  • I sooooooooooo love you guys and your music.....hope to see you in concert on day...it would be an honour! Hugs to you guys..............................

  • My late brother love this band to the point of making a tribute band, not knowing how to play an instrument... he will be missed and Seether rocks on...I got to see them live in a small bar with my brother a few weeks before he died... thank you Seether for helping keep his memory fresh in my mind every song you sing!

  • and i love this song too and it helped me in my life thank you seether

  • does nayone knoe how 2 play this song on a eletric guitar.please awnser me on my channel comments.

  • Seether are like superhero musicians with the special ability of making you listen to their songs over and over and making every lyric sound as good as the last.

  • beautiful song

  • i love this guys my favs...

  • Its hard for me to even explain how much Seether means to me. I honestly would not be alive if it weren't for this band, and for other bands that got me through. Shaun's music comes from expierences and the heart. 52 song's and counting. (:

  • I really hate how they shortened the end of the song. Regardless it's an amazing song from an amazing band.

  • hmmm, best guess....something happened where he lived and the little girl didnt. The "gift" is his life, and the town is ashamed of him.

  • @Spinachanyone The story is that he had a car crash that killed the little girl. The gift is her forgiving him for what he did.

I saw an interview with Shaun about it :P

  • @NekoChibaKitty ohh man. I got a whole new respect for this song now, thank you.

  • @Spinachanyone Forgot to mention. it is only a story, not based on real life.

  • at 1:24-did ya'll see that guy wipe his hand after shaking Shawn's hand-what was that about? jeez...

  • your songs are my Gifts

  • at 0:10 he looks like jack sparrow.....

  • @DaSuperBobo XD!!! That's werid o.0...

This song reminds me of Buso Renkin. My bro got the books right as the CD came out. It fits the series quite a bit too. I think like the acoustic version better though. Can't wait for the new CD! (a lot of CD's are coming out: Seether, Disturbed, Cold, and I've even heard about a new Staind CD :O )

  • I think the meaning is kinda don't give up even when u want to... I heard it at a funeral... it is an amazing song

  • love this song...

  • when he starts singing he kinda looks like jack sparrow loll

  • No one is better than them....

  • ahhh no it mexico this is song is now tainted with bad meories ... good song still

  • This song is so powerful. I love listening to this when I'm sad. Really helps the emotions come out haha.

  • happy cinco de mayo! lol! cinco de mayo is in this video! best part seether!

  • @pinkpanthertiki

Actually is "Dia de muertos" (november 2), not "5 de mayo" (may 5)... and I'm pretty sure that the video was filmed in Oaxaca, Mexico... Regards from Mexico!!!

  • SI EL VIDEO FUE FILMADO EN MEXICO

  • how can download videos here??

    i cant see the url...

  • awsome video

  • Call me ignorant but I am not sure what they mean by this song?

  • it means laughting my ass off

  • yeah dude...guitar heros just a game I seriously doubt you'll feel very accomplished if you beat the hardest level on it as appose to actualy learning to play the song or i dont even know..

  • I love this video :) seether is so amazing!

  • no you need to pick up a guitar and lern it you self it sounds amazing

  • i know make guitar hero make there own songs and stop makeing money off the singers and bands that have skill

  • that would ruin the song, you can't put a good song on a ripoff guitar game.

  • Awsome song....Awsome Band... Awsome vid....

more awsome is that this video is made in Mexico.... Día de muertos!!!

  • Funny that you're proud of it. This video is wretched. Regardless of the piss poor video, I like the song.

  • Im not proud of it......I mean México is pretty much screwed.. but its strangely nice to see part of your country in an foreing video.

  • and what exactly is wrong with the video?

  • this song is like a HIT ;] of seether

  • I can't face myself when I wake up

    And look inside a mirror

I'm so ashamed of that thing

I suppose I'll let it go

Untill I have something more to say for me

    I'm so afraid of defeat

And I'm out of reason to believe in me

I'm out of trying to defy

Some of the best lyrics ever written by anyone. This is one of my favorite Seether songs

  • defiantly a poet

  • I agree, but it's "Ashamed of defeat", not "Afraid" :)

  • great song!!!

"Hold me now I need to feel complete

Like I matter to the one I need"

Guess I just want to know that I matter to you!

  • absolutely amazing song ^_^

  • Wow,the girl at 1:12 is beyond beautiful.

  • -> jogga123:

I would venture to say that this entire song is beyond beautiful. Seether is a band to which I certainly enjoy rocking out, but this song touches my heart. This video is also excellently constructed, and it seems like it deals with important human themes without becoming pretentious.

  • Agreed,I love Seether. But I'm also a sucker for good looking indian girls.

  • nooooo

  • I'm so ashamed of defeat.

  • for a band that gets a lot of radio play Seether is a pretty damn good. cause most of what gets mainstream attention is dull and boring.

  • So good, everything abouth Seether sinks in - even at 47 for me. Forgive me for thinking he sounds like an Aussie in interviews sometimes, but could somebody confirm where his accent sort of comes from please ?. Dont matter so much, but Seether rocks. Ive never seen them live but cannot w8. I'lle be the one in the crowed with the Alice Cooper mask on, lol. Great stuff Seether - Drummer is sooo good to hey. Solid as !!

  • Well Shaun is from Africa.

  • Seether is a post-grunge band from Johannesburg, South Africa, formed in 1999.

  • shaun an dale are frm south africa they came 2 the states when they got signed...i guees there accent comes frm being educated and confidant because u can tell there the kind of guys that really pushed 2 get to where they are 2day, so they've probably been around many nationalitys an accents and theres has just stemmed frm that maybe...ill tell u one thing thats FACT there F%$KING AWESOME!!!!!

  • great song, i love this song

  • Shaun has a very unique voice, it makes seether what they are, keep it rocking brother!

  • Shaun has a great voice.

  • Seether is awsome. I can't wait till they come out with another album.

  • this song is powerful,moving!

    there's beauty in the dark...

  • good song

  • Deep

  • The story is about a man who kills a young girl in a car crash in Southern Mexico.

Each year, on The Day of the Dead, he visits her cross on the side of the road where she died.

Meanwhile the ghost of little girl goes into town with a cuandera to visit her family, father and sister, who the man was going out with.

    They pass on the road.

The man spend the night by the road.

The little girl's ghost leaves candy on the mans bed.

The "Gift" is the life he took, and the forgiveness she gives.

  • thanks dude. i totally didnt get it

  • The man is a gringo drug dealer.

A statue of Jesus Malverde, Patron Saint of Drug Dealers, can be seen below the mirror in the bedroom the man is staying in.

  • During the Day of the Dead, it is easier for the souls of the departed to visit the living. People go to cemeteries to communicate with the souls of the departed, and build private altars, containing the favorite foods and beverages, as well as photos and memorabilia, of the departed. The intent is to encourage visits by the souls, so that the souls will hear the prayers and the comments of the living directed to them. Wiki

  • Generic music is generic

  • hence generic

  • is it just me or is his hair longer?

  • i think it is, maybe an inch or so..... lol

  • ya fuk life

  • Is this group therapy? Gosh people, go get on some meds or something....

  • i can't face myself when I wake up and look inside a mirror...

  • this song brought me out of the darkest corners so anyway to all haters!!!!

  • This is what my asshole of a father did to me.

But everything happens for a reason.

Listen up. Turn it uo. Tune out

    d[-.-]b

    I'm a Seether Freak

  • That's why your name carries heavy HATE.

Put it down... you may see your world more beautiful.

  • lol see immature as hell grow up bud you sound ridiculous and you make yourself out to be a blundering idiot with no brains or all that shit happened to you and you wish to try it on someone else to make yourself feel better lol seeya

  • This is the best emotional song and video...I can't believe how can I never know about this great song before. Yes, this song makes me cry but it is such like a secret bond between us.

  • I have always loved this song, but I have never seen the video. Call me a sap but it almost made me cry...

truly a great video to go with this amazing song.

  • If you have the need to do such things, then you're a simply minded kid.

  • you know i come on here to listen to music and watch some funny videos but when i read the comments i laugh cause it is some of the most immature things i have ever read it like reading the transcribed words of two kids on a play ground fighting about who's dad is tougher grow up people you really do sound like 10 year olds not all of you but alot of u

  • LOVE seether (L)

  • Shaun is so cute here :3

    I love his voice!

  • I love this song, one of the better emotional songs to me at least. I just love the feel of it, sad, yet, i find it relaxing.

  • great song!! (:

    they have some of

    the most powerful

    songs EVER!

  • ur a fuckin asshole RealityCries. if you like seether then you shouldn't be dissin the bands that influenced them. kurt cobain was one of the greatest song writers ever shitface

  • like what bodomhatecrew666 says. to me i think this song is about losing a child and its hard getting over it but you still look at the happy side which makes is a gift. ...more of a dreadful gift...

  • beautiful song.

    SEETHER ROCKS! =)

  • love seethers voice..and phwarrr:)

  • this is an asom video

  • i thought that mexicans liked death tho...here they are all sad

  • This is my new favorite song...

  • really?and u fail as well

  • FUCK YOU KURT IS A GOD! RIP Kurt.

  • i know this is gunan be lame but i dont wanna start anything over a dead guy so you fail

  • cobain is Legend and i am sure that Seether draws respect from him but SEETHER IS AWESOME and KURT IS A LEGEND!!!

  • i think this vid is about him and a girl. the girl gave him the gift of her love and he is afraid of getting hurt and also hurting her

    great song

  • no i dont think thats it

  • seether songs don't have one true meaning they are meant for you to put your own expieriences and dreams into the lyrics so for you the song is about a girl giving him her love and somebody else may see somthing different no one is wrong.

  • thank you! Somebody that gets it right!

  • I agree 110%. The best songs and most powerful are ones people can draw different meanings from. That is what makes music great.

  • its too bad they took all the solo's out

  • this is def my fave seether song

  • U know, seether likes to be hardcore and all that, but this vid shows they have sympathy and all that i guess. Seether rules, good song, great vid

  • listen to this all the time 1 of their best

  • This is such an amazing song...

  • Theres been better musicians than kurt cobain,

  • Not very many.

  • and why does everyone try to say that everybody else sounds like Kurt Cobain? Kurt was awesome and I'm a Nirvana fan, but come on. Kurt just had the stereotypical (and totally awesome I might add) rock voice that many rockers have. It doesn't mean that all these other bands are trying to be like Kurt.

  • Actually, there was nothnig stereo-typical about Kurt's voice. It was actually unique. While the 80's were coming to a close the rock and metal scene were very full of falsetto leads. Kurt defied that sound as did a few others, but he very much NOT the norm. AFTERWARD, tons of leads began emulating Kurts voice, pitch and delivery.

I can't call people copycat's for their voice unless it's intentional. I personally don't think Shaun emulates Kurt, but rather admires him.

  • amen to that my friend

  • Shaun never tells exactly what the songs are about because he wants the fans to make their own meaning of them. He wants them to be something that can be meaningful to everyone.

  • This song is really deep. I think it's about a guy who is really liked by this girl. He doesn't want her affection, he doesn't want her gift, because he's afraid it'll end up hurting him.

  • shauns loosing his afrikaan acsent, u listen to his live concerts n stuff now compared to this and old concerts u can tell : [ still sounds wicked though, he shall always have a unique voice. Seether Rule!

  • Let me take you to school, before you give me an aneurysm. R.I.P. Cobain

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • this band is the best

  • Both Kurt and Shuan have distinctively different talents and its clear who influenced who. Its just Shuan's time now and soon enough someone new will come along and captivate us to the point where we will be having this debate between Shuan and some new talent..They both are special and deserve every bit of respect they have!

  • I think both are good, but I must admit, there is something different to Shaun. Also, I must be honest, I am a South African. What's that got to do with anything? Well if you didn't already know it, Seether is a South African band. Formerly known as Saron Gas, these guys have gone from strength to strength, and if they keep their sh*t together, are really gonna go places. He really has a unique voice that kicks the living crap out of bands like Nickelback or Staind, although I do enjoy Staind.

  • Hi guys, need some counceling here ? Now c'mon fella's, Nirvana or Seether, Kurt or Shaun, Shaun or Kurt, Nirvana or Seether, getting a bit like.......14yo stuff ? Both good, both gr8, both individual talents, & both very goood. Me personally ?, Seether. I can't get it loud enuf & i'm a young 47 (drummer, lol). Anyway, if Kurt or Shauny saw this, they'd be pissin themselves laughen, or shakin their heads. Stay cool lovely ppl, Led Zeppelin Rocks, lolol. See ya.

  • I hate getting itno arguemtnes, but I do have to say this:

I respect Shaun for so many of his qualites of making music and his lyrics. They are very meaningful and easy to relate to.

With Kurt Cobain, again...I have respect for how he made music and his lyrics. During that *awesome* decade..that is how these bands of today become. There are a lot of amazing bands that are influenced by the raw passion of Cobain.

In my humber opinion- they are both awesome and everyone can relate to.

  • I love Seether.

  • Cobain innovated rock and if it wasn't for his musical talent then we'd all be rocking out to synthesizers and shit. (Not saying he 'Invented' rock or anything, just saying his contributions to grunge music are to thank for what we call good music now.)

  • yeah i've gotta agree :) legend
