The Beatles themselves were like other men, but the music and lyrics channeled through them contained magic and messages from beyond the mind. Their music channels the truth and the life. Google "Truth Contest" and open the entry called "The Present" and see for yourself!
I remember when this song came out in 1965, I was only 12 years old and it was JAMMING; me, my 2 younger sisters, of course 5 older brothers (who were in a garage-type of band) loved the BEATLES, remember every song, and I absolutely LOVE this tune. If you think about it now, it has a "double-entendre" meaning, if ya know what I mean, girl says at the end, I got no car, breaking my heart, but I got a DRIVER?and that's a start!!!! whoo, anyway I love this song, fantastic Lennon-McCartney!
@daffy16324 The Funny thing is whatever the Non-Dirty meaning your thinking of is technically the wrong way of thinking about it, since the song the was directly influenced by sex. Just go look up on the the beatles bible for more info
I wish I could think of a Beatles tune that I dont like. Maybe a cover song. People will listen to this as long as there is music. I guess that is where the word :classic: comes from.
I just love the opening guitar in this song. I could listen to those 2 seconds of great music all day. And the rest of the song is just great. Love what they've done with this song on Love. Great transistions...
Anybody remember listening to WCBS 101.1 with Harry Harrison back in the eighties? When the radio station used the background vocals of this song. When I was a kid I had no idea it was the Beatles until I became a big Beatles fan obviously when I grew up.
Back in the 60's we would beg for the club band to play as many Beatles songs as they knew. This was always a crowd pleaser. A great dance number back in the day.
@mortygwhiz However, I am not aware of the Beatles performing this song live.
Their 1966 tours did include Nowhere Man and If I Needed Someone, both of which were on the British version of "Rubber Soul" but were on "Yesterday and Today" in the U.S. Same album placement for Drive My Car.
