Also, I don't want to compare the two legends of spin as you have done, you can have your fav, but telling one is better than the other is incorrect. And murali has a natural physical advantage(the bent arm) to be better at bowling, that does not make it "easier"; you still need skill, control and a great mind to pull it off. I think Lara is slightly better in tests and Tendulkar is clearly better in ODIs (still not crazily better of course). People always say that averages is what matters but they do know that the only reason that Tendulkar has a higher average than Lara is because of all his not outs. Plus he took like 12 more innings than Lara to pass his record.
It is difficult, I think Sachin just over Lara, because he hold the records for most runs in Tests , most centuries and most one day runs.I like Lara because he carried West Indies brittle batting for years, he could hardly afford to fail.They are both a pleasure to watch and we where lucky to be born to enjoy the era
Cricket is not tennis. Looking for the "best" is nearly impossible given all the variables that are added to a team sport. To me personally, it makes more sense to have a personal favourite, cos that is subjective. But the word "best" involves making an objective decision, and unless one can control for all the crazy variables in a team sport, I just don't see how anyone could make the claim that X is the best, unless like Bradman you go off the spectrum in terms of performance. haha.
Also, you could claim that he didn't do it alone. And I have to say I can't remember a game by anyone where they did it single-handedly. Even the recent matches, Kallis needed support from the tail-enders who stepped up to the task. If the others don't support you, then you just cannot win a match. Cricket is primarily a team sport, this question of whether a single man can win the game for a team is a weird question to ask. We are looking for "personal heroes/gods" in a team sport.

lara and tendulakar are two the greatest batsman of the 21 century i don`t like it when u try to compare great players like that who gives a damn if tendulakar has more 100`s or lara has more scores over 200 it`s what they have brought to this beautiful game that counts in my view hell they both have respect of each other so why not have that same respect between viewers on youtube

Sachin is one of the greatest players of all time but never played under the pressure that Brian Lara did. Lara played brilliant innings when everyone else around him was crumbling but when you are a Sachin supporter its obviously all about being biased.
Sachin is not humble enough to praise anyone.While other's praise him going on to say he is the greatest...Statistically not mere runs but if u see the rate at which ponting and sachin score,its the same but sachin has more runs coz of more matches,the rate at which ponting is scoring he would have the same amt of runs as sachin if he plays the same amt of matches.So i would never place sachin above ponting and dont compare stance n all.all these guys are legends but nones better than the other.
Lara was just so graceful and natural, the way he bats. One of the best players to watch. I 'd say Sachin was greater overall but at his peak, there was not many better than Lara.
Lara is Great batsman but the uploader of this video has less knowledge. He compared two greats on his observations and partial known facts. There is no parameter for great innings. A 20 runs inning can be great it depends on situation. All players know how to play spin.. there's no one great for that. Warne and Murali has been hit for many sixes and fours by tailenders too.

And murali has a natural physical advantage(the bent arm) to be better at bowling, that does not make it "easier"; you still need skill, control and a great mind to pull it off. I think Lara is slightly better in tests and Tendulkar is clearly better in ODIs (still not crazily better of course). People always say that averages is what matters but they do know that the only reason that Tendulkar has a higher average than Lara is because of all his not outs. Plus he took like 12 more innings than Lara to pass his record.

Cricket is not tennis. Looking for the "best" is nearly impossible given all the variables that are added to a team sport. To me personally, it makes more sense to have a personal favourite, cos that is subjective. But the word "best" involves making an objective decision, and unless one can control for all the crazy variables in a team sport, I just don't see how anyone could make the claim that X is the best, unless like Bradman you go off the spectrum in terms of performance. haha.

Also, you could claim that he didn't do it alone. And I have to say I can't remember a game by anyone where they did it single-handedly. Even the recent matches, Kallis needed support from the tail-enders who stepped up to the task. If the others don't support you, then you just cannot win a match. Cricket is primarily a team sport, this question of whether a single man can win the game for a team is a weird question to ask. We are looking for "personal heroes/gods" in a team sport.

Lara is Great batsman but the uploader of this video has less knowledge. He compared two greats on his observations and partial known facts. There is no parameter for great innings. A 20 runs inning can be great it depends on situation. All players know how to play spin.. there's no one great for that. Warne and Murali has been hit for many sixes and fours by tailenders too.

@MultiSazam down the order. india being a bigger cricket nation sachin played more matches against stronger teams. faced likes of mcgrath warne akram walsh ambrose murli vaas,akhtar lee more often than lara did and in different conditions..india never had a gr8 nbowling so it was always one challange less for lara..and sachin did well on consistent basis but thts not the smae story in lara's case he in one innings was one lara and han in 10 other innings to follow was just any othr batter.. cont

@MultiSazam even if he scores a fifty of 30 balls .there is class elegance power when required purity of technique balance footwork handeye cordination timing placement which makes it complete package lar if has to score quicker he will paly a slotter take on the spinners tht he plays particularly well.. while sachin cna go after both pacers and spinners..makes no difference..murli regard lara better because his offies turn aways from lara easier to hit. continue.....

@MultiSazam havng scored 7000 more runs than lara in odi..having beeter avg than lara in test odi and better strike than lara in odi u feel sachin is 2nd to him.. then u got problms in ur interpretation.....there is some difference in a player who has 46 odi hundres and the one who go 19..there is some diffrnce in the player who has 49 hundreds quality hundreds in test and the won woh got 34 with 2 useless scores of 350 plus.i hv today compared them in terms of their cricketing record..

u shud no only take on the attcks desparetly and end up loosing the match.. u shud survive to opponents plans..score naturally..and win ur team the match..dont just score against a one dimensional attack. in favorable conditions socre against each attack in every condition. some qualities of gr8est bats man ..lara confirms to few of that, sachin confirms to all of that with better consistency..

@MultiSazam last thing that i can tell you is that point that i hv arrived finally on that lara's stroke making looked good as him being lefty and carrying lefty's elegance..but still sachin demolished each and every record created by any batsman by just silently playing for india and giving hs best which is far ahead of lara..when u will actually go through then u will find out that except for 12 hundreds in odi sachin score rest 33 times india won.. just playing one innings tht is continue..

the only difference between the sides in which he got the 200 was his double ton..remember the australias's tour of india in 98 when after sachin was dismissed for 0 in first innings how hard did he come on warne in 2nd innings he played..?he never backed off form responsibilty of performing but lara did when he took the break from the game

@RITEONFIRE and again let me enlighten you on something, when lara scored 400 he didnt even batted for 2 days, the first day was litterally lost by rain the second day he scored 232 runs when they had a full day and he broke the record just after lunch on the 3rd day.. now this is not something i will hold you accountable for because you didnt watch the game... my friend if lara bat for 3 full days he would score 700 the least.....

Sachin is not inventive? All the shots people play these days which are "new" like the upper cut or the behind the wicket leg side hit or the chip over the keeper are all his.
Almost all new batting innovations are his except of course the switch hit and the dilscoop(marillier).
Has lara ever been as inventive? Hell NO. Sure lara is awesome in tests but he was inconsistent and not even half the player sachin is in odi's.
Sachin had to play in the 90's India team - Need I say more?
