this is one of the reason for when im 18 i will quit my religon. i dont like the fact that the bible says witches are evil and stuff some off theses people were inoccent! yep hate it only other thing that i hate (which i just found out) in the bibble it says gays and lesbians should be killed and not holy! i thought god love every one but some off this stuff i cant stand for :/
The bible does not instruct us to kill witches or gay people, or anyone. God commands the exact opposite.
You are watching a documentary so you seem to enjoy learning. Why not study your religion first before you decide to leave it? Do you know the difference between God's law and Biblical statutes?
This is exactly why i'm a wiccan, Christianity has caused the deaths of more people than every war we have ever had. For a god of love and peace this jesus sure does demand an awful lot of blood. My gods however only demand that you show honor to the spirits and each other
@aaKonda Nature exists and if i have to decide i would rather believe in something i can see then a carpenter nailed to a piece of wood who "might" exist
@Temujin91 "Jesus" dose not demand Blood.. Its..the leaders who do.. "Never trust a man who puts his words in the mouth of god and says there lies there absulte truth and lies and they smell like death" Listen to a song called "god thinks" by voltiare..he explains it pretty well..
Jane Kamensky reminds me of my mom. All she needs is laugh lines and she could be my long lost aunt! Anyway, thank you SO MUCH for uploading these videos. My U.S. hist class is studying these trials and now we also have to write an essay about them in English. But these videos and some fun role-play activities made it...not torture!
@SuperYellow1989 Back then they thought that women were just the recepticle. They thought that in man's seed, there was already a perfectly formed human- in the woman it just grew and left her body when it was ready. I guess that's why when a woman had a miscarriage, she could be accused as a witch, as well.
(cont.) (the mud and dirt is your sin) now you cant honestly expect him to let you just come into the perfect beautiful house just like that can you? you just need to be cleansed of the mud and dirt so that you don't taint perfection.
(cont.) life. we deserve eternal punishment because of what we did wrong, and its fair because since the standards are impossible to meet, he gave us another way, the blood of jesus that i was just talking about. and if anything its not like your father is forcing you to give a blood sacrifice for forgiveness, but more like you live in a giant, beautiful, perfect mansion(heaven). you go outside to play and when you want to come in your completely covered in layers of mud and dirt.
(cont.) and the relationship between us and god is different from any that humans can share. also, now that you mention it, its not actually the belief of god in itself that takes you to heaven, but its asking and receiving for forgiveness and to be cleansed from your sins with jesus's blood, thats why he decided that the blood of the perfect lamb was necessary, we are filthy with sin which cannot be in heaven and only the pure blood of his sacrifice can wash us clean so that we can have eternal
But anyway, all this arguing about the specifics of religion isn't going to change either of our minds. You can believe what you want to believe. This whole debate got started because of people trying to pretend that their beliefs are back up by scientific evidence. They are not. Believe it, fine, but don't pretend it's proven is all I'm saying. Admit that it's faith and faith alone.
A theocracy on Earth is not a good thing, ie Salem Witch Trials and Spanish Inquisition. A government is there to keep peace and protect its people. Evidence is all around us. unless your blind (which i doubt because your reading, writing, and watching videos on youtube) you can see EVERYTHING its all a creation of god, and if you want to disagree with that, why dont you provide evidence as to where it did all come from?
@peteyhadchiti "Where did it all come from?" mmmm, thats a general question. but let's use basic reasoning, in short, Science! earth came from the big bang which took 4 billion yrs to get to where we are today. & We came from evolution. :)
@small0but0mighty ahhh the big bang... the theory that there was nothing, and nothing happened to nothing, then all of a sudden for no reason nothing exploded and turned into everything...so your insisting that it is possible for nothing to just randomly explode AND that the explosion would create all the starts, planets, and all the life there is. even if any of that made any sense, last time i checked, explosions destroyed things, not created life...
@peteyhadchiti ahhh creationism...the theory that there was an invisible man sitting up in the clouds who got bored one day and decided to magically 'poof' everything into existence, including humans, which he made from dust on the ground. so you're insisting that it is impossible for something to come from nothing and that everything must have a creator, but this creator for some reason, is himself exempt from this rule and can exist on his own without a creator.
@1981reznor an almighty creature not needing a creator? yeah that does make sense if he truly is all mighty and omnipotent and omniscient and if he already exists then everything else makes perfect sense. when u see a clock, you subconsciously know for a fact there is an intelligent clockmaker behind it when u see a giant supercomputer that can calculate anything or find any answer in seconds you know that there must be not only intelligent but a truly brilliant designer behind it
@1981reznor in extention 2 the other thing... so those things however well designed still need somebody behind them and after they're made they still need somebody to maintain them so they dont fall apart. however we have our bodies and systems that all work together to maintain itself perfectly and we are intelligent enough to even fix ourselves when something goes wrong (doctors)... so with humans bieng such a beautiful design. imagine the brilliance of the designer himself!
@peteyhadchiti but if you can accept that god has always been and needs no creator why can't you accept that the universe has always been and needs no creator? and even if there is an intelligent designer why do people always assume is is THEIR particular god who did it? maybe it is the god of another religion or maybe it was some higher power that we know absolutely nothing about.
@1981reznor answer to the first question: the universe isn't an all-powerful, perfect, intelligent being that is outside of time, it is a thing that had a creator. and i don't believe it is my god so to speak, but rather our god. we all have one god and its every persons choice on whether or not they want to worship him or something else. Christianity based directly on the bible is the only thing that makes sense and cannot be disproved by anything, as a matter of fact science does support it.
@SonOfGodLives Just because you don't understand something or understand how it began doesn't mean you get to insert a magical explanation for it. If you use logic to answer how something as complex as the universe got here then you answer has to follow logic too. Theres no scientific reason to think that anything exists outside the laws of nature and thinking there is such a thing is a belief not a scientific theory. If you want to believe that, fine but don't pretend its supported by evidence
@SonOfGodLives Saying christianity based on the bible is the only thing that makes sense is nothing but unadulterated ethnocentrism. Everybody thinks that their particular religion is the only one that makes sense, otherwise they wouldn't believe in that religion. A god sending himself to earth in human form to "sacrifice" himself to come back to heaven to be with "himself" again instead of just forgiving people because he loves them does not make sense at all. Why must bloodshed be involved?
@SonOfGodLives Science absolutely does not support the bible. The stars and sun were here long before the earth was, unlike what the bible says. Many species, including dinosaurs died out millions of years before man appeared, unlike what the bible says. Snakes and burning bushes cannot talk, unlike what the bible says. You may believe that this was satan and god respectively but that is just a belief. It is not supported by science. And then there's Noah's flood, which is anything but science.
@small0but0mighty It's only because i understand science too well... all of your theories are occurrences of random chance, but if you took the time to research any of them, you would eventually learn that all the odds are so low its impossible. go ahead. check.
@peteyhadchiti I have checked, that's why I believe in science NOT religion. I see this is going no where! We both have our views and we are not going to change each others minds. You Believe in god and I think religion was man made primarily to keep social control.
So there is no point in agruing over it, Have a good day Hun! : )
@small0but0mighty there is a point to argueing... lets say what i'm argueing for is correct, then you will suffer eternal damnation in hell just because i decided to stop argueing. now assuming your rite... nothing happens to eather of us because we'll just rot into the ground and we stop existing. i want to prevent that first thing from happening to any person i possibly can.
@peteyhadchiti Look up Pascal's Wager. It's not a good reason for believing. You could just as easily end up in Islamic hell if that turns out to be the true religion. Besides if God would send someone to burn in Hell for eternity just for not believing that a Jewish carpenter who may or may not have lived 2000 years ago died for his sins on faith alone, even if they have lived a good life, then he sounds like a megalomaniacal prick with no sense of justice. I'll take my chances with Satan.
@1981reznor lets keep this about christianity and athiesm, more religions will make it too complicated. now that fact that jesus lived 2000 years ago, thats a fact 100% true, the question for people was if he was really the messiah or not. and god would not send a good person to hell ever even if they didnt believe in him, but the problem is, there are no good people. he told us all the rules and things we could and couldnt do. the problem is, nobody can live up to these expectations.
@peteyhadchiti I have to disagree. Please, please, please don't bite my head of for doing so. I personally believe that, because I've been taught that God is a loving father figure, God will not give us rules that we can't live up to. Rather, He waits patiently for us to realize that we CAN do anything and we CAN become the good people that are buried deep within ourselves. And maybe it's a good thing that His expectations are so high. If they weren't, what would we have left to strive for?
@1981reznor (continuation) if you break one rule, once, thats it, you arent a good person and arent worthy of getting into heaven by his standards. thats why he needed to send his son jesus, the one that was perfect, the pure lamb, to be sacrificed and take our punishments so that through him we can be allowed into heaven and have everlasting life, those who chose not to ask forgiveness and believe in jesus are on their way to eternal suffering in the lake of fire.
@peteyhadchiti Oh wow. Where do I begin? Ok, first off, nice way of avoiding the issue of other religions. As if Christianity is the only religion even worth arguing about. Once again, ethnocentrism rears its ugly head. Any religion is just as likely to be true as any other. Christianity doesn't get a free pass just because it's the dominant religion in the U.S. Second, it is not a 100% proven fact that Jesus existed but I'm not gonna get into that because his physical existence as a man is
@1981reznor (continued) irrelevant, the question is whether he had supernatural powers or was the son of God. And the whole argument about how humans are inherently bad and don't deserve to go to Heaven is one that I find highly disgusting and am sick of hearing. It's like being in an abusive relationship where you partner constantly puts you down and tells you you don't deserve mercy but through their "good graces" they will give it to you anyway. Nobody deserves eternal torment. And you can
Respond to this video... (continued) argue the logistics of the whole set-up all you want because it all still boils down to God sending someone to burn in Hell forever because of a belief, or lack thereof. You can say we deserve it and God had this master plan with Jesus, the lamb and blah blah blah all you want. The bottom line still remains that he is punishing that person because of a single belief that they didn't have. And that brings me to my final point: you say that we don't
Respond to this video... (continued) deserve to go to Heaven because we are tainted with sin, so God had to send Jesus to take our punishment. But who is the one making the rules here? God. Who is the one that decided blood must be shed in order to forgive sin? God. Why do we DESERVE eternal torment for not living up to impossible standards? If your child did something wrong, would you forgive him just because you love him or would you demand a blood sacrifice?
@1981reznor i only avoided all the other ones because this right now is between a christian and an athiest, all the other ones can be disproven when i talk to people of that religion. and hell was never originally ment for us in the first place, it was ment for lucifer (satan) but when adam ate the fruit he brought sin into the world and those who weren't forgiven couldn't be allowed into heaven because they were still tainted with their sin and sin cannot be in heaven.
@peteyhadchiti Long Story Short...I started learning about science, studied the bible, NOT read it but actually looked deep into what it was saying. Than i started questioning things that my ex church memebers dont like to question. My preist nor religious friends could give me answers. I began to think rationally and realized religion is not the thing for me. I don't believe in god anymore. This was not over night, it took a while.
@small0but0mighty first: sorry, i didnt check my email for a couple of days. ok so you said your priest, and that implies that you were catholic (correct me if i'm wrong) they dont strictly follow the bible, they are just caught up in worshipping the wrong people and holding on to old traditions, thats probably why those people didnt know the answers, they dont know the bible, but if you try to argue strictly with the bible, and someone who is properly educated on it, youll see that
A group of people wanting to come here to set up a theocracy based on the writings of a particular religion and condemning people who don't agree with them? Sounds like a familiar scenario today where people are afraid to speak against a certain religion who is getting their foot in our court system today and gaining ground in other areas because everyone is scared to call them out. It's true - those who don't know history or doomed to repeat it.
This is excellent and really, REALLY interesting! It's the first time I've seen a documentary or the in depth reason why it happened. Not just 'the girls were oppressed so much they went mental' opinion! Thanks for posting! x
Did those puritans ever realize that they killed innocent people and that one of the ten commandments is NOT TO KILL! I dont believe that all witches are evil and that their GONNA CAST A SPELL ON YOUUUU AHDKJSJF But the acts of some of the so called puritans are just as evil and ruthless as Satan himself.
@bbthevampire but it also says do not suffer a witch to live... its a stupid paraodx... this is why I don't believe everything the bible says. I believe there is a God... but the bible was a book written about god by men. it wasn't written by god. lol
this is one of the reason for when im 18 i will quit my religon. i dont like the fact that the bible says witches are evil and stuff some off theses people were inoccent! yep hate it only other thing that i hate (which i just found out) in the bibble it says gays and lesbians should be killed and not holy! i thought god love every one but some off this stuff i cant stand for :/

Its weird how instead they assume women were stupid and closer to the devil.

A theocracy on Earth is not a good thing, ie Salem Witch Trials and Spanish Inquisition. A government is there to keep peace and protect its people. The First Amendment is supposed to protect freedom of religion, speech, and the press.

@peteyhadchiti I was Christian for ten years already. Been there done that.
small0but0mighty 4 months ago
@small0but0mighty seriously? what brought you to stop?
peteyhadchiti 4 months ago

The Puritans did not remain British Citizens because the Country of Great Britain was not in existence until the Act of Union 1707!
Major error there.

I believe there is a God... but the bible was a book written about god by men. it wasn't written by god. lol

Read the Crucible by Arthur Miller. It's a very good piece that is about this time period while drawing on experience from the 1950s McCarthy trials

@sky19176 Because in this sick society we have people fear the puritans because if they were here today they would set everyone stright.
