Sharp wasn't officially out of weezer untill 1998, this was well after the first rentals album, but before the second rentals album. Weezer was formed in early 90s, look it up if you care.

interpolluter29 _ to be corrected The Rentals we not the side project Weezer was the side progect and never expected to be taken seriously. The rentals formed in February 1992 and put on hold after Pat and Matt met up with Rivers and Brian in September 1992. They are both great bands and I have seen them both live and met them all.

No, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that if people knew The Rentals were a sideproject of Weezer, they are going to think that it is just a side project. I don't know the status of Matt Sharp in Weezer right now, but all I know is The Rentals should be respected on the same level. That's why I said that they SHOULDN'T be just a side project. Not treated as so, anyway.

I'll just say the same thing everybody else said...This is a great album. It sounds more honest and gritty than their other album. Too bad it was so overlooked.

Perhaps they weren't aware that the band was led by a member of Weezer? They fared a good career. The Rentals shouldn't have been "just a side project" though.
