I am trying to find the right adjective to go with this display of skill and artistry. I got to see Les and Lou on more than one occasion at the irridium(s). How lucky I was. Lucky again today to find this YouTube. Just great.
also der "alte" ist unglaublich! WAU WAU !!! standing ovations von meinem sessel aus!bravo.. und schaut immer noch so unschuldig aus ... kicher .. und hat immer noch spass ...... grossartig!!
Pt II: The interplay between Les and the bassist is priceless. Full props to the rhythm player, whose time is, and changes are, dead on, and who is (physically) the hardest working person on that stage. (Name, anyone?)
RIP, Sir: You and your name are immortal in Western Civilization, for however long that survives.
Good God, so much going on here, hope I can get it all in...
"Moon" is Les' most famous recording, and instead of replicating it instrumentally (which he has done elsewhere, and it is great), he's approached it completely differently: The first third is an r'n'b version, sort of what it would sound like if Santo & Johhny had recorded it; then it goes into what we expect, until the solos begin. When the bass solos, Les actually starts supplying a bass part!
it's a 1970 Gibson Les Paul Recording guitar, and there were quite a few made. It seems he has several of them and he prefers them over the other models
I have to correct myself.....it is a Les Paul Personal guitar, now he plays a Les Paul Recording guitar. It wasn't developed at the time of this program. It came out about 1970 or so. The Personal came out about a year or two before. His guitar today is the Recording guitar. Sorry for the misinformation

I thought the rhythm guitarist was a little heavy between about 3:00 and 3:50 or so, but other than that this was one of the best performances ever.

Salut Grand Les Paul.
Merci pour tout ce que tu as fait.
Va rejoindre Leo Fender et ensemble, faites-nous une Les Paul Stratocaster ?
Why not ?

@tuxguys A year late, but the rhythm player is the great Lou Pallo.

@tuxguys Totally agree, but then again I only play rhythm, so I am biased.

@tuxguys His name is Lou Pallo, he was with Les for years right through the iridium days. He is so good at those chord changes.

Even with arthritis. Les puts so much feeling and character into his playing that no matter how old he gets, he will always have it. So beautiful.
