What I did:built 2 Exarch-Torsi out of the box and magnetised their hip and 1 pair of legs.

Bladestorm only counts for Avengers, not for characters joining them!

Defend lowers the number of attacks of every model in the unit that is attacked or attacking.

Joe forgot to say that the exarch with the dire sword gains +1 attack for the pistol-> 4 power weapon attacks on the charge

I like to take 10 with Diresword option, Bladestorm AND Defend (172points).

for using "defend" im very confused. does it remove 1 attack from the total amount of attacks i.e. say orks 60 attacks to 59 or is it one per model say base is 2 then downgraded to 1? please help

Never used Defend before, but I'm sure it's 1 per model. Minus one attack per squad wouldn't exactly be too useful!

Totally agree with the tacs in this video, might I also add that you should not expect a DA unit to kill anything on their own - like most eldar units they work best in conjunction with another unit and will lose 1 on 1 to almost anything. They simply struggle to kill anything in close combat regardless of how u kit them out, the damage is done from ranged and thus you need either another unit to make sure the enemy unit is completely dead and cannot get into close combat with the DAs

Although its a good tactic to pile your Dire Avengers inside a Wave Serpent and get them close to the action as soon as possible (A tactic i've used in the past too, Tau don't like it lol) I now use my DA's to defend any objectives and use Banshee's or Scorp's to try and get stuck in via a Wave Serpent. I find it works better, also taking a big unit of 20 Guardians means your DA's dont get shot at as much.

@corpral the IG don't have tactics, you just stand on your DZ and shoot all comers to death with lots of guns. And always, always take as many LRBT's as you can fit in your points total.

All it says is the Exarch and his squad, which to my mind means anyone who joined it.

Yes, but a Farseer is an Independant Character and in the rulebook it clearly states that Independant Characters DO NOT benefit from the special rules of a unit that they join, even if they start the battle within the unit. I can site the reference if you want.

@jboweruk Well use common sense if it isn't explained. The Dire Avengers are aspect warriors which means they have trained their entire life in that aspect. A farseer, despite not being equipped with an Avenger Catapult to begin with wouldn't be nearly as skilled as a Dire Avenger.

The skills are there to represent their skills in shooting being superior to most eldar. Also a bunch of people have already replied saying that there's a part in the rulebook about Independant Characters.

seriously, anyone knows if guardian spam works? you cant easily run DA spam because they are more expensive and you can only have 10. but 20 guardians can outshoot SM easy. espicially if they are close combat with 2 flamers.
