Just before she went big on tour with Lionel Ritchie...I saw her in DC in 1981 and 1982 at a small venue too..she sang with the audience passing the microphone around and doing duets with us. What a diva. I didnt feel bad for her, I loved her for her genuineness and excellence. I saw her five times before she went arena and the days of small halls were over. What a great performer who will be studied long after she has passed. We are privileged to have been there in those day.
I saw this concert in a pub type place in Melbourne - The Croydon Hotel - she was fantastic. I crawled to the stage right at the beginning of show and sat right up at the stage taking photos.....at the end of the show, and I don't know where I got the nerve, I put my hand out to shake hands with Tina and to thank her, and she took my hand - it was beautiful. She never told me to stop taking photos. It was a small venue as well.
I see a young Kenny Moore and the guitar players who would be with her during the glory years. I also see her dancers/singers Edna "Lejune" Richardson and Annie Behringer who would be with her into the early 1990's. Does anyone know where Lejune and Annie are today (June, 2009)?
I totally agree....her voice is just one-of-a-kind and give me chills over and over again. I love her spirit, showmanship, and excellence as an artist and performer. She is truly the best.
I saw this show, at a small, funky country and western bar in the san fernando valley in california. there were no more than 20 people there. we got a table 12 inches from her stage. i felt bad for her, knowing she deserved so much more, but she gave her all to the few of us. i'll never forget it, and will always be grateful she finally hit it big not long after this show. god bless you, tina turner!

This fantastic song is featured on the soundtrack to the 80's movie SUMMER LOVERS. It hasn't been released to CD YET! If you can find a copy of the old LP, enjoy, as it's one of the hottest soundtracks of the 80's. Her version of the song there will slay you.
Beautiful,, Beautiful song, why cant songs like this appear on her greatest hits? sucks, i love the live version better than the Lp version, Tina is the best,
Her powerful voice -- sometimes gritty, sometimes sultry, always attention - grabbing, her incredible legs, her huge hair, her time - tested beauty, 'she makes an unforgettable special lady'.
yes,I couldn´t agree with everyone more.Phil Spector said it like this:"There are stars, superstars, mega stars, and then, there is Tina, standing high above them all"I love her songs from this period in the early 80´s before Private Dancer and also think she should have used them in her world tours, but then the shows would have taken 3 hs because she couldn´t skip the pop classics.
Nice N Rough moved me in ways that are inexplicable. I watched the concert on TV - and later on VHS - when I was crazy about her during the Break Every Rule period. This show is testimony of how original she has been since day 1, and how she just gets better over the decades! The raw energy she unleashes is so infectious and soulful. Always will be a classic for who she is, and what she does!
actually this song is not from 1979, its from 1982 concert I have it at home, crazy in the night and where the heart is came from 'summer lovers' soundtrack
I agree with every one, I love this peformace, she takes her voice to another level and I just love how she really gets in to each song, I wish Tina included 'crazy in the night' 'where the heart is' and 'night life' in recent concerts.
This is an amazing performance from the force that is Ms Tina Turner. People will look back on this performance for eternity and be spellbound. There will never be another voice or presence like hers. x
