Swedish is an official language of Finland though, and is spoken as a first language by a minority, of which the singer of Finntroll is a part, which is why they sing in Swedish.

@Difellior no, that's incorrect. Vreth, the singer is a swede living in Finland, and Kattla, their previous fromer singer, is a swede too. So seeing that the band is inspired to write music with tales of trolls and nature in general, it's in swedish that these tales be more fit to sing. A right reason. Start singing about trolls in Finnish and see how weird will it sound. Trolls come from scandinavian folklore.

Scandinavia is a geographical region, the people who live here are scandinavians. Finland is a country that is part of the Nordic Council (which is where people may get confused?) but it is not on the Scandinavian Peninsula. The Finnish language is *much* different than languages spoken in Scandinavia (Which are fairly similar one way or another) and the history and culture is also different. There are also many genetic differences between Finns and Scandinavians.
