  • nice ring

  • class!!!

  • give me matt playing piano with the drums in the background to rach slow boring prelude in g-minor any day of the week, each too they own in it, but it most definetely isnt sloppy matt just speeds it up to go with is music, if he slowed it down he could play on a par with rach i reckon.

  • @handycappo whos comparing matt bellamy to rach i most certainly aint, the only comparison thats been made is this rach(prelude in g-minor) and the piano part in butterflies and hurricanes, and yes of coarse he aint in rachs league, but why do you feel its your duty to put matts piano skills down, coz he as skills i can see it the world can see it, and ps if you are talented like you say then why so bitter, isnt it best to be humble instead of bickering about nonsence, matt is really good end of.

  • @handycappo- LOL sloppy you said ive listened to it over and over and frankly you are just reaching.

  • @handycappo- Hes either sloppy or good which one, and hes above good hes excellent, the world can see that, top musicians do even say hes the most gifted all rounded musician on the planet, so i'll listen to their remarks before i listen to some guy whos mission it is to prove to everyone how poor matts piano skills are, the sad thing is deep down you probably havent found any flaws in matts piano skills, but you just hate with a passion that matt is being talked alongside one of your idols.

  • @ALNNEGG he IS a great all round musician, but he's not even a thousanth as talented as rachmaninov on the piano. he just isnt and thats it, im sory but rach was a vertuoso on the piano and matt is so so, look up some before u disbelive me, the reason i responded to this video is because it says rach prelude in g minor, and its not. it slightly resembles it.

  • Oh! He can do (sloppy) arpegios and tremolos. He has to be the best pianist of the history!

Horowitz, Richter or Gilels cant be compared with Matthew Bellamy: he is from another world!

  • @kzelmer u must be sarcastic

  • Muse are fucking awesome I love their tunes and when they play other peoples tunes House of the rising sun was just epic

  • i have this odd feeling that this isnt in G minor

  • @jarosemann1228

    It is, have no fear

  • If the world would be more tolerant...

  • 0:47 - 0:50 <-- The face of a genius.

  • Matt bellamy is a genius, who cares what you lot think, haters will keep on hating. Fair play to muse for blending classical music with rock, i think it sounds fantastic and the majority would agree.

  • @handycappo-tell me when as matt bellamy ever displayed rubbish piano skills come on be honest, or are you just lashing out, because its clear to see that hes world class, and even top musicians have said so.

  • @ALNNEGG no hes not it just looks impressive because hes playin arpeggios, there sloppy to be honest, i dont get how hypnotized every one is by matt, he's good but he's no where near rach or any great piano player.

  • WTF is going on in the comments here? So much hate...

  • The problem is the title, this is not Rachmaninovs Prelude In G Minor, it´s just a piano riff inspired by it. And yes it´s easy as shit to play, I have been playing for about a year, and I can play this sleeping. (Not to say that Matt isn´t a good muscian, Muse is one of my favourite bands.)

  • lame !

  • because they like to spoil the real music

  • why do that... why to Rachmaninov?

  • @lecheparavaka ahahahah poor rachy!

  • Honestly, he probably wouldn't. He was known to promote interpretation of his music. I believe he'd be interested.

  • rachmaninoff would be so angry if he were alive and kill himself

  • @ValentinaAmazesSuper you are such a hypocrite

  • @ATAS987654321 how am i a hypocrite?

  • this "interpretation" has nothing in common with Rachmaninoffs prelude. a 10 ear old kid could do that ...

  • I think the said Rachmaninov piece probably influenced him a bit here but it's clearly NOT even an interpretation.

  • Why does it cut off?????

  • Wow. I didn't think I'd see a fanbase that was more pretentious or or snobby than Muse fans, but Rachmaninoff fans take the cake.

  • @35TCK thats cause we hate the fact that muse fans think matt is even close to rachmaninov. its like som1 in a wheelchair tryin to play professional football and havin a fan base

  • @handycappo

I honestly don't give a fuck,, if Matt wants to play the intro chords in different rhythm of Rachmaninoff at concert it has literally no impact on me. It's just silly, that grown adults can have such petty feelings about it. Like If i loved the transformers cartoon and they made a shitty movie out of it, so what? While the masses of mainstream music are deteriorating anything that resembles musicianship, and this is what you guys are going to complain about? Goddamn.

  • @35TCK haha, if u care about deteriorating music u should giv a shit. theres a pianist called lang lang and he's 1000 times better at piano than matt. lang lang tryed to play rachmanninov and its on youtube, because he made a few mistakes he's ridiculed, now lets look at the title of this video,it says he's playin rachmaninov but he's crap, crapper than my 14 year old brother .classical music is open to interpretation but if ur shit just dont play it and matt is a shit pianist end of stry

  • @handycappo

Sorry, I don't take people who lack a command of the English language seriously.

  • @handycappo k when Lang Lang can play the plug in baby/Knights of Cydonia/assassin guitar riff, sing the vocals to showbiz, MK ultra or Sing for absolution not to mention write a three piece symphony and produce some of the most incredible live shows of all time we'll talk. Lang Lang is an incredible pianist as is Matt, you however seem to be a talentless nohoper who's just bitching at matt because they're bitter about not having his gift.

  • @alternativebassist ha, id say iv more talent than you, 1st u listen to muse so any musical tallent u have is tainted. and lang lang is a classical pianist, he'd hav a better chance of writing a symphony than matt , i wasnt even talking to u anyway, ur jus tryin to get involved cause ur a lonely looser... so untill som1 writes to u then you can talk

  • @handycappo well you certainly have no talent in spelling. funny thing is your so stupid you don't realise your own argument is completely nonsensical. You certainly have appalling music taste and besides Matt IS a trained classical pianist. Unlike you; he's already written a symphony, I don't see you or Lang Lang going that way anytime soon. Yeah you can project all you want but I'm not sad enough to whine about someone who's far more talented/less of a loser then I am =)

  • @alternativebassist i sed i wasnt talkin to u looser and ye im spellin tings rong, can u not understant? oh my spellin is rong what a lame attempt to win an argument. and matt isnt a classically traind pianist, give me a source that says that, cause theres nothin about him takin his grades in it. and any way u listen to muse which is a musical fail and ur also a bass player which is the biggest musical fail. i play the piano and i know about music unlike a retarted bassist so dont lecture me

  • @handycappo yeh ur so clever how u cant spek english nshit. Honestly I've never come across someone with such a low iq before. You were talking to me so...well enough has said about your stupidity. Its just a point; you're so dumb that you can't spell let alone make any decent points about music. Yes he is, he was playing piano competitevely from the age of 12...even if he isn't it still makes his talent all the more impressive.

  • @handycappo you know its quite funny when someone is as stupid as you AND a hypocrite; first off you clearly know nothing about Muse or Music so you can't say anything to me just because you're grade 1 piano. Secondly I like how you went from waaah don't pick on my spelling because I'm special to haha your a bassist without thinking how stupid you look. Bass is a great instrument and much harder than piano...I should know, I play both; and I'm not a moron, unlike you =)

  • @alternativebassist ha have i hit a nerve? i can spell its just that with so much to say abbreviating the words is more space effective. any one can spell with spell check so u dont hear me sayin ' oh u cant spell ur dumb' cause its not worth it. i never said which instument was harder, i just said that playin bass is a fail, and it is cause its very tonally limited, and i wasnt talkin to u, dont try lie cause its all here, look back a few pages and you'll see.

  • @handycappo no...I'm pretty sure its because you're completely and utterly retarded. All the evidence points that way =) I like how you think its "a fail" when you don't even know how to play it...and then claim that neither is "harder" it would certainly be harder for you! No you weren't but your comments are so crushlingy stupid that by the law of the internet I'm allowed to point out your total (and I must say hilarious) stupidity =)

  • @alternativebassist i wanted a discusion on music but ur like 'ur retarded' all the time, how do u know i dont play te bass, u make points with no evidence so ur obviously a child on a computer with no life or talet, so im not gona talk to u any more.

  • @handycappo YOU want a discussion in music? Mr "I'm better than matt bellamy I'm so awesome because I think I know everything and live on a rainbow palace on the moon". A discussion in music requires 1. ability to spell (you fail) 2. actual musical knowledge or talent (you fail again) and 3 the ability not to look like a hypocritical, retarded troll (you in a nutshell). Yeah ok you don't want to talk, shame because without this you don't get any human contact =)

  • @35TCK haha thats low, i need a better command of the english language. ha sorry ur majesty.. any way the first comment u sent me was 'if matt wants to play the intro chords in different rhythm of rachmaninoff' like thats terrible english.'of' was misused. ur not even worth arguing with if thats ur point. il spel tings rong if i wnt. its ur prob if u cant understand.

  • Come on, cave is this, right? Another copy of Matt :(

  • While I prefer the original Rachmaninoff song, this is an excellent rendition of his work. Muse is a great band, calm yo selves.

  • Lol, this is nowhere near the original prelude - the title of this video is extremely misleading.

  • Not only is the crap, it is in fact technically very easy, which probably demonstrates the limitations of this guy, EAsy arpegios that most pianists would have no problems sight-reading through, just appears impressive to those who cant appreciate what is going on here. The opening chords are a joke in terms of manipulating this into something anuyone can play. A fraud.

  • @sorim1967 yes ur 100% right. theres another video of matt titled 'the piano master' and he's playin this apparent rachmaninoff cover. its like somone learned the first part and then the mid phrase but couldnt play it right so he decided to make it his own. not a professional at all. theres 14 year old kids do this piece more justice.

  • i don't give a damn i love MUSE!!!

  • what a talented chap :)

  • лучше оригинала только оригинал

  • I was surprised by how much I liked this!

  • This is a bad copy of an amazin Prelude.

  • Rachmaninoff would be proud :)

  • @ImmortalSpecies you must be kiddin'

  • Awesome! i love rachmaninoff, its cool to see band like this do something like this :P ofc original is better. i would liked this better if it wouldve been Prelude In C sharp minor (op. 3 no 2.) cause the song is so fuckin epic :P

  • He's a douchebag show off. His music is overdone.

  • @darkgoob lol u jelly

  • @darkgoob ...then why are you watching this video?

  • @xgoxdiexxx I'm not watching it. More to the point, why are you asking me?

  • @arungarg001 eww

  • This is supposed to be a tribute

  • fuck you ! everyone can play what ever he wants...so do it better, but i don't think that anybody here is able to play on such a festival as matt bellamy. this man is a legend he can do what ever he wants. be happy this rock-musician knows song like this.

  • Rachmaninoff would encourage such an interpretation.

  • @marleyfan008 would he now.

  • @marleyfan008 He definitely would not, it's so much simplified that it takes out all the hidden elements in the background themes. I can play the original and this is clearly done because he can't do the original :)

I don't mind interpreting pieces how you want it, but don't call it a masterpiece when it's clearly something less than that (not to marleyfan008 btw).

  • And at the end it turned into the bridge on the Assassin Grand Omega Bosses edit.

  • @RvS009 yeah, it sounds a bit the same but not that much

  • @RvS009 no it end it turns into Screenager.......

  • he showed us his own vision of this composition - and it's just awesome!

  • Bellamy only used that particular intro because he was inspired by Rachmaninoff's style. These are the musicians that influence him and he wanted to show the world what his imagination spoke of.

  • Matt Bellamy has alot more to offer than Rachmaninvov! 1 cause he is alive and 2 he can play other instruments and sing incredibly :D

  • @ArunGarg001

I think you should stop getting your panties in a twist over it, I don't think I'd enjoy Rachmaninoff as much if I knew he was so stuck up about his own music.

Now stop being a snob and enjoy some cool tunes, it all good.

  • @ArunGarg001 I'm a pianist that's my major in school. I've played this piece before. Now I agree that this is a "different" interpretation of of his prelude in g minor, and Rachmaninov probably wouldn't be crazy about it nor am I. But Bellamy is at lest keeping him alive, and shows that that there are still skilled musicians in popular music. So please quit being a stereotypical snobby musician. That's the reason I almost quit music.

  • If you prefer the original then get off this video and go and listen to it.

As for my opinion, I think this is a great interpretation... Matthew Bellamy has TALENT.

  • This is not anything like Rachmaninoff. This offends the colorful, purposeful, and delicate notes and phrases that Rachmaninoff is known for. This has no connection or similarity to the genius that is Rachmaninoff.

  • @ArunGarg001 so? He just used it as an inspiration for an intro of this song. Do you really think he is trying to offend Rachmaninoff? Give me a break...

  • WHY GOD?! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!

  • The idea that pop music and classical are separate universes should be demolished. This piece does it very well!

  • This is not Rach's prelude! It isn't even a shadow of it, sry.

  • Freddy Mercury Shits on you Kind Sir

  • @xBigBangTheory: Bellamy's track record entitles him to interpret any artist he chooses in any manner he likes - dickhead comments like yours tell us more about you than Bellamy!

  • @harleydjackson They day he can play works that the likes of Marther Argerich, Valentina Listisa and Evgeny Kissin can play that's when he'll be entitled to interpret any decent artist.

He should stick to what he's best at, not attempt intricate classical pieces.

  • This sounds like a Bad mixture of Rachmaninov's Prelude in Gm and Piano Concerto in Dm

  • @brian1685 piano concerto no3? really? i dont think matt could play any of that, apart from the intro

  • Don't forgive them Rachmaninov, because they know what they do...

  • @hobbes186

    100% AGREE

  • No interpretations needed for this perfect melody. Genious Rachmaninoff does not need such upgrade at all. Original is better better better.

  • @tikhonova2008 he's just doing a crossover from a song to a song, it's not a cover ffs.

just like doing some riffs on a guitar between songs.

  • @tikhonova2008 Interpretations aren't necessarily played with the intent to better a piece. This is my favorite Rachmaninov composition and though I agree this doesn't touch the original, I still enjoyed it d:

  • @tikhonova2008 music never has been, nor will be about need or necessity. An interpretation of a piece is a way for an artist to feel and express the music in his own way. I personal would prefer an interpretation rather than hearing people play the same notes the same way over and over forever.

  • @tikhonova2008 не рохманиноФФ, а Рохманинов.ты тупая пизда...

  • @tikhonova2008 Wake up. There can be only interpretations of it now. Rachmaninov is dead. Btw, Bellamy is pretty close to the "original" Rachmaninov(Have you even heard the original Rachmaninov recordings?). Much closer than most ppl now.

  • Is he playing Rachmaninov?? Yes, I'm Gandhi!

  • bullshit

  • I don't think he would have any trouble playing the original... but he's a bit of a showoff

  • this is amazing, my favorite piano piece mixed with my favorite band. awesome!

  • @KievanTiger he doesnt even try to play the original.he doesnt care about you fellas

one can make his own assumptions about youz when you expect to hear the original in a concert like this lmao

  • @KievanTiger you just proved that you have no intelligence at all.

you have the impression that "legends" can play all songs better than all the others

that does not apply in general and specially not in classical music

i've studied carefully all verisions on you tube and most legends epically fail to play the particular op

but you couldnt understand wham saying right?

  • if anything, Muse have introduced classical music to people who wouldn't normally actively seek it out. I know I went straight onto Google to check some out when I first heard Muse play classical pieces

  • @KievanTiger of course i have

you think you are a smartguy?

  • @KievanTiger Thanks, when I asked him to list those pianists, it was more of a challenge rather than a request.

  • @sondelachez lmao...you call that a challenge?

    pathetic...

  • AWWWWWWWW YEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

  • This truly inspires me to work hard and pass all my music exams!

I mean, honestly, who in their right mind would want to hear Rachmaninoff being played like that?!

  • Great!!

  • I think i would come so many times during this *IT* would invert into my body and make me female and want to have matts babys

  • Comment removed

  • Eso es saber tocar el piano y no como los "musiquillos" mexicanos como Camila y Sin bandera...

  • I like when people do their own interpretations of classical music. Sure it's not the original, but it's not like you're spraying graffiti over a Monet painting or whatever.

  • hes a puss for simplifying it.

  • He played a version that is so amazingly easy, I'm ashamed to even call it rachmaninoff

  • @shenkeey AGREE, but he is great pianist,i am sure he can play full version!! this version is not rach

  • oh. like <3

  • Anyone else hear Assassin (Grand omega bosses edit) in there somewhere?

  • Matt Bellamy isn't God. God can't play like that.

  • Rach just puked in his casket.

  • @npatterson11 no he didn't.

  • @npatterson11 well said.

  • Part of the Butterflies & Hurricanes solo in there :)

  • he aint shabby

  • Orgasm !!! <3

  • blah, anyone can rip arpeggios, the way he does it's like guitar wank transferred to the piano. and where the lower melody in the middle part?

  • Rach would be proud

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt No he wouldn't

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt (I'm a fan of muse and of classical music too)

  • I mean.. I love Muse.. Probably more than life itself. And just hearing the state of Matt, Dom n Chris in this is just like... Holy fuck..

    <3 Muse <3

  • not horowitz but very very impressive, its good to see that some famous bands are actually talented

  • BTW, merging classical bits in with rock music is not original. ELP did that in 1970!

  • @manco82 ELO mate, get your facts right ;)

  • @manco82 Not original, but always awesome.

  • matt is one of the best musician of this time =)

  • I'm learning to play this, mainly because of Matt!

  • @lukebentley123 the real version is a lot harder

  • ........ I like the real prelude 10000000000x better.

  • CUM IN MY CAVE !!!!!!!!!!! ;)

  • It's not really the prelude. Has anyone here even tried to listen to the original?

  • @sondelachez of course, but its abridged and the ideas and motifs are still there... i doubt he'd get away with playing the full thing in a concert like that...

  • @sondelachez no it is prelude but only a little piece of prelude if you listen prelude by Lisitsa (2:34 to 2:39 ) you will see

  • @sondelachez Yes I did^^ And I have the sheets ^^ It's sure it's different but it's only his arrangement ^^

  • @sondelachez of course it's not the original but that's not the point

obviously you don't realize that he can play the original much better than many known piano players with his eyes closed

  • @gggordanus Could you list some of these known pianists, if it's not too much trouble?

  • @sondelachez dont recall the names because most of them are asian are russian

but i've seen pretty much every version on you tube and the only one that was trully amazing was from a guy named Valeriy Shkarupa

and keep in mind that even the thought of attemptimg to play this particular op means you've got balls, not to mention playing it without making a mistake.

the way you play it though is another matter...

  • @gggordanus i dont use my eyes when playing anyway, alot of other pianists dont either, sounds like you dont really know what you are talking about.

  • @sondelachez yep i actually came upon this thanks to the original , he uses Rachmaninov but makes the song his own and makes his own improvements in it. so it doesn't sounds like rachmaninov anymore >.<

  • @sondelachez yes it is the muse version of it

  • i would love to have matt's playlist of classical music, he should release a playlist like this to the public :D

  • Prelude in G Minor + Butterflies and Hurricanes Piano solo = Intro Screenager Piano version

  • o.O wth..??

  • iew -.-

  • *die* *revive* I think I saw God. He was Matt Bellamy.

  • the easy version of the prelude.....haha nice anyway

  • That is amazing piano playing

  • love to hear him do the full version his way

  • anyone know where i can get the music to the live version of screenager? (whats played here)

    cheers

  • amazing drummer to keep a beat to Rachmaninov prelude,

  • @ardbucho1 it's in 4/4, so it's not exactly that difficult.

  • @ardbucho1 It's not exactly rubato though is it ;)

  • @ardbucho1 It's not the fuckin prelude..
