  • I love Lord of The Rings miniature

  • did u do any drybrushing in this video im really new at painting and im not to sure how to do it.

  • i love lotr am im a pro boxer

  • Amazing work! I used this tutorial to make my best painted miniature. He looks awesome!

One thing I might ask is, is it okay to use Devlan Mud and some Bleached Bone, Calthan Brown, etc. to make the dirt on the cape, instead of pigments?

  • keep making lord of the rings videos they are the best. I have recently started lord of the rings and i used your way of painting the uruk hai have helped. now i will be starting rohan and probably use this way

  • What grasses did u use for base?

  • @xploseph this is clumpfoliage bright an dark green mixed

  • awsome i like this vid cus i am starting a rohan army and its gunna help alot

  • thank you so much you are great and keep up loard of the rings and may I remind people loard of the rings will always be around and worth money in time so keep it up great work thanks

  • lord of the rings for ever!!!!! please do not stop making those videos ( like if you agree )

  • I don't have any of the Vallejo Pigments, so I was wondering if regular washes were ok? If maybe I dilute it more or sommething like that. Please reply soon, I'm eager to start painting again.

  • @IDHANification washes and pigments are totaly different. in many of my videos you see the results of washes. if you whant to dirt things up with washes it will work, but will look different then the pigments.

  • @GirlPainting Thanks for the information. I appreciate it!

  • isnt premixed a better idea ?

  • Alexandra its your channel if people don't like lord of the rings stuff then they shouldn't watch it but if they are interested in painting then they can its there opinion but they still shouldn't say what you can or cannot put on your channel.

  • To basecoat reds, I normally mix a small amount of scorched brown in with mechrite red to improve coverage.

  • Make more LoTR vids :D:D

  • As usual, excellent tutorials, im learning so much from them (completely noob about mini painting and painting in general XD) so is really great when you show how you mix the paints and basic stuff like that.

  • when it comes to Games Workshop I only play Warhammer and Blood Bowl. Although, I don't play LotR, but they are fantasy minis, which I prefer to the Sci Fi minis. I love all of you tutorials but do wish you would do more fantasy based figs. Maybe alternate from fantasy to futuristic. I still would love to see you do a Blood Bowl team. Thanks for all the work.

  • It looks great no matter what others say

  • I use to paint LoTR miniatures until I took an arrow in the knee. ;) To answer your request: your tutorials are about painting... not necessarily about the subject. I watch for technique, style and color combinations. Keep up the good work.

  • I don't play any of these games I actually paint the figures from the board game Last Night on Earth but I'm a huge LotR and want to paint of few of my favorite characters as display figures =] I love all of your tutorials and I apply the techniques that is what is important to me

  • I thought the bit of red you painted on the shield was supposed to be yellow?

  • Comment removed

  • I watch ur vids cuz ur a good painter.Fuck u could paint ur house and i would watch.

  • I think you should keep up the LotR tutorials. I don't play it, but I could just as easily apply the tutorial to another model, it's the same painting techniques.

  • I like the turorials but i hate LotR the Tabletop ;-)

  • Please keep doing Lotr Tutorials!!!! :D

  • hi your the boss your model paint how you want allways look forword to your videos great cnannel 2:)

  • hello,

here's my first comment on one of your videos ;)

I would just like to say that I don't care if it's about warhammer or lotr, or anything else, since I'm not a gamer. (Only a model and figure builder and painter.)

I LOVE your painting videos, they're always a very pleasant moment for me.

and, first of all, as you're not american and I'm not too, I CAN UNDERSTAND what you say :-D

So thank you very much for all your vids, you do a very nice job !!

  • Love Lord of the Rings, cool vid. Thanks

    Dave

  • You let the wash dry for three days, until you took an arrow to the knee.

  • I like your Lord of the Rings tutorials because you paint them in a far different style than you do 40k figures. I would also like to see things like miniatures for D&D/Pathfinder/other RPGs, etc. Whatever you have lying around!

  • I am interested in any tutorial you do! I'm not sure what people expect. There are far more miniatures in common usage than you could ever paint on your channel. Are people seriously wanting to follow along step by step with you while they paint the exact thing? The should be trying to improve their techniques and learning new ones. I've learned a lot by watching you, but I've never once followed you precisely.

  • I don't really mind which series you work on. I think in every video of yours I can always learn something new and review the learned techniques at the same time.

  • I love your videos, they are super informative and well we can learn from them and it does not matter which model you use. You should paint whatever you want to paint (or have around, the hobby is expensive enough)

  • Cool video

  • Your video keeps going weird. I could still watch it though

  • I really don't get why you get dislikes on your videos. They are informative, fantastic for any painter/hobbyist to watch. Keep up the fantastic work, don't let some idiots get to you.

I'd like to thank you for all your efforts and new videos. Keep them coming !

  • I love the way you did the cloth, looks amazing thumbs UP !!!!!

  • painting tutorials are universal.... i paint blood angels... but painting tips are universal, I learned alot about washing and painting from your video's and you've not done a blood angels painting video for a very long time

  • @Zwitter101 I have to agree I am mainly painting Dystopian Wars stuff at the moment but have found numerous little tips in GirlPaintings videos that I've used with great effect (I think!). Keep up the good work GP as they're very useful and entertaining to watch.

  • I use a white undercoat and paint in oils. Makes the figures look less dull.

  • I think i love all your video's so the Troll's can stick it, more LOTR.

  • I am as old as dirt and I enjoy the LOTR painting vids...I think the immaturity is more a sign of people who can't imagine anybody having interests other than their own and can't tolerate it. What you show and very well are the processes to get excellent resutls in painting, no matter what the game system or manufaturer of the models...you keep doing just what you are doing and don't be overly concerned about a few malcontents...Jim.

  • One reason I've always liked the Warriors of Rohan is how easy they are to paint.

  • Bin ein fan von dir... aber lass die LOTR minis. Ist meiner meinung nach die schlechteste arbeit von dir bislang

  • DRAGONBORN!!

  • I guess lot of us has that dangerous virus called Skyrim :)

  • woot

  • oh and i didnt think id get back into LOTR NOR get into Rohan, but DAAAAAMN these are soooooo good looking that i may want to dabble :D

  • here is the thing, keep the attitude of these being more inpsiration videos on how to paint THINGS, not necessarily ranges. Each model you paint has elements that can be used in ANY system or range. Metal is still metal, cloth cloth ect ect. People need to stop freaking out if its not something that they like. Keep on keeping on :)

  • LOTR is still played...at least by me and my friends. And if for no other reason I think you should continue to make these because the miniatures are amazing. And really I don't think people should care which line it is. I think its been said before but surely its the technique that counts...

  • @cheesy2259 Agreed. Our local GW still supports LOTR and we have great battles once a week. I personally own and have painted nearly every army in the system. Unfortunately, Rohan has a poor army list.

  • Grrr sorry about the double post I was trying to say technique is universal- grey knight or grail knight

  • I have a bunch of Lott stuff I have not painted. This is inspiring. I agree, I like the tutorials because I like watching Alexandra paint. I don't really care what gets painted as Ted iq

  • Honestly I thought we all watched because we loved to watch you paint, not which miniature line you chose to make a tutorial with.

Normally I would have a Necron tutorial as they are very bland to me. But since you put a video up, I watched it and was pleasantly surprised to learn the glowing edge technique.

Realistically it is not the model that makes a tutorial, but the artist who paints it.

  • @FiveFootFall *avoided* a Necron tutorial

  • Why do people hate lotr so much??!? I frickin love it more than my life. I saw all the extended versions of the movies, I read all the books (including the hobbit), I bought most of the video games and paint hundreds of the figures. PLEASE make more lotr videos because no one else does. It would make me happy.

    Sincerely,

    Your Friend. :)

  • Painting techniques are techniques regardless of the model being painted.

Besides, I *like* LOTR wargaming, and these videos insprire me to getting my own forces up and done!

  • @Toganni seems there arent too many of us LoTR fans out there these days.... :(

  • It doesn't matter to me one way or another if you upload LotR tutorials since I only play Warmachine. I can use your techniques from any tutorial on my own miniatures, though, so paint what you want! P.S. If you made some Skyrim gameplay videos, then I'd watch and like every one!

  • Alex.... how about a horse next time... any format--LOTR, Warhammer--whatever.

  • @advocate4tk Yes, I too would love to see a horse done!

  • Agreed... all you LOTR haters can suck it. Alexandra called it--bunch of whiners.

  • I Also like all of your Videos. Keep up the great work.

  • I really like to think that all of the techniques that you show can be applied in any sense, here we have a nice easy realistic color transition and a fantastic use of layering with washing. No matter what they of mini you are painting you can use all of these techniques on anything.

  • More LoTR Please :)

  • More lotr, I will favorite this video.

  • Space Balls is awesome. ^-^

  • More LOTR tutorial. your vids are cool so keep going :)

  • Less Lotr.

  • Honestly I like all your painting videos, it's GirlPainting, not Girl40k or GirlGW. lol

  • love this girl

  • I enjoy all your videos. I learn something with every one I watch. Thank you for taking the time to post each and I check everyday to see if you have more posted.

  • I am not a beginner and I still play lord of the rings. I've been painting for almost five years now.

  • I'm not a huge fan of LoTR but I wont let that stop me watching vids and missing out on great content. The fact is whatever you decide to paint I will be watching. There is always something new to learn a technique, a product, a colour combination or something. I always enjoy your videos and would quite happily watch you paint a wall.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is I'm not going to put my self in the please make more LoTR tutorials camp but if you do make more, I'll be watching them.

  • and Skryim is always ok ;D

  • i am neutral on LOTR, i agree that no one plays it but it's nice to see something other than fantasy and 40k vids

  • awesome thank you for the Vid Alexandra! im doing a full rohan Army commission for my Games workShop here in California,U.S. Lord of the RIngs is big down here!!

  • You JUST uploaded it, and already two jerks have given it a thumbs down >.> Those guys suck.

  • @Adahn5 just look at the title... of course they will.

  • Watching this tutorial makes me want to dig out my knights of Dol Amroth and start painting them. X ) Very good tutorial Nice and basic painting. Good for new people to the hobbie. Thumbs up GP.

  • Mayhaps people aren't playing lotr (I haven't started with wargaming since I have noone to play with), but I do think that the more tutorials the better. You can always pick up something new in girplainting's videos.

  • Thanks for the vid. On your comments about LotR vids versus others, I find nothing wrong with LotR. Most things you learn from painting vids can be applied to other minis, so don't be discouraged from painting what you want.

It is important to note with LotR minis is that they are usually smaller then a normal mini (I can't say for sure with this specific one) and they have far far less detail available to them then normal miniatures.

    Thanks again!

  • plzzzzzzzzzzzz more warmachine stuff ... cryx maybe :D

  • more lotr

  • Lord of the rings is goinf to come back with the new film the hobbit :P just saying

  • even though i play warhammer fantasy dwarfs I found this tutorial useful for my dwarf's cloaks. Thanks!

  • Hi,

I;ve seen all of your vids, and liked them all.

    No matter what gamesystem....

I think you even can paint up a nice Airfix 54mm figure or Tamiya 1:35 one.

I just look forward to watch your paintingskills everytime again and again.

It has an inspiring and also relaxing effect on me.

By the way, just off the record, I started a small webshop, with some products I designed and like to send you for a review... is this possible?
