayo and since people with health issues looking for therapeutic answers may be reading this, I wish we could agree to stick to some scientific facts, like plants don't have nervous systems or sensory organs. I hear enough carnivores scornfully justifying their diets with lines like "I don't want to kill plants" like vegans totally wishy washy - as far as ethics go, you are no better than anyone else, living in a bubble of self declared purity.

  • @butternmayo

Thank you for your comment ♥

It sounds like you are concerned that some meat eaters justify their meat diet by saying they do not wish to kill plants.

However, animal flesh involves even more killing of plants because the animal killed for their flesh was most likely a plant eater.

I am not saying plants are sentient beings in order to justify anything, I am saying it because I believe it to be true.

I do not believe any diet involves no death, including my own.

  • I agree Anne. im learning about plant consciousness from my indoor potted plants im using my personal crystals putting them in the soil of the plants and holding the intention to downloading the frequencies to understand and connect with plant consciousness. and it really am learning so much from them and this does work. so i suggest it for anyone who wants to learn about plant consciousness. sending infinite LOVE your way <33333

Thank you for your comment ♥

Thank you for sharing that information ♥ I think when we realise that plants have a consciousness, we 'see' them in a whole new light. 'The Secret Life of Plants' really changed the way I looked at plants.

  • Thank you for making this Anne. I'm going to have to give this subject some serious thought. Just the other day a family member asked me if I would come to their house with an axe and cut down a big tree in their yard that they wanted removed. I didn't do it of course because just the thought of doing it made me uncomfortable.

  • @ICollectYogaPoses

Thank you for your post ♥

I think our responses and treatment of plants and trees reflects how we see them.

When we view them as having a life force, they are no longer just objects or a collection of cells.

Also, we may realise more how vitally important plants are to every animal on our Planet.

Wishing you a Lovely Day ♥ Love and Peaches XX♥
