  • My New Native American and Anasazi flute album is now available on amazon.com and cdbaby.com. I put samples of a few tracks up on my channel. Thanks for listening and enjoy!

  • 'Sussex Carol' has been around for at least three centuries and is classed as traditional even though the words were first published by an Irish (Franciscan) bishop, Luke Wadding, in 'A Small Garland of Pious and Godly Songs', (Gent 1684) What is certain is that the version we sing today was collected by Cecil Sharp and Ralph Vaughan Williams in Sussex England from the singing of Harriet Verrall of Monk's Gate, and first Published in 1919 in Eight Traditional Carols.

  • Very nice version,

    Peace & Joy to all

  • This was not written by an Irish Bishop. It was an old English Folk song collected by Ralph Vaughan Williams in Sussex, England. He used it in his fantasia on Christmas Carols

  • It seems purported the Christmas Sussex carol was written by a 17th century Irish Bishop Luis Wadding, thus calling it Celtic. Give it a Merry Christmas google to confirm!

  • It sounds Christmas-y to me. It is SO beautiful and lifts my heart. Thank you for posting it.

  • Thank you for the kind words. The entire album is on Itunes, cdbaby and amazon if you are interested. Have a great Christmas!!

  • The main reason for the album name is the instrumentation. There are also several Irish traditional tunes on the album. Thanks for listening.

  • Since when has the Sussex Carol had anything to do with a 'Celtic Christmas'?
