Everyone saying "you could've called/emailed/written"; do you know what the point of backpacking across Europe is? It's to go out and explore, not sit around on the phone or on a computer. Phones and internet are available at any times everywhere, even in the smallest villages. I am not buying this story. Totally weird that he disappeared without even saying good-bye. There was no good-bye kiss? No "Well, I'm off to Europe tomorrow; I'll miss you while I'm gone!" She didn't take him to the airport? How did she miss all the planning, all the conversations about where he was going to go and what he was going to do?
