Betty, that's a great recipe idea. I'll have to check the Benedictine spread recipe since there's no product like that here. Hey, you could make Eggs-in-the-Basket (like at Cracker Barrel) with the discarded bread slices! (And it's Wonder Bread for me! : >)

I agree. This recipe needed white bread, so I used a variety called "hearty white bread," which is healthier than the soft kind. I was responding to a request for a finger sandwich for a wedding reception, and I didn't think "healthy" would be a top priority for their needs.  Thanks for noticing! --Betty :)
