What bat is that(altered or not) , what core/comp ball, and what size are those fields. The reason I ask is cause that was a nice easy swing and that thing jumped off the bat.
@kanyeezy24 in certain leagues you have a limit of how many homeruns you can hit because it's so freakin easy. after you hit the limit, some leagues it's for an out and other's it ends the inning. leagues have to have gay rules because players still want to use juiced bats and balls and feel like their monsters at the plate when they're not.
I've been playing slow pitch softball most of my life, and as much as I love it, even I can admit that it hardly qualifies as a sport. It's basicaly a glorified practice.
if the rule is home runs end the inning and there is no outs with game on the line i see why guys would bitch at him, all you have to do is keep it in the park and they are happy with you
@TexasRaTleSnake316 agreed. if you can't hit a line drive or a ground ball through a gap especially since they're not playing a 5-man infield, you suck as a hitter. seriously.
use to say that was a selfish thing to do when I saw guys do it until it happened to me in an SPN tourney, im no HR hitter either usually a dbls guy and sure if it carried out for 3rd out was my second one I pt out first counted but 2nd didnt and was a big out but we did end up winning the game though
This is why I quit playing softball 10 years ago. Once they took the home runs away I had to try to dink the ball around the park in fear of hitting it too hard for an out and if you went middle you got jawed at by the other team. It just took all the fun out of it for me. Still a good game just not for me.
@DoubledUpIrish yeah i feel you. why i like the league i am in. we get a 3 run home run limit and then progressive. however after that if you hit a home run its a single hit. which is way better then an out.
The rule isnt dumb. I play c tourneys and d and e leagues. My tourney team and league team are the same thing, it helps you stay true to what matters in hitting the gaps
Gotta hit middle or oppo in that situation since you obviously have HR power. Pitcher was prob wishing you'd swing at that pitch and you did him the favor. At least it was only a league game.
Wow...they really crapped on this guy!! I have never heard of such a rule in ANY league!! Some leagues you have a home run limit and once you go over that, it's an out! Not an inning ending out!
The rule is not dumb. There are plenty of people out there that can hit home runs in slow pitch softball. Play in a *real* league where anyone in the lineup is capable of doing it and you'll see why they have the rule.
In Texas USSSA "E" League any homerun is not only an out, but it is an inning ending out. In "D" leagues it is just an out. We were playin in an "E" league
@leonsulak and actually, those rules depend on what league you play in. Mansfield E tourneys allow 2 homers a game. Rowlett e LEAGUE allows 3 homers a game. Its all based on the parks discretion. Some play straight up by utrip and other vary around it
Talk about shitty team mates. All they did was bitch at the guy. I play on a very good team, qualified for nationals several times, and at no time do we bitch at each other like this team does. Freakin' rediculous.
Yet another stupid rule in slow pitch softball. Let them play the damn game. Hitting the ball out of the park shouldn't be punished, thats just impressive. In my league it's a single.
I thought it was just an out too..didn't know it ended the inning. Someone explain this to me please? I get that they had no homeruns left, but isn't that just ONE gone?
Keep your swing. You got some backspin with the swing. If you play one-up on the bombs, ask your team to step it up and get some more hits that equal runs. There are off nights in offense for a team, but your bomb does not lose the game, it just ended it.
I actually did the same thing in a no homeruns tourny about 7 years ago with bases loaded and no outs. We were using mush balls and I didn't even come close all day to hitting the fence until my last at bat. Infact the person running the tourny told me that I was the only person who hit a homerun that day. Would have been my first grandslam ever. Better luck next time Leon. Thanks for posting this, I don't feel so alone anymore.
Alot of state ASA tournaments, especially in 08' and 09' had the rule "Inning ending out" for any homerun hit over the fence! My team was involved in almost the exact same situation in 08' we were down by 3 with the bases loaded and no outs, next to last inning and our guy crushes one straight away centerfield. we never recovered from that and lost!

This appears to be a USSSA scantioned league. I'm guessing they are playing rules where a home run over the limit is an inning ending out

Thats a tough rule. It would probably be a better game if they used the RIF balls.... thoes things never seem to go over a fence
