@MrLepperman Uh...they already made that movie in 1980. Great cast, Box office bomb. Made before we even found Titanic's wreck so there's a few inaccuracies.
As glorious as she was, Titanic was always, and will be for all eternity, the ship of dreams. May all who died rest in the Heavens above, knowing that they will never be forgotten.
If no one remebers them April 14th 2012, may the rot in hell for all eternity.
@monkeychild41. Actually not all the first class children made it, there was one who died, and all the second class children made it, and about 40-50 third class childred died.
The part of the film which makes you realize this is a good representation of what actually happened nearly 100 years. Just to think people actually went through this. Watching and knowing not only your death, but your childrens deaths were imminent, the thoughts and feelings inside those peoples hearts doesn't even bare thinking about. R.I.P to all of those thousands that lost their lives in 1912. I just hope it's probably remembered on the 10th of April, 2012.
@xBlueDahlia89x It's more emotional because the band actually played this AND the man and the wife in their bed were actually real people known today as Mr. and Mrs. Isador and Ida Strauss. Only Isador body was recovered. If Ida's body HAD been recovered, it was never identified.
@xBlueDahlia89x The bit with the mother just kills me. I mean how she could have done it i have no idea. To be able to calm your children down and put them to bed as normal and watch them as they sleep, knowing you've just in effect sealed theirs and your fate by staying below deck astonishes me. I love that James Cameron really humanized this no matter how much people may say it was cheesy or whatever it is still a powerful piece of filmmaking.
I used to cry at the scene with the mother and children until I did some research and found out that as second class children, they would have been saved. 100% of both first and class children were saved, unlike the 35% of third class children who were saved. All in all, though, moving scenes and kudos to the historical accuracy of the movie. :)
@xBlueDahlia89x The people you are talking about are Ida and Isador Strauss - who were actually passengers on the Titanic, they refused to part company, and both went down with the ship. There's lots of information about them on the net.
@PremiereDirector Yes, I'm aware of their names. I've done so much Titanic research since I first saw the movie at the age of 7 (now I'm 22). It's so interesting to read about the passengers lives before Titantic. They were the founders of Macy's department store or something of that nature I believe.
@xBlueDahlia89x You and me both, I am turning 24 this year, and I've driven my family mad with my relentless Titanic discussions. Isador was co-owner of Macy's department store. Reports talk about what Ida said that fateful night; "I will not be separated from my husband. As we have lived, so will we die together"... now that's a committed marriage - so rarely seen these days.
I know, that 2 of the musicans worked on the Carpathia before the went to work on the Titanic, yes. - Nobody of the musicans outlived the tragedy.

Oh, so bad. I cry, when I see the mother with the children and the old couple (they were on the real titanic too Mr. and Mrs. Strauss. ).

Lets never forget those 1,517 souls who perished when the Titanic sank on April 15th 1912.

It really was. And the mother with her children and the husband and wife in their bed as the water was coming in.
