  • Most clearest info yet ....thanks

  • Good explanation. Thanks!

  • At 2.50 does he say "Blue Shit" ? Funny dude.

  • i thought you were supposed to use a gray card for white balance.. im confused. should i use white paper or a gray card?

  • Either way should work, but for the camera white- will give you the ability to get the balance in lower light , so white has more of advantage in lower light.

  • @canigetout You can use white paper, a middle-gray card, or something that is black. White is just easy because it's usually on site, like a white wall.

  • @canigetout Actually, I might be wrong about the black, that might be black balance. It's been a while...

  • He keeps saying his white balance is already set to custom when it is set to AWB or auto. If it had been set to custom the icon for custom white balance would have been next to the white balance in the menu istead of AWB. I bought some photovision calibration targets and they work great!

  • Haha this is old school

  • the image is fine,it looks yellow becouse the white balance was auto in that moment, once u set that pic as custom white balance and reshot the same subject u will see that it looks white.

i ve tryed and it works.

  • I think I would need to be high on some very good drugs for this video to be interesting.

  • I agree with you maple, although the crayons would be appetising on drugs... hmmmm.... coloured crayons

  • I wonder if camera calibration was done in THIS tutorial! the image is awful

  • hahaha.. you're totally right.

these guys left it on automatic white balance...

    booo

  • Thanks! I watched 2 videos that BOTH said do it like this and I figured either it didnt work or I was just messing it up some how... I read this comment, changed it to "custom white balance" and BAM! Perfect images. These guys should pay you for making their tutorial actually work.

  • @sn1zzo

I just verified what you said in your comment and it works great. thanks for sharing!

  • omg that's an awful tutorial...

  • big ass crayons

  • I think a more useful demonstration would have been to shoot the white card under a strongly shifted light, show that it's color cast, actually do the custom white balance operation, then take another shot of the white card and show that it comes out white..

Correction to the above comment; If using a Speedlite you have to WB with it, or the images will be strong blue. If you're going to use bounce flash, WB with that b/c whatever you bounce off of will add its own color cast as well.

  • Good idea, We may try to do that in the next few months. Thanks

  • Well i have a gray one-side and white otherside card ... but when i took the White blance .. did the flash must be off ? 580 EXII also ??

  • Its best to shoot without the flash.

Just a simple white flash-card works for this, when on the feild shooting, put the paper infront of the camera before you take your shot and shoot the whitebalance custom image. After that youll have perfect lighting coloration!

  • Good work, just trying refine my knowledge. Thank you guys...

  • K, finally received the DVDs.

  • thanks!!

  • can you use a gray card, and what is the differance?

  • Though gray might work, white may reflect the color temp into the camera more accurately. Cameras all differ so try it on your camera both ways to see.

  • great thanks

  • Thanks, that was very simple!!

  • Thanks for the great lesson!

  • Message to Bob Nagy: Thank you so much for your 40D training videos... They are VERY MUCH appreciated!!

  • Hey can you please publish some more videos

    of canon 40d training
