hey now ~QMS is playin Sausalito again, this mon labor day 09 this year ! looking foward to new footage with the new camera.stay tuned~~new post to follow!
I believe your 'Barbara' is actually David Freiberg (QMS bassist) - Chet "Dino Vallenti" Powers passed away in 1992 - he was living in Santa Rosa, California
74LesPaul is right on the mark. Quicksilver Messenger Service were one of the first rock bands that caught my attention way back in '68...I still remember when you could hear "What About Me?" on AM radio! The whole band was underrated. But they were as much a part of the revolution as Airplane of the Dead. Thanks for posting this tribute to Cippilina!
John Cippllina - before he passed away, one of the most underated guitarists of all time. Classically trained, just a fantastic player. This is the San Francisco sound. A sound that is hard to explain, but you know it when you hear it. I was a 17 year old when all of this was originally happening.
John Cipollina's tone and ability to express himself through his guitar touched people in places they didn't know existed. His signature sound will stand alone for all time. He was a major component of the musical thread that became and is the "San Francisco sound".
Amazing sound - I still love this band - QMS - since nearby 35 years - also in Europe this band was well known in the late 60ies and 70ies. Peter Austria
THE BOTTOM END...DONE FELL RIGHT-OUTTA' THE Band! Well, these dudes are "SurvivorS" Anyway,Of what was Known as "One of the BIGGEST Bands" to Headline @ Fillmore West and the Ol' Avalon Ballroom! Time Ravages, the Many...I Guess!! ( We Wish,Cippollina,Valenti,Hopkins...(Wheres' Greg Ellmore?),Had Taken Better Care of Their Health! Maybe We Would Still Have 'em AROUND! Making Really Superior Music!!
Would Have Liked to See That Much Talent Assembled ANYWHERE these Days! They need to Book a Few Gigs "BACK-EAST" so the Rest o'Us Could Relive&Live the "DAYS of YESTERYEAR"!
GAWD! THIS HURTS! Reminscent of a Poor Ol'3-Legged DAWG! They're tryin' to recreate that which was once ,Spectacular,HIGH-ENERGIED GOLDEN AGE OF TH' SAN FRANSISCO JAM BANDS' ERA! JEFFERSON AIRPLANE, LOVE, GRATEFUL DEAD, MOBY GRAPE,"Q.M.S" etc.,etc.. SORTA' Like listnin' to the DEAD...W/O JERRY GARCIA, or PHIL LESH,or 'PIGPEN' McKERNAN! IT Jus' DON't SEEM The SAME?! Does IT!
Sausalito and QMS, good take. Wish my old houseboat was still floating like these guys....hey where did they go......come back and finish the song, damn it!!!

They never could sing harmony very well. Dino looks like Barbara Bush. They sound like a garage band.
