I think a lot of people overlook one important thing. Matt is not the greatest guitarist in he world, however his most skilled instrument is the piano. I think he sort of takes the concept of playing something challenging on the piano and applying it a bit more simply to the guitar. Then add the Morello style effects and you've got a bad ass solo. haha

Steve Vai? Satriani? Van Halen? John Petrucci? Michael Romeo? Marty Friedman? These guys are really famous and much more technically able than Bellamy.
Technically, Bellamy is absolutely nothing special at all. His Hendrix influenced style is what makes him a "good" guitarist, cause none of his lines are particularly complex, and I doubt he could play anything by say Symphony X for example. He's not a bad guitarist, but not great.
@r1c0ch3t211 Great in the sense of his live capabilities and his song writing though. Ever seen this guy live? He's very raw, especially when he get's into a particular heavier riff. He's a great guitarist because of the way he uses technology with guitar, and mainly when he plays live with guitar. He's incredible, and if you go to a concert, and see the way he plays live, it's just draw dropping. It's hard to explain, but he IS a great guitarist.
@MrNesk04 matt is a great singer, even though his vocal range isn't THAT impressive, and a skilled pianist and songwriter. His guitar skills are also pretty good, but what makes him so great is that he can play nearly everything perfect - live. another example of an artist comparable to Matt's talent was Kurt Cobain. He wasn't that good of a singer, neither was he a good guitarist, but he could write extremely well and perform it equally good. An example of this is Lithium live from Reading

....There are better players than matt... much better , really the only people going gaga eyed are the novices that don't know anything and the muse fan club.
He's a good songwriter/singer. One of my fav singers, but this isn't that crazy.

@Emceetem You can't look at life that mate, he's a good guitar player, and for you to learn something he wrote and play it, doesn't make anything. The fact that he is creative and writes this is what makes him good. Don't judge based off guitar technique. Creativity is what makes someone good.
