It's nothing more than coyotes imho. Have you run an analysis on it? It's at the low to mid range for coyotes. Not trying to be an asshole but just stating a fact.
@BFResearchSE I've had it looked at to death by universities, outdoorsmen, hunters, BF researchers, biologists, you name it. All have replied 'unknown call or not an known animal'. But I of course asked about Coyotes, owls etc. All said no. Also, in the same area, 2 more folks one a year prior heard a very similar thing and these guys know the outdoors...so who knows....
@robc1219 Analyzing the call itself...I did not do. It sounded somewhat like coyote but very difficult to hear. I made the assumption it was coyote's yelps. If it wasn't then the analytics I ran would not apply. The analytics I ran were based on harmonics for the coyote yelps. Using that type of call, those would-be yelps (again difficult for me to hear) would have been midrange. Bottomline, if they're not and the call itself is different then could very well have been unknown.
@BFResearchSE Personally I think the audio may have come back unknown if you didn't give them enough to listen to as opposed to the call itself being unique.
thanks for clearing the sounds up, i listened to the original post and it was hard to tell but i still thought it was a squatch vocalisation, quite a few people now have recorded very similar sounds, take care :)
