The whole fantasia is played way waaaaaaaay too slow.Some of the worst piano playing I've ever heard by a supposed great pianist.This was showpiece,and Glen is playing it about 1/2 speed.Sounds terrible.Epic Fail Glen.And this is the guy who said that Mozarts 40th symphony was "8 revolutionary measures surrounded by 30 minutes of banality.Glen,you didnt know shit about Mozart,and I'm glad you didnt play much of his music,because you sucked at it.

@GTD13447 Hey,a bad performance is a bad performance.And Glen Gould is vastly over-rated.He played Bach well,and thats about it.And even with Bach,he hummed and made popping noises all thru his recordings(Listen to Bachs Goldberg variations,and several other recordings as well) If you want to hear some truly great classical pianists, Listen to Zimmerman, Horowitz,Perahia,Valentina Lisatov,just to name a few.And if you want to hear a great interpreter of Mozart,listen to Walter Klien.

Dont assume you know everything about a musician by one video/one performance on youtube.As for Gould, he did do a fair a job on some of Beethovens pieces.And he is reknowned for his Bach,of course.But he often made negative comments about Mozart.He once said about the 40th Symphony "8 amazing measures surrounded by 40 minutes of banality".He was a snob.Period.

It simply defiles this sacred forum and gives these perverted people with their deviant tastes an opportunity to spray their graffiti as if they were at a rap concert. :-( Increasingly, such guttersnipes seem to show up at venues they simply don't belong in. The only common denominator between them seems to be the lowest one, as evidenced below.

@1AdrianR Thanks for the good word. It's sad that the graffiti's still plastered all over this post, but the music remains, and I guess that's what counts. I have observed that posts of playing by Gould and Richter, among a few others, seem to attract these hounds, almost as if they had found a fire-hydrant to spray in an announcement of their presence. It's unfathomable, really, as pianists of this caliber were consummate, serious musicians, and not the sort to attract denizens of the mosh pit.
