I don't mind interpreting pieces how you want it, but don't call it a masterpiece when it's clearly something less than that (not to marleyfan008 btw).
Bellamy only used that particular intro because he was inspired by Rachmaninoff's style. These are the musicians that influence him and he wanted to show the world what his imagination spoke of.

Calling this Rachmaninoff is offensive, regardless. I only commented because people need to know that this is NOT Rachmaninoff in any way, shape, or form. It would offend Rachmaninoff if someone was sent to this video thinking that the music was of one of the greatest gods of late Russian Romanticism. Now I agree that this is a "different" interpretation of of his prelude in g minor, and Rachmaninov probably wouldn't be crazy about it nor am I. But Bellamy is at lest keeping him alive, and shows that that there are still skilled musicians in popular music. So please quit being a stereotypical snobby musician. @marleyfan008 He definitely would not, it's so much simplified that it takes out all the hidden elements in the background themes. I can play the original and this is clearly done because he can't do the original :)
I don't mind interpreting pieces how you want it, but don't call it a masterpiece when it's clearly something less than that (not to marleyfan008 btw).

Bellamy only used that particular intro because he was inspired by Rachmaninoff's style. These are the musicians that influence him and he wanted to show the world what his imagination spoke of.

Calling this Rachmaninoff is offensive, regardless. I only commented because people need to know that this is NOT Rachmaninoff in any way, shape, or form. It would offend Rachmaninoff if someone was sent to this video thinking that the music was of one of the greatest gods of late Russian Romanticism. As for Matthew Bellamy, he is a joke of a pianist, but is perfect for the "music" that his fans like.

@ArunGarg001 I'm a pianist that's my major in school. I've played this piece before. Now I agree that this is a "different" interpretation of of his prelude in g minor, and Rachmaninov probably wouldn't be crazy about it nor am I. But Bellamy is at lest keeping him alive, and shows that that there are still skilled musicians in popular music. So please quit being a stereotypical snobby musician. That's the reason I almost quit music.

think of it this way: he is showing younger people these complex and beautiful classical songs. The younger generation (myself included) become aware that these are classical songs. We go out and listen to the originals. Im not a classical music genius to know that its awesome music but were smart enough to know that Matt is a great musician.... and so is Rachmaninov and all the other classical music composers out there in the music galaxy.

@tikhonova2008 music never has been, nor will be about need or necessity. An interpretation of a piece is a way for an artist to feel and express the music in his own way. I personal would prefer an interpretation rather than hearing people play the same notes the same way over and over forever.

but i've seen pretty much every version on you tube and the only one that was trully amazing was from a guy named Valeriy Shkarupa
and keep in mind that even the thought of attemptimg to play this particular op means you've got balls,not to mention playing it without making a mistake.
