I agree. It isn't a necessity to use triggers at all. What defines a good drummer is a drummer who has speed, technique, style, and ryhthm and that doesn't come from using midi triggers. It comes from serious practice and years of experiance.

Cryptopsy "Graves of the Father" has a huge breakdown in the middle of the song and Behemoth's "As Above to Below" has a breakdown in the intro and throughout the cd of "Demigod". You obviously don't know what a breakdown is.

Haha. Since I own all Suffocation cd's I can tell you there are breakdowns everywhere. I explained what a breakdown actually is in a previous reply to you. For a more 'modern' breakdown, i.e. one you would hear in hardcore, you should listen to the new Suffo 2006 album, song 4 - Bind Torture Kill. 3min10. There are many more in bands I listed earlier, namely Dying Fetus, who have a fuckload. Of course there are 'solos' in punk rock. But lets not even go there.

you guys who think triggers are a necessity are seriously ignorant to the word practice. take a look at thomas lang, seriously, no triggers and he could EASILY play that kind of double bass while playing in multiple other time signatures, simultaneously. Practice makes perfect, so dont go as far to say that triggers are a MUST for death metal. It's nobodys fault but their own that they can't pull it off. If its for tone, thats a different subject. but you guys are talking about dynamics.

I agree. It isn't a necessity to use triggers at all. What defines a good drummer is a drummer who has speed, technique, style, and ryhthm and that doesn't come from using midi triggers. It comes from serious practice and years of experiance.

No shit alot of drummers use them and when your playin at his speed its a no brainer that hed be using triggers. Also this band uses breakdowns very rarely and not overbearing either. I would say their Technical Death Metal if I had too but then i realize that it really doesnt matter what it is. It doesnt change the fact of how talented and fuckin brutal this band is. death metal with breakdowns should not be called "deathcore". the only reason this was formed is because of the newer kids (scene kids mostly) who are barely getting into death metal and they have to label any metal band with breakdowns 'deathcore'. Suffocation, Devourment, Cryptopsy, Behemoth, Decapitated, Dying Fetus, Guttural Secrete, Gutrot, Decrepit Birth just to name a few all have breadowns and they are all death metal bands. But nobody labels them 'deathcore'. It's getting ridiculous.

Haha. Since I own all Suffocation cd's I can tell you there are breakdowns everywhere. I explained what a breakdown actually is in a previous reply to you. For a more 'modern' breakdown, i.e. one you would hear in hardcore, you should listen to the new Suffo 2006 album, song 4 - Bind Torture Kill. 3min10. There are many more in bands I listed earlier, namely Dying Fetus, who have a fuckload. Of course there are 'solos' in punk rock. But lets not even go there.
