  • tem q ser Brasil.

    fuiiiiiiii

  • I was at that roda, that game was hype, the energy was so high, meste moraes went into some crazy trance, and for one moment during the roda, I felt like he was levitating.

  • why explain to the ufc lot? let the slavemasters continue to be confounded

  • If you watch and pretend to understand capoeira angola from a martial art point of view, sorry, you will never know what capoeira angola is all about.

It is not a sport, and it cannot be limited to a title of martial art, it is an ancient art of self defense, ritual, musicality, and spirituality combined, the beauty is to hide your cards, and not to show it all ever.

  • martial artists are idiots...i've trained over a dozen different styles (including capoeira angola and regional) and concluded that people who take their own shit too seriously are just plain ignorant. MMA people are the worst example: somehow if it doesnt work in UFC they think it has no value. thats a retarded way of looking at it. by that logic, i guess i shouldnt learn to read since it's useless in the octagon.

    that being said, great video!

  • 3. To let you know, because I know, there was only one "real" or fight speed kick thrown in this entire game. Mestre Moraes, who is 57 years old, throws an armada at the very end without reservation. Watch again and see the hidden martial art.

  • 2. Those "martial artists" who degrade Capoeira also must be novices. Even from the little I know about other traditional martial arts, I am aware they are about more than being able to injure someone else in a fight . The practitioners who only focus on this aspect of their martial arts would shame the ancestors who lived and died to pass the art on to them.

  • 1. Capoeira was created in the struggle for freedom by slaves. It is empowering, not destructive. It was not created by one dynasties warriors to conquer another and as such cannot be judged by ethnocentric values. In other words other martial artists who don't know capoeira have no context to judge capoeira.

  • Wow, I was reading through the comments posted about this video and couldn't believe the vitriolic language used by other "martial artists" to describe capoeira and its jogadors. First, most critique it by calling it weak because it doesn't seem deadly enough, use enough force, or couldn't beat whatever style they practice.

  • Angola is awesome. Regional is flashy and all, but when it comes to the ROOT of Capoeira, it's all about Angola. GO CAPOEIRA! ^^

  • Those of you who dont understand this martial art and make fun of it are probably the same ones who would say tai chi is worthless. You are not only ignorant but, also blind. You only give credit to brute strength and none of the other form of it. I hope you are not teaching others to be so blind we have enough blind people leading the blind in this world.

    Quem nao conhece a capoeira

    Nao pode da seu valor!

  • It is a sad thing to see "Martial artists" who were taught nothing. One should never disrespect nor underestimate another persons art. It shows you have a lack of respect and education which is the first thing any good teacher should make sure you have before teaching you any kind of combat.

  • Listen, these people are PRACTICING, so they're not trying to kill each other! In the past, capoeristas would keep razors in between their toes so they could cut their opponents throats with their kicks. No style is any better than any other, it just depends on the fighter. Well, except for "WWE style" wrestling, that shit is the most retarded, gayest, worthless, fake thing I have EVER seen, EVER.

  • This is a great game!! I happy that the ignorant ( ie. slave holders) still think Capoeira is just a dance of some knuckle heads. The art is still hidden... lol.

  • like crow crap on canvas, some may be deluded into believing this is an art form.

  • capoeira does have it's pros though

  • capoeira is crap, the gracies already proved that. just pick em up, slam em down and apply bonesplitting submission, done!!!!

  • apparently if zach1977 can't spend his time rubbing his body up and down another, then it just isn't worth his homoerotic little time

  • ,./

  • capoeira STP craking people, that make fall the teeth 4 real

  • absolutely awesome!

  • that was sad wow why even upload that?

  • i still prefer regional...and not because of the flashiness, i just think there are more advantages (faster, makes your coordination better, you learn to land better, actually useful in street)... and i'm brazilian too.

  • maneiro eu faço capoeira angola , caras vocês não tme idéia de como cansa ficar no chão mas meu já são 10 anos fazendo, vale a pena

  • hahah wat r they tryin to doo break dance or tryin to act like ninjaz

capoeira NINJA!!!, if u like ninjas that can flip real fast.

  • looks like a couple of crack heads trying to brake dance to me

  • fo real

  • That's some of the slowest and dullest capoeira I've ever seen. I don't mean to be rude, but this form seems to be taking it a long way away from any martial arts background and much closer to some kind of artistc, boring, modern dance performance.

  • slowest? that is capoeira..thats Angola style..thats how its supposed to be

  • caraca...esses americanos só falam merda...PQP!!!!

  • damn pirocadoida give him a break yeah he's ignorant but damn! good video

  • for all the people that love this video www.capoeirascience for more. let stay in touch. keep it postive keep learning keep creating!! cientista

  • eclectic evolution of break - very interesting...

    sample my clips...

  • Sorry it's not brake, it's a ancient martial art from africa. the braker's use some movement's (or try).

  • Cool stuff!

    I am,

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Like anyone can be completely sure? It's assumed, because the similarities are vast. The history of capoeira is it was a lethal african art from the country of angola; when slave traders brought the angolan's to Brazil, it was forbidden for them to practice the martial art- so it became disguised as a dance. Around 1940, it became legal again to practice, and since then capoeira regional developed to accomodate those who aren't as intersted in tradtition as atheltisicm and competition.

  • w3rd. it's important to know the history and influences of the vast landscape of dance and movement that is part of our culture(s). one thing that we can be sure of is that the proof of what we're talking about is right before us. what's the point of some of these rude-assed comments that are devaluing another's cultural expression anyhow?

  • That it's not true, go to brazil to see yourself before to talk about

  • fuck capoeira, its just watered down chinese martial arts!!!!

  • wen you don't know nothing about... keep your mouth shot

  • Breakdancing comes from Capoeira? Not really, but some of the moves refer to it partially.

  • No capoeira it's a martial art and the brake dancer's use (or try) some movement's to show something more.

  • nooope no way.

"we never saw them dance just like they never saw us dance, it deffinetly didnt come from another country, it was made up in the Bronx" - Mr Freeze - Rocksteady Crew.

  • AYE AYE AYE AYE !!!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA, i died laughing watching this too!!!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW4eg2IWqkc

    Crazzzzzzzzzzy!

  • I prefer Capoeira Regional, and theres a lot of ignorant dumbasses saying capoeira isnt effective, they don't know what they are talking about.

  • capoera is not for fighting... no one is going to kick anyones ass with capoera, let alone cripple any other fighting style

  • this looks like break-dancing to me

  • actually, that's where break-dancing comes from. Sometime in the mid to late 70's a dance ensemble fromAfrica performed in NYC,and they had a capoeira group with. within days there were young folks on the streets of nyc taking what they saw and intergrating it with the surrent trend in stree dance, and bam- break-dancing was born. It's like an evolution of dance.

  • no "breakdancing" didnt completely come from capoeira. its true some moves of bboying came from capoeira. To put it short, bboyin derived from gangs from NY.Brooklyn Rocking was what it was called. And yes rocking is like dance fighting much like capoeira. But many moves such as groundwork and top rocking originated from other dances.

Not trying to flame on you but bboying did not directly come from capoeira. Rocking did.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeqWItykGfo

  • i know you're not flaming me. your information is correct as well as is mine.

  • It's like wwe wrestling.

My friends do capoera. It's cool watching them,

but as a fight it's crap.

But good for workout, fitness, and yoga and stuff.

  • and another thing... capoeira guys can lift their legs yeah so they can kick ur head. but if you are fast and you manage to defend it... they're fucked.its really more like a game. you get to know the other one and teh movements but oh well you can find more about that searching for other martial arts and self-defense. the most complete fighting category if you want to learn how to fight ( no competitions tho) is self-defense.

  • actually, here in brazil, we dont say " lets fight capoeira", we say lets PLAY capoeira. And it's just a dance. no one from capoeira is ready to kick ass.

  • were they fighting or something

  • I used to do Capoeira Angola in my school. Capoeira Angola is from Brazil, a decent from Africa brought by the slaves. The slaves practiced this to keep themselves fit and flexible. It is a dance/martial arts. Not all martial arts are used to hurt people. It is an art. When I was in Capoeira, I was very flexible, being able to spin on my head, do handstands, and many other moves that are commonly used today in breakdancing.

  • I respect those people but... is a little slow no?

  • wtf? this is some lame shit. wow...slow cartwheels and man-ass....fun.

  • I respect it's art.

I dont respect people saying it's a martial art.

  • i love how people say it looks like danceing and they pretend to know everything...thats because capoeira is a dance learn about an art before you disrespect it...and im pretty sure any seasoned experieced capoeira fighter could easily take down...if not completely cripple any other art ..all people see from capoeira is the "Eddie guardo" style no one sees the 720 triple kicks somersaulting quadruple kicks...man dont get me started..

  • I agree teflon...U guyz should just appreciate it as the art it is, and if ya can't...I don't know...find another VIDEO maybe???

  • i love it when fat internet nerds complain and cry about how a fighting style sucks.hahah

  • Rcbraido.

    Shut the fuck up.

Speed dont matter. Capoera ISNT a martial art.

it's middle aged men trying to breakdance.

  • most boring video i've ever seen...

  • all i know is ive never heard of any real mma fighters ever using this shit, so it probably dosnt work, looks like dancing to me

  • wudn't this be funny if sum1 of em farted

  • Well, this supposed only to show some Capoeira movements... I dunno why people always like to compare the martial arts! Each one has its values... Do you guys train martial arts to kill people? I hope not...

  • this style of capoeira its supposed to be slow, its the angola style, movements are slow ist more like in a trance way of dancin, like druged

  • A streetfighter would kill an experienced capoera fighter.

It is flashy and unpractical. It is bullshit.

Capoera fighters wouldnt do that in a real fight.

It's too difficult and is a symbolisation.

It's like the yoyo being a weapon

    flashy but unpractical.

    Rcbraido. Shut the fuck up.

The only brazilian martial arts that is even worth your mouth is jiu jitsu.

    Go play some soccer.

  • Ok man, watch this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsmabACMizo&search=capoeira%20fight

    See how slow it is.....

  • did you ever consider, that martial arts could serve some other purpose than killing stuff?

  • Yeah, I'm down with the capoeira...if you like the samba, check out the new freshness

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZVIIjXQOOM

  • Yo americans, come to Brazil (Salvador - Ba) and try to fight with someone that fights capoeira, than u will see what is like to be knocked out in ONE SECOND...

  • Capoeira's moves are lethal....

study a bit more about it before posting things like this....

And learn to be at least a bit more respectful

  • Comment 1: First off, I'll go down to Brazil and whoop "Eddy Gordo's" ass, then bring his ass to Angola and uppercut the fuck out of him!

Comment 2: Why don't they come out with a fighting variation of Capoeira; like karate got Kyokushin and some kickboxing, like Kung Fu got San Shou and some styles or like some very skilled Tae Kwon Do fighters?

  • they fight all the time in Brazil!! to see some fighting and guy get knocked out in capoeira look here http://mapage.noos.fr/d1autremonde/fortalez.html

  • jui jitsu > capoeira

  • the style demonsrated here isnt supposed to be flashy, nor is the objective is to hit your opponent. this roda (game) is showing how to manipulate your opponet and use mind games, and showing off your control. if you want to see the flashy jumpin around acrobatics you should check out the capoeira regional videos.

3rdly.....i bet those who said they look like they cant fight at all havent been to brasil. if you think your so bad then go challenge a maestre and see how far you'd get

  • ...wow interpretive dancing....

Check out Sexxx Bomb Gee Danserz for interpretive dancing at its finest!!!

    .:REDTOEWATSON:.

  • These dumb fucks would get their asses handed on UFC or pride fc. Fucking hippies trying to make shit up to justify being crack heads. Also you try to fight someone in jail and you bend over? you get your asshole raped. Fighting style? maybe in tekken but anywhere else this shit does not up to anything.

  • i never said capoeira wasn't a real martial art and i didn't say it sucks. i only addressed previous posts speaking of the deadliness and practical aspects of the art. i don't think an art has no value simply because its impractical but don't make it out to be something its not. personally, i would study capoeira if it were available in my area.

  • like EDDY from TEKKEN!! LOOK!

  • they couldn't even stand on there hands that long how did this end up getting featured they look stupid doing that drunk dance its like super slow drunk perfessional wrestling they didn't even hit each other

  • Capoeira has 2 distinct stlyes this is Angola. Check www.capoeirascience.com for vidoes of a COMPLETELY different syle of capoeira.. but they are both still capoeira...

  • Can Royce Gracie take these guys?

  • what is this the drunken monkey, it looks like a friday night at my house with all my fuckin uncles drunk. dancing, aruguing and trying to fight each other.

    but even slower!

  • hmmm i feel like playing tekken ima go kick eddys faget little fighthing style

  • to all the haters saying shit like "I just wasted a minute of my life", nobody freakin ASKED you to watch it, dumbass, that's your fault and nobody else's

  • wow!!! i just waisted 1:39 secs of my life

  • This is not the martial arts, to any degree. It is DANCE.

  • I would put a good female jazzercizer, or even one of Richard Simmon's fatty women who sweat to the oldies up against these brokeback fighters any day of the week! My money is on the fat broad.

  • ...Interesting....I wrestle Freestyle/Collegiate so this is foreign to me but I can see how in some real situations you could use this. How does somebody score in Capoeira Angola? What's the objective? (IE in wrestling, pin the person)

  • Although this isn't fast capoeira it's still a good demonstration of the essence of the art. If you're skeptical about this video you should look at faster capoeira that incorperates martial arts tricks and flips.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! MY BRAIN MELTED FROM TEH SUCK ASS NEWBS AIR FUCKING EACHOTHER!

  • HAHAHAHA "air fucking eath other". that's classic man.

  • That was interesting to watch.... They didn't appear that good at it to me. Maybe they we just being lazy. I understand they were being slow because it was Angola.... but that kind of just sucked. :-(

  • C'mon now. They are just practicing. I don't know much about capoeira, but my impression is that for any style of martial art (or anything for that matter), you'll want start out slow and be able to perfect your form first. You can speed up after that when it becomes instinctive.

  • This shit was gay

  • anyone who understood and treated martial arts as an art rather than a way to kick as would repect this style. Not flashy but to the point

  • hmm thats interesting. It focuses on principles than brute force. In a real fight they would win, obviously if it was faster. A person who knows that and has fast reactions would be crazy to beat. Its like tai chi. A lot of pulling and pushing, but extrememly effective.

Obviously not as interesting but effective in a real life situation

  • i lost 1min n 38 sec for this shit??? fuck u

  • i don't even know how to respnod to that..

  • this is stupid... they look like dogs trying to fuk each other

  • brazilian ios way better this just sukt ass

  • Interesting Video!

Watch the most interesting videos on http://www.DocuWorld.org

  • I prefer the brazilian way of capoeira! that was a bit embarrasing.

  • Beautiful game of Angola Capoeira. If you look carefully, both players are setting up traps for each other then exploiting openings in the guards to throw a kick in or try a sweep (rasteria). Even the handstand is a trap to try to get the other guy to go in for a headbutt to the stomach but if you fall for it you get a kick or a knee to your face before you connect. Also look at how the arms are used to cover their faces and redirect any kicks that go their way.

  • WTF? All these boys lack is a double ended dildo.

  • why does that nigger in the white keeps on trying to kick the other nigger

  • Atleast no one in this video is addicted to drugs! Pathetisadians!

  • I don't mean to offend anyone but these guys look like they're DRUNK! They keep bumping into each other and can barely open their legs, and one of them almost tripped on the other! I've seen plenty of good capoeira dancers on TV and some very good ones from NYU at washington square park, this video was kind of embarrasing to watch and is not an indicative of how good copoeira can be.

  • That was dumb.

  • great video

  • How do you watch this video? :)

  • "Eddy in Tekken would (gibberish) em all." What a bunch of wankers...and as for the fool above, it's called caporeia ya in want of genitalia punk! Please believe I burned ya both like toast!

  • howcan this shit be feature what is it

  • Eddy Gordo will definitely wup their asses

  • wddigo - vergonha temos de você: espero que Exú te abrace e te carregue.

  • eddy in tekken would wtfpwan em all

  • eddy in tekken does capoera.... this is omething else ... and i think that these people are high on something

  • This is a different style of Capoeira than what Eddie Gordo does. This one is more traditional. It's called Angola style, and it has a lot of strange traditions and things. You have to really be into Capoeira to like it.

  • thanks for the info... :)

  • Interesting Video!

  • Que droga da ate vergonha de ser Brasileiro....

  • You guys obviously don't have a clue of what capoeira is. You see a few clips of random people in a exhibition and you think you know what you are talking about. If you saw a true capoeirist in action you'd shit your pants as your body trembles in fear.

  • what the fuck is this shit?

  • I think that was kind a boring watching

  • Capoeira is nice to watch and I give full respect for the talented athletes/artists that perform its techniques. However, I still see my art as the best striking art--the best true combart art--in the world: Muay Thai. Thai boxers can inflict and absorb damage better than any other fighter. If you really want to overwhelm an opponent with a vicious attack, quick counterattacks, and have solid defense, Muay Thai is the best option.

  • yeah I also practice thai boxing and I think the same that you said

  • lol i know ima be insulted for this but this is how it seems first look... well basicly.. ive had flies hit me in the arm that would be more painful then being hit by one of those guys...

  • flashy flips don't work in a fight but those hand stand and cartwheel kicks do? please.if you want a deadly art try something like sayoc kali. i don't question the value of capoeira it looks like a lot of fun but if you want to talk about self defense applications, this isn't it and don't act like it is.you want self defense buy a gun.

  • i don't think you guys know what you're talking about. whats deadly about capoeira? looked like at best they'd connect some odd kick to the face. doesn't look deadly or practical.

  • shit i hate seeing stupid guilty white americans appropiate other cultures.

"look at me! i like black people and the different things they do! im not part of the problem! im saving the world!"

f stupid yanks. im glad people are attacking you. you all desrve what you get.

  • you're just still pissed about the Boston Tea party.

  • i'd actually be freaked out if someone wanted to fight me like that. they have such great control of their bodies.. it's amazing.

    i give capoeira fighters a 20 out of 10!

  • cozz213 enzomedici pancho421

people, this is a fighting art from Brazil... practiced by slaves. Its a fight hidden in dance so that the slavemasters would see it as a dance and not stop them from doing so, what these two are doing is real applications. FLASHY FLIPS DO NOT WORK IN A FIGHT, if you want to do flips join a gymnastics group. About them looking high, Capoeira also uses the motions of a drunkard just as in chinese martial arts, just another way to misslead your opponent.

  • interesting. thanks.

  • lol haha

  • Truly mastering the techniques and art of combat of capoeira can only be done through grueling physical training and years of practice, it’s not for the average, lazy “martial artist”. Unless you just want to show off to your friends, than you can find some half-assed capoeirist that calls himself a master and learn to do flips and wiggle around.

  • The principals of capoeira’s style and techniques are: 1: Absolute defense against single and multiple opponents, and swift counter attack, and 2: Attacking techniques meant to defeat the opponents with one blow, focusing on speed, precision and a natural flow of movements with the purpose of overwhelming the opponent with a continuous combination of fluid and unpredictable attacks.

  • Capoeira has an endless array of attacking, blocking, evasive, and grappling techniques and not one of them is a cute dance move to impress your friends.

  • A lot of foreigners have the wrong idea about capoeira. You see a bunch of noobs doing flips and wiggling around and you think “whoa, that’s cool” so you go and learn to do flips and wiggle around too. That’s not capoeira. Capoeira is a deadly style of combat and that’s its only purpose.

  • Angola’s main purpose is practicing advanced techniques, focusing on precision, balance and exercising the muscles needed to hold hard stances and quickly shifting from one stance to another. Angola can also be quite artistic when both people know what they are doing. The guy in orange has great technique and timing, each of his moves not being for show but having a purpose. But the other guy was horrible.

  • they seem high to me.is this some kind of Capoeria ritual, like a katta of sorts.don't know much about Capoeria, but i've seen some exhibitions that looked pretty cool.faster though.

  • will some one teach me I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO TO THAT FOEVER!!!!

  • Wow. I love Capoeira, but what is this gay Capoeira? They look like a bunch of retards.

  • a choreographer why waste ur time even trying to talk about something u obviously know nothing about. not all capoeira is back flips and suicide kicks

  • hmm? well, you're right; i don't know that about much about capoeira, but unfortunately this clip gives me no reason to explore the art any further. so take your angola and your regional and put in the hands of more talented people if you want it to be taken more seriously. simple.

  • Ay yay yay, no me gusta. Ay yay yay think these guys need more practice, maybe a choreographer or someone with an eye eye eye for coherence.

  • Whahaha soo funny.. hehe
