Don't bother with the helium. Just blow up the balloon and hang it on a string in the doorway. Hours and hours of fun! We stop our Jack Russell after an hour as she gets hoarse! She will kill the balloon if the string is too long, then she whines for a new one. We have a command that says it is dead, so she will leave it alone, hopefully.

I am also a JRT owner and this dog is clearly having a blast and there is nothing cruel about giving your dog a toy he has fun playing with whether it's a balloon, a ball, or even a rubber pig. JRT's live to entertain themselves and others.

JRTs love to chase and burts balloons. Believe me this dog is not in danger or distress. They need puzzles to figure out and this dog did just that. It caught the balloon and ran off triumphant to kill it.

Jack's are a resilient breed and it would take a lot more than that to phase one. Mine would love it...but I don't have any string;-)
