I think if he'd have had a bigger budget on Red State we would have seen character development. But as it is, it felt like watching a drive by, shit just kept happening and people kept being killed off.

Red State is not that bad. I think it needed more character development. What we only see in the movie is them talking and not shutting their mouth, then some action and that's it. Kevin still have good ideas, he just need to have the same passion he have with his characters on the earlier movies instead of plain dialogue.
