  • QE2 est le plus magnifique des paquebots et j'espère qu'il ne finira pas comme notre transatlantique FRANCE.

  • I like this song. If I Queen Elizabeth 2 gets scrapped, I don't think I'll be happy & smile again.

  • I didn'i realize that I hurt somebody's feelings, my little story had nothing to do with bigotry, I'm very proud that my Dad worked on the ship and was just sharing, as I said I was not around back then, so dont get so upset over nothing

  • I believe that the QE2 was built in John Browns Shipyard in Clydebank, Scotland, My Dad served his apprenticeship as a welder on her I wasn't around then so if anyone else knows a more accurate story I would like to hear it, I did not know she was sold to Dubai I'm sure they must have needed her! thank you for a most beautiful film s of her slipping so grac efully into the wonderful Auld River Clyde

  • @weeGeorgiegirl If it'd been the other way round (someone saying it was English not British) you Scots would have squeal 'BIGOT!'. Amazing how the Scottish can shift the goalposts. By the way, The QE2 was commisioned by Cunard who are based in Southampton (an English city).

  • @whitbyjet65 Listen to who is talking, the other month the English riots were called UK riots yet it was only the idiots in England that were actually doing any rioting, that was a big goal post there was it not. The QE2 was designed and built in Scotland, you don't like that thought and it annoys you i see.

  • @suprac19 Oh so two wrongs make a right do they? That makes it alright for you to spout your bigotry. Who do you think financed the QE2? You ought to do your homework before bragging about things being Scottish (when they actually aren't).

  • @whitbyjet65 Cunard placed the order but as i said before it was designed and built in Scotland and belonged to John Browns Shipyard (SCOTLAND) until after the sea trials were carried out then the ship was officially handed over to Cunard. It may have been run and owned by Cunard but it was Born in SCOTLAND and you can't change that.

  • @suprac19 That's where you're wrong! John Brown shipyards didn't design it. It was designed by Cunard's design team lead by Technical Director Tom Kameen. Kameen had started his apprenticeship at Cammell Laird’s yard in Birkenhead England. The prototype model was built & designed at Feltham in Kent. By the way, the ship was also named after an English monarch. Yes, she's English not Scottish

  • @whitbyjet65 Thanks for that wikipedia information, You can say what you like but it was built in Scotland and you still can't change that, if i had to stand on the deck of the QE2 or the Queen Mary i would still feel like it was from Scotland which it was, Owners change so does that mean the queen mary is American, i bet no American would think that. The fact that this ship was born in Scotland really annoys you doesn't it.

  • @suprac19 No it doesn't annoy me at all. I just laugh at your lack of confidence. You've been presented with the facts & you simply choose to ignore them & ludicrously claim the QE2 is Scottish. Mate....you just stay huddled up in your little delusional bubble. You're safe in there.

  • @suprac19 Why don't you pick something that's genuinely Scottish to be proud of. Like shortbread or The Krankies.

  • @whitbyjet65 are you trying to start a "riot" on here, you must be English right enough though, it is in you to be complete arseholes and disliked the world over for your big headed arrogance and general annoyance to other nations. Is the Queen Mary American? is it an American ship? NO.

  • @suprac19 Oh the orony of it! A Scotsman calling someone else big headed. Every time a jock open his mouth you'd think he saved the world & invented every item known to man. Please show me the evidence that the English are disliked the world over. yet again another bigoted Scottish (false) claim. Forgive me if I'm wrong but was there a colossal level of anti-Scottish feeling from the Americans when your people released the Lockerbie bomber?

  • @suprac19 You ought to look at yourself before you pass comments on other people. And by the way, I'm not English but I live in England & I guarantee it's a much nicer place to be than Scotland.

  • @whitbyjet65 I'm so sorry, i fell asleep while reading through your boring comments, i do apologise.

So you can say you are Definitely not English as you were not born in England. :-)

QE2 was Born in Scotland, owners change, so the QE2 is a united arab emirates ship and the Queen Mary is American but they were both Born in Scotland on the river Clyde.

  • @suprac19 You clearly don't have the mental capacity to understand the realities of life. I'm glad you're happy in your little Scottish fantasy world.

  • @whitbyjet65 Inventing Television, the telephone, penicillan the list goes on. Lets just leave her nationality as British, built in Scotland, homeport whilst in service in England and now owned by the Arabs, okay!

  • @andyman2461 The tv wasn't a Scottish invention. That's a myth promoted by the Scots. Baird actually developed technology that was already invented. Paul Gottieb Nipkow patented the first electromechanical tv system. Baird developed his invention. It's the Scottish marketing board that create & spread the myth about tv being Scottish. It isn't!

  • @andyman2461 & since when was penicillin invented??? It wasn't invented, it was discovered. Yes Flemming discovered it but it was an Australian, German & Englishman that actually developed its use in medicine. Bell didn't invent the phone, he was just the first to patent it. I'm Italian & I can assure you Manzetti invented it. Google him. In Italy we are taught the truth unlike the Scottish myths.

  • @suprac19 And if the QE2 was a proud Scottish craft, how come it's home port was Southampton? It just doesn't add up, does it?

  • @suprac19 The only reason it was bult in Scotland was because they did it cheaper. That's why they got the contract to build it. It wasn't designed in Scotland. Scotland just happened to have cheap labour. Toyota cars are built in England but that doesn't make Toyota English.

  • @whitbyjet65 the reason it was built in Scotland was because they made such as good job of the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth. We aren't talking about mass produced cars here,we are talking about a ship that will be remembered forever.

The Titanic was owned by J.P Morgan, an AMEICAN, but the people of Belfast have a strong affection for it and feel proud, you can go and see where it was designed and built, if you had to ask them they would say the ship was theirs, same story here.

  • @suprac19 It was tendered out & the Brown shipyard was the cheapest. You clearly have no idea about industry. And I wouldn't be proud of the Titanic. It sank!!!!!

  • A Scottish icon is a better title since it was designed and built in Scotland on the river Clyde the same as the Original Queen Mary, the Queen Elizabeth, The Lusitania and the Aquitania. The only thing British about it is the name. Born in Scotland.

  • Owned by the British, like saying the QM2 is French but it isn't it's British/American

  • @suprac19 I agree with you, well said and the QE2 should have never been sold to the Middle East.

  • @suprac19 The QE2 is British as in 'Of Great Britain'. Scotland is part of Great Britain. I think you're confusing British with English.

The QE2 I believe was actually designed in England and built in Scotland.

  • @suprac19 It was actually comissioned by Cunard (a company based in Southampton, England).

  • Cunard's Queen Elizabeth of 1940 was one of the best looking liners-ever. She had a perfect 2-funnel profile that never has been matched.

  • the truth is that queen elizabeth 1 was pretier than 2.

  • does anyone know where the piano musicat thestart of the bbc qe2 timewatch episode comes from? thanks

  • Amazing Video 5 STARS! The pictures, and actual footage is awesome!
