I think they use Neodymium magnets for the elbow joints, they may be small but they can break bones when they get bigger if your not careful.

Quick question does GX-49 God Scrander Mazinger have the same shin flaps as GX-45 and 47 Mazinger and Energer Z?

If so you might want to be carefull with those they scratch VERY easily due to the screw holes on the thighs rubbing up against them if you bend the knees all the way but seeing as how GX-49s legs are plastic it might not be a problem

Good review, but to be fair i thing this figure is not the best except for the transformation gimmick. You should get the SoC GX-45 Mazinger Z, the previews version to this one. It has really nice die-cast content plus a lot of articulation than the GX-49 does not. Why they release 2 versions of this guy?, is because the show was starting and they didn't wanted to give spoilers as well the anniversary of the line. You should also get the Super Robot Chogokin figures, they're small but awesome.

For people who are not too hardcore and don't want to pay like $80.... There is a plastic model of this version of Mazinger Z, and also a smaller Chogokin line called Super Robot Chogokin, which has some diecast and are about $40~50. No transforming into a fist for that one though.

Both are great alternatives (Super Robot Chogokin line is really growing in numbers too...)

You say it's a disapointment that it doesn't have double joint in the knees or elbows. This is because it's own design prohibits such movement. Any other soul of chogokin would have double joints.
