And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.' " Alquran, Ibrahim:7
Great video, very touching. I noticed you saw John Kerry and Deval Patrick there. Did they roll up their sleeves like real men and work like thousands of us in Western Mass did or did they hang around for an hour and then leave without breaking a sweat? ...I thought so.
That's my sister& brother-in -laws house upper left at 1:10. The reason it didn't blow away was because of all the trees that fell on it! Lucky for him, he rode it out in the basement.
A very SPECIAL Thank You to all who found value in this video. Truly an unfortunate event that will never be forgotten. My heart goes out to ALL who were affected either directly or indirectly. And a huge Thank You to ALL who helped in any way !!!!!!!!
my thoughts 4 all those who lost someone. i live in monson but on one of the few streets that didnt get hit . but, THANKS 4 ALL THE CREW WORKING ON THE CLEAN UP! i knew some of the people who's houses were shown and its so much worse than what these pics shown ... even though there were great shots
I live in ware, and even though it didn't hit us, I was still scared as fuck, the sky was like neon yellow, but because it didn't hit us, we can help the other towns with the clean up.
@SGTSnEAkypAnTs A NEON YELLOW SKY is exactly RIGHT! When I saw that glowing over the western horizon, and realized it was at least 2 hours until sunset ... I knew we were in for serious trouble. I later learned this is caused by heavy ozone levels charged with static electricity.
God Bless that no one was tragically hurt and all walked away. I am terribly sorry you are all left with sorrow and the overwhellming feeling of where to start now. It's going to be tough but coming from monson for over half my life, monson ppl are tough and friendly. You will make it and make it better, neighbors helping neighbors. Good luck everyone.
I feel for you, Monson. I lived in MA for 7 years and realize the freakish nature of this incident. I never saw anything like that happen before. Seeing the pictures of the damage, reminds me of the hurricanes we have to battle every year here in Puerto Rico. Best to you all and may the recovery be a quick one. Chin up!
Having grown up in the very scenic town of Monson (and ironically having lived in Springfield three years) and hearing about this is very shocking. It's a miracle the series of tornadoes that hit Western MA only claimed four lives.
The true character of a people tends to come out during times of crisis and from the stories I have read of people helping out their neighbors demonstrates the character and decency of the people of Monson.
My prayers go out to all who are affected by this disaster. And I am especially grateful that all the members of my family are safe...houses can be rebuilt. Loved ones can't. May the Good Lord continue to watch over the people in Monson as well as those in all the towns affected by this disaster.
Living in neighboring Palmer, seeing this brings tears for sure. Some areas will now look more like fields than forests when cleared. Thanks for the upload!
Hearing about a tornado destroying a town doesn't hit home for most... until it happens to be your hometown. The epicenter of this tornado hit about one mile from where I spent the bulk of my childhood. I moved out of Monson over fifteen years ago, but when I saw this it really tore my heart out. I only wish I were there to help, even in some small way.
My houghts and prayers go out to everyone who was affected by this.
Thank you for this. I just walked down main from First (Congregational) Church not an hour ago ... it takes your breath away. Drove over the hill from Brogan down Ely yesterday .. home after home buried in trees and the horizon littered with matchsticks. It is strangely gratifying to be "home" to experience this awesome and terrible witness. God Bless.
I have to give a HUGE amount of credit on this video to Bob Freeman who chose the music and put it all together for me ~ Thank you sooooo much ~ you're the GREATEST!!!!
I didn't go up Ely Road. There were too many trees down blocking the end of the road. Same with East Hill Road, I just couldn't get down it. These pictures are just of Main Street, Bethany Road and Washington Street.
It still brings tears to my eyes too everytime I watch this video!! Our little town just doesn't look the same any more.
