  • What kind of cream is that?

  • @todd8333 i think its crème fraiche but thats not what youre supposed to put on it anyways. Its supposed to be some kind of syrup: maple, brown sugar or fruit (i.e. blueberry)

  • thank you nicko! I made this for my family& they LOVED it!

  • fail...the mixture HAS TO have MILK.

  • why do they call it french toast ? ... french ppl dont eat this !

  • @TheJackks French calls it Pain Perdu (lost bread).

But yeah it's not that common.

  • @TheJackks yeah they'd rather eat snails and frog legs and their second cousins

  • @TheJackks Because its ungrateful and smelly

  • @TheJackks course they do!! tis just another version of "pain perdu"...

  • @TheJackks yes they do ..

  • @TheJackks Why do we call Rubik's Cube Rubik's Cube? He doesn't play with it anymore.

  • @TheJackks the term of french toast was created when a chef in loussiana i believe dipped stale bread in egg and milk. he cooked it and served it and he called it french toast to make it sound fancy to the people he served it to.

  • @origamix72 THANK YOU finally an honnest awnser !

  • @TheJackks your welcome

  • @TheJackks I'm french and french people do eat this, as a dessert, and it is called "pain perdu" , which could be translated as "lost bread" because this dessert was made with stale bread, which would have been lost if not used in such a way. Also at the time milk didn't conserve as long as nowadays, and egg rot pretty fast, so this dessert was a good way of avoiding having any waste.

  • @TheJackks im french and I eat this. In france they call it 'pain perdu' and in quebec we call it 'pain doré'

  • @TheJackks they don't eat french fries either...

  • @pfctrujillo :D yer yur right !

  • @TheJackks im french and i eat this

  • @TheJackks Cause its fancy toast :3

  • @TheJackks I have been wondering the same thing every since I got educated on this. Really boggles my mind to no end.

  • @TheJackks they actually do... it is called Pain perdu which means "lost bread". It is a way of them getting rid of old bread

  • Ur vids are way better thn sccastaneda's

  • SUBSCRIBED

  • Dude you're so awesome! I subscribed.

  • Yeah Yeah, enough about the berries.

They super-rare in that part of the world or something?

  • Why do just about everybody NOT put powdered sugar!!?? Oh and I have plates like those! ..just not with those ugly creases on them apparently made for "design".

  • you should cut it up and eat it with maple syrup.

  • @myblahblah09 whoever told you that needs to get his facts straight...the hole in the bread is for cooking "eggs in a basket" which are seasoned with salt and pepper, they dont have any sweetness at all and yes, they're good but all it takes is butter, bread, salt, pepper and eggs, no vanilla, no cinnamon, no nothing.

  • when i was in mexico they had something on the hotel they called toastadas and it was awesome....anyone know if it is something like french toeast? it looks the same..

  • @Shotcalm no dude, tostadas are deep fried tortillas, they're not even bread, i swear upon my very own grave that you got played since they look nothing like french toast... and FTW i'm mexican so... i know what im talking about haha.

  • tostadas are toasted bread. im from paraguay and thats my everyday breakfast so.. i know what im talking about

  • @rudvan17 1) he asked about tostadas in MEXICO not somewhere else and 2) your tostadas come from the word and food known as "toast" which yes it IS toasted bread... here in mexico tostadas are deep fried or even ovened tortillas... so again he was talking about MEXICAN tostadas and 2) real tostadas are not derived from toast...

french toast is a bout a billion more things wuts the difference

  • by the way, a great twist to this is making a peanut butter sandwich and "french toasting" that instead of just a single slice. way more filling and tasty

  • Umm how that kid said he started when he was 7 but in my case I started when I was 5 and I am 14 at the momment, and ive been taught a bit differently by different people but in my oppinion I believe that this looks great eventhough I would use a different way to decorate it and would make it a bit more fancy but I really love this and I am willing to try out some of your recipes. When you look at my videos all you see is games lol but behind the games in real life I also enjoy to cook.

I realize now that I forgot the vanilla extcract but, to make mine taste better(cuz i didnt have berries or cream) I mixed syrup, cinnamon, and sugar and put it on top. This video was a great help bcuz Ive never made this on my own bcuz Im only 13

  • ...:::=AUSSIE PRIDE=:::....

ive been told that french toast they cut out a circle in the bread then cook an egg in their but screw that im 13 and ive been making this style for years my mum taught me how to cook when i was 7 i just love cooking

  • awesome stuff :) great to start out young, thanks for watching

  • its realy fantastic i like your cooking

  • @myblahblah09 i was told an egg in the middle was a bulls eye

  • @myblahblah09 Cutting a hole in the middle of the bread, then putting an egg in the center isn't French Toast, it's called "Egg in a basket"

  • @myblahblah09 You mean a "toad in a hole"?

  • @myblahblah09 what ur talking about is brittish (well presumably) and is called "Egg in a basket". Also in egg in a basket the toast is not soaked in any kind of egg mixture, just fried in butter.

  • I make French Toast but Rob does a lot better with the raisin bread, the cream, berries and the vanilla extract. I just use eggs, cinnamon and milk. That's an excellent video and I give it 5 stars

  • what an awsome dish

  • Looks good. I love how you always mention breakfast in bed. :)

  • The finished toast looks collapsed. Tasty, but collapsed.

For firmer results, leave the bread out on the counter overnight, especially for thin-cut bread. This way, you don't have to wait for the loaf to stale on its own in the bag, either.

  • exactly what i said at the start of the video :)

  • Maybe I heard you wrong but I could have sworn you said that you prefer to wait "till your at the end of the loaf"

His tip was not to wait days just leave the slices you intend to use exposed for a few hours, I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it, he just has a passion for great food.

  • Yup, that's what i meant. The dish was created long ago, when stale bread was not to be wasted. Yup, If I didn't care, I wouldn't post. :)

I do love the topping idea. I bought some berries this week, and a brand new loaf of Texas toasting bread to try my hand at a topping besides my boring maple syrup.

I actually like a saltier butter, and just a little sweetness. The raisin bread is perfect! I don't think I've eaten raisin bread French toast for 25 years!

  • when I have nothing but thin sliced bread on hand I like to double it up, so it's more like the Texas toast that i prefer for my French Toast. And I also like to use a bit of orange juice to give it that extra kick, most people won't even notice, they'll just wonder what your secret is.

  • The orange juice sounds good!

One thing I also noticed, is that if one pours the egg mixture into an absolutely flat bottomed dish or plate, the soaking can be accomplished more fully, consistently, and relaxed. The fresher the bread, the better this works, when you don't have the time to pre-stale the bread.

    Cheers!

  • I just made some , I'm eating some now (:

  • YUMMY!!!! LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!
