  • ireland owe alot to u2 .. bono and u2 put that fuckin counrty on the map!

  • why they are the greatest band ever , thats why

  • remember it so well!! Amazing/... my first U2 concert...jeez have goosebumps watching this!!!! :)))

  • The crowd is WILD at 1:10 and you think this is just because of the powerful intro. But at 4:50 they're still crazy. Too bad those timew are over.

And Larry's roadie is also enjoying himself at 2:08.

  • Ah the great memories of (probably) the best concert I was ever at! I see a posting above remarking on the big crowd surges, I was IN it and recall almost getting just feet from the front of the stage. One great day, I recall them starting off into "In Gods Country" immediately after this one.

  • GOD i rember it like yesterday THAT STAGE NOTING LIKE IT THE LADS 2DAY ROCK ON GREAT.

  • was there on 27th june 1987 and I was 20. I still have the original ticket. I can see myself on this video. My three daughters loved it. I guess I was the only Brazilian in the crowd.

  • went to croke park 87 brilliant concert

  • went to croke park in 87 brilliant concert

  • this is magic with everyone bouncing up and down. seen them on this tour in edinburgh. still love seeing u2 but last i was up at the front and trapped behind some guy who did not join in any singing and spent the whole concert filming on his phone. dont understand why people do that at all.

  • love the shot just before they go out just imagine what their thinkin!

  • great performance but bono shoulda wore something more non American for it. Edge looks good in the hat, Bono looks weird in it

  • Was there on the 27th June 1987. It's still the greatest gig I have ever seen, that was U2 at their peak, the unforgettable fire in 85 and the Joshua tree in 87. Was only 15 at the time, the year I did my inter. Was on pitch level for Light a big fire, the pogues and dubliners, and Lou reed. Up in the hogan when Bono came out, and will never forget the whole of croker bouncing up and down to streets have no name, hairs still stand on back of neck watching it. That pure raw energy will never be

  • Caitlin Kinahan: No clue why I'm so sentimental today, but my Da took me to this concert in Dublin in his inevitably vein attempt to bribe me to go to St. Ignatius. But it was the best night of my life. And I graduated from Lab. ;-)

  • This is amazing... crowd allot more excited than the crowd these days... i was only 5 so i could get the chance to go...

  • thanks for this,i was at this concert, still brings tears to my eyes, amazing!

  • now this is wat we dont get to c anymore. i was 17 at the time, ill never ever forget this gig, thanks for posting u2 mixer. this is the raw u2 energy that does not exist anymore, its just a hollywood stage these days.

  • I'm in that crowd somewhere!

  • @glennopd You're in that crowd? Right now? With a computer hooked up and logged into Youtube leaving this comment back in 1987? You, sir, win the prize for being the most talented person ever. Lucky, too...

  • @w8jij17 me too... because that's the place where the streets have no name.

  • fast forward, 2009/2010 the biggest band on the planet goes to u2

  • great memories and thanks for posting... i was up in the hogan stand...it brings a tear watching this,,, thanks again .. U2 forever !!!

  • Was at the same gig with my mates and it was totally unbelievable that day on the pitch it was fucking rockin' and what a song to start a stadium gig and like everyone else I seen the documentary (World in Action) and I remember seeing the crowd at the beginning and thinking I was in that!!!

thanks for posting it brings back a load of memories (good ones!)

    cheers

  • was at this and only 18 and it still brings hairs out on back of neck , came down from belfast and they kicked ass that day never forget it ...fuckin magic gig at there best

  • Brilliant work dude. Was at this gig. Also went last week. No comparison. Last week was Shite. This is when U2 were a band of real substance.

  • Nice job on the edit! I hope U2 watches this to remind them of what it was like when it really meant something to them and had feeling. The crowd reaction is amazing! Croke Park 360 2009 by comparison was flat. I wish I'd been at this concert instead!

  • I love lar's jacket:)

  • The crowd bounce at the start is fantastic...the way a rock show should be....too many people these days are more interested in capturing stuff on their phones instead of rockin! Good to see this vid again cheers.

  • GREAT!!!!! i was in the croke park yesterday at the concert. and U2 and people there was just amazing... thank you :D

  • today moment of surrender U2

  • first concert i ever went to i was 13, heading back to croker for all 3 u2 shows in july :)

  • I lost my girlfriend in the crowd as well, happiest day of my life, lmao :)

  • u was there too, 21 and found my girlfriend out of 60000 people when we got lost. i lost her again since then lol but still miss her :-

  • lisa if vertigo tour in croker is anything to go by its going to be an amazing night im going on the saturday bring it on cant wait

  • ah! what a memory I was 15 at the time paid £15 (punts) for the ticket Q'd at HMV Henry st in my school uniform to get it!! then that same summer met Adam, Bono & Larry down at Windmill Lane what a memory to have when I was so fanatical about them!! what a gig, also my first.. I haven't seen them since but am going to the gig in Croker this year and I can't wait to be back there and hopefully feeling 15 again!! great to see this footage again cheers U2Mixer...

  • Nice story. Hope you have a great time this time too ;)

There are a lot of cool posts on here with fans remembering the gig - glad my upload had brought back good memories for you lot ;)

  • I was at this gig, my first one actually!!! Oh to be 17 again. I remember the centre of the joshua tree falling down! If you notice its missing behind the band.

  • stand by me.

  • Great to see this footage again. Was 18 at the time and went to both gigs with some mates. This is the first song of the Saturday gig. Can anyone remember what song they played first for the 2nd gig on the Sunday???

  • 10 pints of smithwicks and a can of blackout...those were the days

  • jaysus after all these years i can see myself & buddys on this video, mad!!!

  • vraiment trop fort plein d emotion pa en plus

    geniale

    la folie

    yesssssssssssssssssss

  • Thank for this..Have this on video somewhere, probably still boxed in my ma's attic with the other u2 classic bootleg videos, cassettes etc..Best, up up up up ever..I travelled from Edinburgh to this gig then laughed while standing at Murrayfield weeks later when they started with 'stand by me'..no streets for Edinburgh. Still remember their first gig in Edinburgh August 1981 aged 13 at Coasters..it's not even on their website under tour dates,at least I can't see it. Thanks again for this

  • Trying to get 5:30 mins worth of video out of about 3 minutes of real footage was a hard job.

  • dear u2mixer, i'm very sorry about my last comment. the first time i watched this i didn't read the "more info" details, and i assumed that the entire clip was one piece of pro-shot footage ripped from a bootleg DVD. i didn't realize you were stretching the raw footage to cover double the time, so once again i apologize.

  • No need to apologise. I just wanted to try and capture the atmosphere of the concert (and the song) by making a full video to go with what was available. Maybe it does need a tweak here and there ;)

  • well that's the thing. i was assuming that the pro-shot editors had full uncut footage but chose to repeat some scenes out of laziness or something... now that i know you put this together by making a full video out of only half the footage, i don't think it needs any tweaking at all!

  • We were only allowed to use a given amount of tracks, there was certainly no laziness involved. A lot of hard work was put in over a short period of time to bring this programme to air.

  • oh lord just found this ...my first ever concert i went to ...this still gets the hairs up on the back of neck..i was there but a mere megapixil in this but i was the in that crowd ... right upthe front whre i wasn't meant to be!!!!!!

  • ha ha... same here.. I was 11. Unbelievable gig. Thanks for posting this U2Mixer!!!

  • pure mint ness am only 19 U2 are gods

  • ow you doin, up up up up,brilliant, had anthem for the 80s on a blank video along with every appearance u2 had made on telly. woke up one mornin to be told by my mum that she had taped prisoner cell block h over the top of it. never spoke to her for days.

  • U2 did a docu in 1985 wide awake in dublin. have you any songs in full from that show apart from I WILL FOLLOW?
