Tht wasnt a mistake!
The mistakewas throwing the poor old rooster on the roof. Of course it stayed up there all day, they love to roost. It likely was waiting for you to come back out so he could jump on you--and your stick!

I too had a bad rooster named chief. I crowed at him once, from then on he tried to jump on me from the back. I carried a stick when I went in the yard. He became chicken and dumplings and I had "Chiefs revenge" for 3 days!
