  • Hi James,

What's the make of the solar panel controller?

Also, where is the battery & what capacity is it?

I take it, it is a proper leisure battery?

  • GREAT VIDEO, INTERESTING IDEA BUT WOULD IT NOT BE BETTER TO HAVE THE CHARGE CONTROL AND INVERTER IN A WATERPROOF BOX?

  • @dazinull Well the trailer is fully water tight so all the electronics are as protected as the're going to get. Thanks for your comments though..

  • Cool set-up! Very nice bit of kit for camping. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hi, couple of questions and suggestions for you.

    1) That 12v extension lead, is that something you made or can you purchase them like that?

    2) An MPPT controller will help in the Uk.

    3) For safety you should really have a small ground spike in the trailer attached to the earth pin of your mains side, then when parked hammer this into the ground.

    4) Good job with the panel mount, Is it stable in winds though? (when tilted)

    Thanks for sharing

  • @hippyraverocker Hi.. The 12v lead is actually a 240v mains extention lead. I just swapped the plugs and sockets to 12v plug and adapter. Not sure what a MPPT controller is but I'll google it.. Never really thought of the spike.. is this for earthing for the 240v system? if so, it is negative earthed.. will that do?

The solar panel is stable, even in gusty winds. I do need to make a locking bracket though, it on the list of things to do.

Thanks for your feed back... Sorry about the thumb :(

  • @m6pcg MPPT controller is a charge controller, except about 20-25% more efficient than a standard one. I.e. You get more power. The spike would earth your 240v system, negative earthed is not enough really. It's not required, but for peace of mind I would add one.

Thanks for the upload, keep up the good work...you have more room for panels there yet ;-)

  • What happened to the audio? Like from :40 seconds to 1:18 is missing.

  • @UnkleJustin

It's there, but you need to turn up the volume. Think he may have put his thumb over the mic accidentally.
