The standard currency of the world is CRUDE OIL ........WAKE UP !!!! 6 to 8 dollar a gallon gas is coming. $200.00 a barrel for crude oil. Start drillin' at home baby !!!
Drill Baby Drill! We should be building huge pipelines across the Bering Straits to sell our Alaskan oil to Russia as they are going to need it to fuel all the cars they're going to be buying from us in the future. That way we maintain some leverage over them if/when they start acting up. It's called 'real politics'.
Two unsubstantiated allegations are made in the first minute; that the 'big game hunter' was drunk, and that the damage to the pipe was 'sabotage'. Par for the course for environmental wackos.
A human can withstand 100 °C ( 211,97 °F) of dry heat without dying, but if the heat is in liquid form (water, oil, etc), gas (steam, etc) or solid form (stone, asfalt(tarmac), gravel, etc. It will cuase seriously bodily harm or death.
you do realize your average body temp is like 98-99 F and that ambient temperature can easily be 100 F or more... water boils at like 212 F I think... and you don't see people boiling to death... you've gotta be thinking in degrees C
Man that is SO stupid, what on earth was this guy thinking? I know he was drunk but DAMN, what an utter tard. I hope he was jailed for this, for a decent amount of time. A lot of oil just spewing into the wild life. 1 YEAR to clean up! That's just bad!!
Anytime there's a leak or a loss of pressure, Alyeska can localize the problem and shut down oil flow. There was a much bigger problem in 1986. The Steele Creek incident. Someone planted C4 on the line, and blew up a small section. Same amount spilled, because they knew about it as soon as it happened. Pretty much the same drill as what happened in 2001. How about instead of sounding like a bunch of uneducated ignoramuses, you keep your mouths shut and let people like me and my dad do our job.
The only reason he was able to cause a hole in the line was because he hit it right on a weld. Oh, to the person who wanted to go up and down the line and put explosives all over it, good luck. There's 4 flyovers per day to do a quick glance at the line. To the person who wondered why it wasn't built all underground, you can't put all the line underground. There's too many earthquakes in Alaska for that to happen.
My dad was on this repair job. You have no idea how the pipeline actually works. I've worked on the mainline pipe. There's dents from hundreds of people shooting the line. It's 1 1/4" thick mainline pipe surrounded by insulation and jacketing. Within minutes Alyeska realized there was a leak and shut down the pipeline. No wildlife was killed, and the hole was repaired as soon as was humanly possible.
Yes I do. Not only cars and heating use it, but plastics are made from oil, and just think of how many plastics we use. Perhaps I should have stated drastically reduce our reliance on oil. Although, we will run out eventually, which will stop our reliance on oil immediately.
will we? they keep finding more, it seems to be developing in the ground. however i agree we need to find alternative sources for our plastics. i know they have made some success in that area. i think however that too many focus on the negitive of oil and say we should stop using it instead of finding more efficient &enviromently friendly ways of using it sorry it took so long to respond
It is not developing in the ground quickly. It takes hundreds of years to make oil. Coal and diamonds are made by a similar process, so just think how long it takes to make them. Scientists estimate we will use all the oil left in the world in the next twenty years, though honestly I'm not sure if this estimation is based on level usage or an increase in usage. Either way, they figure since we started using oil, we have used half of what the world contains.
there are huge oil resivours that we cant yet tap, and many we haven't found yet but i think at the rate improving efficiency were going to slow comsumption some. plus many of those estimates are badly biased.
I think that if we could've fixed the problem a long time ago, we would have. If not, it's probably because of the amount of money humans make from finding oil.
If they tapped all the oil thats there, the US would have enough to sustain itself on oil for years, 13% of the worlds natural gas and oil supply is there.
The pipeline's monitoring provides more protection for the area than if it wasn't there. The oil companies make more than enough money to pay for the cleanups when breaks happen, and the animals like the extra heat so much the porcupine caribou has quadrupled since it went in.

@TheLizardKing1967 Correction. The standard currency is gold. Rothschild gold. Crude oil is just a ploy.

First of all, i'm not speaking on YT i'm writing.
And second of all, does my comment seem to been written by a child?
And third of all, English is not my native language, so one spelling error is normal, dont you agree you prick?
You fail sir, good day!

100 degrees fahrenheit = 37.7 degrees centigrade(celsius or °C).
0 °C (32 °F) = freezing point of water,
100 °C ( 211,97 °F) = boiling point of water.
